ROCKET'S INTRUSION INTO MOSSDEEP SPACE CENTER runs deep. As Neffatari Nzingha works at the center, The Visionary leads a team of Team Rocket grunts into the building. As alarms blare, Noel Parker arrives on the scene. A potent threat toward their efforts, Naomi Sato leads the two on a wild goose chase into the observatory's restricted sections.[break][break]

However, the operation is complicated by unplanned developments, including the appearance of a familiar threat.

[attr="class","prompt0"]🛰️ Noel Parker, showcasing his tremendous growth, must be able to take down several if not all of nomi's rocket grunts. he will also be able to damage some of the intel seized by Naomi Sato and Neffatari Nzingha in some way.

Minior casts an ominous, brittle black light as it followed Nenet through the corridors of the Space Center. This was all a bit like playing chess: move a piece here, sacrifice another there, wait.

She steps into one of the many rooms housing the Space Center's networks and stops at the computer terminal station to wait. Security was usually tight in the section of the building, but the current assault had the power flickering in and out, and races between Rocket's hackers and League's own fighting it out over control of the launching satellites aided in her objective.

With the chaos came cover, and Nenet knew where the blind spots in the cameras were like the back of her hand.
[break][break]
A tiny USB, one designed to be barely noticeable, is plugged into the console for Mark Cunningham and the others to continue their work, and to signal Naomi Sato to advance. With that accomplished, she then moves purposefully into the camera's view and taps open a few windows on the console, observing the rooms surrounding her.

There. Movement flickers where it should on the screen. She spies Noel Parker on one screen and Rocket begins to move on another. She has cover to provide.

Nenet quickly moves from the room and down the hallways. She barely pauses as she turns the corner and grasps Noel by his arm, instructing him authoritatively without breaking her stride, "Follow me, they're moving. I need your help."

Beneath the glow the the black Minior, Nenet enters the atrium just as the opposite door explodes outwards and a Rocket grunt's Persian surges forward for a fight.

As quickly as the alarms sound off, so to does Noel arrive to Mossdeep embroiled in total and utter anarchy. Left and right is he besieged by grunts, all fallen by he and his Pokemon's hands as he enters inside the Space Center. Weary yet unmoving, he evacuates as many citizens and employees as he can while fending off even more of Rocket's invasion.[break][break]

The building's hallways act as mazes that have surprises around every corner. Screams of terror and sounds of all manner of attacks lie beyond doors and walls. The situation would frighten anyone unaccustomed to the constant barrage of nightmares this war brought on.[break][break]

But for one who's life can never escape this dredge, all he can do is keep on despite the struggle.[break][break]

One sweep through a hallway and he's met with more resistance than he anticipated. The door opens from up ahead and a small platoon of grunts appear ready to stop his progress. His hand lays on a Pokeball fixed onto his belt, however, before anything occurs, he's interrupted by a surprise.[break][break]

Her command is received with doubt in Noel's mind. Could this be a trap laid by their enemy? It seemed all to convenient. Yet with the decision laid before him between Rocket and the stranger, he chooses to trust her in this moment.

"All right. Lead the way."[break][break]

They break free from their pursuers and end up in the atrium only to be obstructed by even more of Rocket.[break][break]

Just how many of them are there? Noel thought to himself.[break][break]

"Unless you can fight, stand back. Don't worry, I'll take care of them easily."[break][break]

With a swift toss a Glaceon appears. Their foe's Persian leaps forward to claw at them with ferocity but is knocked out easily with a Swift array of stars summoned forth by the ice-type. The remnant of the attack going outwards to blast away the grunt against the closest wall.[break][break]

One down, who knows how many left to go. Their defeat signals to the rest of their squad to home in on the commotion. Feet marching echo behind the door they had come out of and Noel prepares himself to defend Neffatari Nzingha with his life, unknowing of what's to come.

Merely a cover, cast into the fire for the glory of Team Rocket, they are easily overcome by Noel Parker and his Glaceon. As they battle, the faintest of vibrations ripple through the air, delivering the message within Neffatari Nzingha's cleverly placed signal to its intended recipients. Invisible to the average onlooker, the eyes of god spread out across the city, ever vigilant in their divine purpose: to bear witness. To remember. To endure.[break][break]
It is time, they sing, to the rhythm of war.[break][break]
In the middle of the Space Center's primary atrium, blue crystals begin to grow out of thin air.[break][break]
They coalesce into the shape of a portal, sharp edges glittering dangerously beneath the fluorescent lights. Reality makes way for the shape of a petite woman, draped in black and carrying herself with a detached elegance. Close-cropped blue hair, the exact same shade as the crystals surrounding her, frames a delicate face. Red eyes sweep the makeshift battlefield, ignoring the groans of the defeated, until they find Noel Parker and latch onto him like twin lasers.[break][break]
"Hello," She greets him, cold and calculating. "I am the Visionary."[break][break]
A shiny Unown-K manifests above her shoulder, its singular eye scrutinizing as it locks onto the Glaceon.[break][break]
Once, the woman named Naomi Sato would have offered wisdom instead of violence. Once, that same woman would have attempted to speak to the young, defiant trainer: patiently explaining to him the merits of a ceasefire, in order to unite against a greater threat.[break][break]
Never let yourself be complacent. Not with gods, and not with anyone.[break][break]
This Naomi Sato's heart has been hardened by failure, her patience eroded by grief, her compassion burned away by PENELOPE LIVY's unwarranted hatred. This Naomi Sato is here to steal secrets, and maybe, just maybe, she will be able to use them to further her own goals.[break][break]
She will save them all, one way or another.[break][break]

Nenet gives Noel a subtle shake of her head as she leaves him to take care of the grunts. Instead she moves to the front desk as the fight breaks out and reaches around to press a button on its underside; an alarm blares, and the front doors to the Space Center slam shut as the security system there comes to life.

One exit and entrance barred.
[break][break]
She turns as Nomi shimmers into view. Two more grunts have entered the room behind her, though paused at the sight of the avatar. Her gaze cuts to Noel for a bare instance before she moves to stand behind him.

"Nomi," she greets pleasantly enough, speaking before Noel can. "It's a shame you've thrown away your reputation like this. You were a promising student." Her lips press into a thin smile as she asks, "I don't suppose you'll leave?"
[break][break]
Minior casts and eerie and hollow light, disconcerting navigate by. It rises higher and higher, to hang near the flickering fixtures, a black sun waiting to swallow everyone whole.

Her voice low and soft, she murmurs for Noel's ears only, "Minior will buy us cover if we need. Be ready to run, and be careful."

A heavy twilight envelops the entire area. Its shadow bringing dark tidings for all it falls under. While grunts were aplenty, they are nothing to fret over. However, an avatar right off the bat is more trouble than he was anticipating. Announcing herself like some villain from a fairytale, her Unown-K, while small and unassuming, likely held a greater power than he may realize.[break][break]

Neffatari Nzingha exchanges verbal blows against this mysterious woman. Noel's eyes glance from one to the other. Did they have some sort of history? If the two were enemies, then that would make Nenet his ally. He listens to her instructions, nodding in agreement before speaking in a hushed tone to her.[break][break]

"I'll carve a path for us. Don't worry about me though, the first chance we get at escaping I want you to take it first. I can handle myself and them."[break][break]

He then turns his attention to his foe at last. Fiery blue eyes pierce in contrast to her ruby red cold stare. A snarl growls lowly from the Glaceon's mouth, the two of them assuming an offensive stance, ready for the battle to come.[break][break]

"I'm sorry but I just can't do that. I won't let you do as you please, not while I'm around. I'm not afraid of you."[break][break]

To protect is what he swore to do. The world would never know peace until Rocket ceased to exist. Too long have they reigned over Hoenn with an oppressive force. He would not lose to anyone who's purpose was to cause harm. He will not lose to her.[break][break]

The two grunts from behind move in to attack, but they're stopped in their tracks as an Icy Wind chills the air around them, freezing them in place. Now it was just him and the so-called Visionary. If she is all-seeing, then he'd test how quick her sight is.[break][break]

From the cold air, Ice Shards form to hurl themselves towards the cloaked woman. Seemingly defenseless, there was no telling just what sort of tricks she held up her sleeve.

"Dr. Nzingha," Nomi greets cooly, feigning irritation.[break][break]
She'd rehearsed this part countless times in front of the bathroom mirror - and then again, for Parker, just to be sure. She does her best to impersonate Elisabeth Fiorelli, who's disdain for the average person comes as easily to her as breathing.[break][break]
"There are far more pressing matters than continuing with my academic career, unfortunately. But I suppose one as cloistered and single-minded as yourself would fail to understand that."[break][break]
A subtle shake of her head, followed by a genuine expression of disappointment: not because her speech about Nenet is true, but because the threat of the DRK Triad really hadn't reached as many people as Nomi had hoped it would. It's her own failures she channels now, in her attempt to act the villain.[break][break]
The best lies hold a measure of truth.[break][break]
Red eyes flick back to the young man. Their plan had accounted for the likelihood of skilled League operatives being positioned inside of the space center, for added protection - so the fact that only one had rushed to Nenet's aid is a boon in their favor.[break][break]
"Not afraid of me?" She cocks her head, bob of blue hair framing a curious face.[break][break]
As the ICE SHARDS manifest around the young man's Glaceon, Kallistatus begins to glow with the light of a thousand stars. Drawing from both its connection to the infinite galaxies of the Unown Dimension and the power of Nomi's Tera Orb, it crystallizes into a stellar version of itself.[break][break]
Then she smiles, and it is not kind.[break][break]
"You will be."[break][break]
Blinking out of existence seconds before the deadly icicles can impale her, Nomi reappears across the room, directly behind Nenet. At the same time, Kallistatus unleashes a STELLAR TERA BLAST at the Glaceon. Blindingly bright, Nomi takes advantage of the moments before the young man would realize where she'd gone to whisper into Nenet's ear.[break][break]
"Your signal has reached MissingNo. He will open the vault as planned."[break][break]
Then, louder, she demands, "Give me the data, Dr. Nzingha, and I'll leave you unharmed."[break][break]
Which, naturally, is Nenet's cue to run.

"Yes," Nenet agrees. "I suppose so." The woman did prefer to look towards the stars over the mundanity of. Nonetheless her nose does wrinkle at the title of doctor. She had never preferred its use.

Nenet casts around the atrium. More Rocket grunts have filtered into the room, significantly outnumbering the pair. Eyes narrowing, both from the burst of light and proffered information, Nenet snarls to Noel when her sight recovers, "There's too many now."

"I need you to trust me," she murmurs to Noel, her voice lowering once more. "Get us through to that door. I can lock them in here - buy us more time to bring in reinforcements."

The pieces continue fall into place. Once through the door it was a straight shot to one of the labs where schematics were held - information she was rarely able to see. Perfect for Rocket to study. The organisation may not have earned her loyalty yet, but thus far its resources proved beneficial enough to continue aiding them - and there was an added bonus if one of those grunts found the Director out alone... Nenet was nothing if not opportunistic.

She moves another piece, mouth hitching with superiority.

"Minior," Nenet calls. Above, adding to the impending chaos, Nenet's shiny Minior glows brighter; the Pokemon draws in energy for an Explosion. Beneath the pulsing black light, she pulls out a League commset to speak into. "I'm closing the atrium off."

A flash of light deters Noel from his opponent. After the momentary blindness, he reawakens to see his Glaceon fallen to the floor, defeated by whatever move the Unown-K employed. Even worse, he had lost sight of the Visionary. His eyes scan the room to locate their target until they find her where he least expects.[break][break]

With a turn, he finds himself outnumbered once more now with their avatar leading the charge. A quick recall of his Glaceon and he replaces it with his partner Shaymin. He grits his teeth. She may have gotten the upper hand once, but he wouldn't allow her gain any more advantages.[break][break]

"You won't be laying a hand on her. You're going to have to go through me first."[break][break]

Nenet's Minior swells up with power, one that unleashes a starry display under this artificial night sky. Rubble and glass fall down upon everyone like raining meteors. Noel grasps onto his ally's sleeve and looks at her in the eye before exclaiming,[break][break]

"Let's go!"[break][break]

He, Nenet and his Shaymin huddle up together and the mythical Pokemon surrounds them all with a Petal Blizzard. Its leaves sharp as knives that cut away at anything that dare enter its territory. With the "professor" in tow, he leads them towards the door straight ahead. Any grunt that attempted to get past their shield are met with heavy lacerations.[break][break]

Now with the three of them at their destination, Noel and his Shaymin stop themselves short of the exit. The grassy tornado dissipates and he places himself in front of Nenet and the door to safety.[break][break]

"Go on ahead and I'll stop them from following you. Once you call for reinforcements, hide. Don't worry, I'll come get you when I'm done with her."

It is no trivial matter, befriending a Shaymin. As the petite mythical replaces the fallen Glaceon, Nomi is struck with a newfound respect for the League trainer. She knows the trials required, understands the emotional toll: the gifts of the Gracidea are always hard-won.[break][break]
She will need more fire power.[break][break]
A quick flick of her wrist and a flash of golden light: Pyro appears, roaring with primeval fury. Nomi and her Gouging Fire leap after Nenet, racing towards the locked door leading into the classified laboratory where the League's extraterrestrial secrets are kept. It would be easy for Nomi to teleport into the chamber beyond, but the presence of Nenet - USB in hand - is critical to the success of their mission. Nomi does not have the badge clearance or hacking expertise to open the door, even from the inside.[break][break]
But Mark Cunningham does.[break][break]
Any second now...[break][break]
The door does not open.[break][break]
A flurry of razor-sharp pink petals cut down the remaining Rocket grunts. Pyro glows with the power of a long-forgotten, ancient sunlight, the heat of the primal SUNNY DAY filling the corridor.[break][break]
And still, the door does not open.[break][break]
A creeping doubt begins to tug at Nomi's chest, followed by a cold, harrowing dread. Had Mark betrayed them? Had she miscalculated somehow, their timing off by just enough to ruin the entire operation? All of a sudden, her confidence falters, and Nomi stands frozen before the League trainer and his Shaymin, paralyzed by the cruelty of fate's design.[break][break]
Stall for time, the logical part of her brain urges. Someone could be interfering with Mark's work.[break][break]
"Pay close attention," she addresses her defiant adversary, finding her composure. Her mask does not crack as she flashes a cruel, mocking smile. "It is a privilege to witness the altering of reality."[break][break]
She raises a hand and gestures, tendrils of blue crystal spider-webbing out from her fingers like lightening. Three perfectly-formed copies of Nomi's Gouging Fire manifest beside the real one, identical save for their color. They waste no time in advancing, cornering Nenet and her would-be protector against the door.[break][break]
The stellar Kallistatus lingers behind, its singular eye turned away from the battle in ominous fashion, sensing a familiar danger the Visionary does not yet notice.

Nenet had liked the atrium. The girls who manned the front desk were always polite, and stealing coffee from their little break room meant the cost didn't come out of her department's budget. Well, the budget was blown, along with the rest of the atrium, as Minior's explosion rips through the room.

Allowing Noel to guide her through the doorway and to safety, she just manages to recall Minior before disappearing into the hallway. Nomi chases after them, the heat of Gouging Flame licking at her back as she stops at the locked door and flips open a security panel. She frowns.

Tapping a code onto the panel, Nenet glances towards the door, brow furrowed, as it fails to slide open. Something was wrong. Mark should have had to door opened by now. Quickly she taps at the panel, trying security code after code but none of them seem to work.

"Be careful," she barks to Noel over her shoulder. The boy seemed to be fairing well, however. He was certainly a much better battler than Nenet would ever be. Luckily, his determination was contagious and she stills as she thinks through her next moves.
[break][break]
There was another exit she could take them, circle back and try a different door, but Mark was trained to this one. If they tried that then Alba Evovae would be endangered. They have to use this door. They could try the air ducts... Just as she looks towards the ceiling a loud click sounds from behind her. The door opens, and she grins viciously.

Well done, Mark Cunningham.
[break][break]
Nenet bolts into the lab just as the power around them flickers. Taking advantage of brown-out, she places a USB into the nearby terminal and screens come to life. As she types she pulls out the League commset and speaks into it lowly, urging guards to her location. They would be too late, however. Nomi would be gone with the information well before this all came to a head.

Distantly, Nenet thinks she sees a shadow move in just the wrong way. But her attention focuses instead on the screens before her. Information downloads as she pulls up cameras and begins closing doors and opening others. Movement on the screen reveals Alba Evovae's tenuous position within the Center. He would not be discovered, at least - a door closes as he passes through a room, locking him away from League personnel.

With Neffatari Nzingha gone, that was one less worry for Noel to think about. And when one leaves, three more appear.[break][break]

One Paradox Legendary Pokemon was already a hassle to deal with, now he and his Shaymin would have to put up three times more the effort. The two of them lock eyes with their enemies, preparing themselves for an attack.[break][break]

So this is what the powers of an avatar can do. Each one he had faced so far varied greatly in strength and abilities. Cillian Quinn, jayden cross, Zev Harcourt, and now Naomi Sato... All too dangerous. All who have attempted to end his life. All that he'll put an end to one day.[break][break]

And for The Visionary, that day is today.[break][break]

But through these trials and tribulations, he's grown in ways he never knew he could. Stronger. Wiser... Yet still the fool for trusting in others so easily.[break][break]

"So you can do a fancy trick. Well I've got one even better for you, one that you've helped us get ready for."[break][break]

Light cascades over the atrium, filling the once dark void now with bountiful heat. Noel's Shaymin quickly draws in power, a green hue that radiates off the hedgehog's body. Thanks to the aid of the Sunny Day, it's able to fire off a Solar Beam without any of the preparation. The unexpectedly large laser shoots ahead and aims to knock out each Gouging Fire in one fell swoop.[break][break]

They needed to hurry. There was no telling what truly laid beyond the door. If Rocket managed to be one step ahead of him and ambush Nenet, then he'd fail his one and only objective.

Time seems to stand still, the fate of their entire operation hanging by a delicate thread.[break][break]
And then, finally, the door opens.[break][break]
As it does, the Shaymin releases a super-powered SOLAR BEAM, inadvertently boosted by Pyro's ancient sunlight. Green energy rockets through the copies of the Gouging Fire, shattering shards of blue crystal in all directions. Nomi winces, sweat beading along her hairline as she concentrates on dissipating the deadly fragments before they can pierce her or Nenet.[break][break]
Pyro roars, opening its maw to blast a FLARE BLITZ at the League trainer and his Shaymin; these flames are also enhanced by the light flooding the room, powerfully bright. Whether her adversaries are able to dodge out of the way in time, Nomi does not get a chance to see, for she takes advantage of the attack to immediately teleport into the laboratory after Nenet.[break][break]
Before she can do anything else, however, her vision goes dark.[break][break]

"Hmm, it's your lucky day."

Nomi freezes. Her eyes widen in shock, unseeing even as the world flickers back into view. That voice. She knows that voice. She would know it anywhere; hears it in her dreams.[break][break]
A coin flips, spins in the air, and Nomi recalls with a heart-stopping dread the last time she'd seen him. Her own face, cold and calculating - no mere false persona, adopted for a mission, but the real thing - stares at her across timelines, the word EXALTED resonating through her soul as she whispers, "Father Winter."[break][break]
A starry beam of energy, a body thumping to the floor: the sights and sounds that drag her back to the current moment.[break][break]
Black-clad figures - faces masked, bodies outlined with the faintest hint of pixelation - have manifested around her. Kallistatus is there, hovering in front of her, sparkling with extraterrestrial potential. Somewhere behind her, she senses Pyro's fallen, crumpled form - defeated in the moment of her distraction by her would-be assassins.[break][break]
Everything else fades away. Their objective. The war. Rocket. The Visionary faces the DRK Triad, her true enemy, and a part of her knows - has always known - that they'd been watching for the exact right moment to strike.[break][break]
"Run!" She calls out to Nenet. "They're here for me."

Her hands flying across the terminal to check feeds, confirm locations, and feed intel into her League commset, Nenet only pauses her work when Nomi flits into her line of sight. Her brow furrows - the girl before her looks stricken - and then before anything can be confirmed and continued the shadows coalesce and Nomi panics. For an instant she sees bodies moving, one's that remind her of the DRK Triad, but she can't do much of anything to help.

"Move," she snarls in return Nomi's own urging to flee. The young woman would be dead if she just stood here. Nenet's expression hardens. Hands stilling, she glances around her quickly to ascertain the best course of action. In a split second she rips out the USB, hopes the data upon it hasn't corrupted, and darts across the room to one of the shelves beneath a shimmering Protect as Pyroar is loosened from her pokeball.

There, she grabs several blueprint tubes - ones marked with SECRET stickers - and bolts from the room with the lioness hot on her trail.
[break][break]
Right into Noel.
[break][break]
Two of the cardboard tubes in her arms slips from her grip as she slams into the man's chest and takes Pyroar to the back of the knees.

She can hear a fight beginning to break out behind her and laments the damage about to be done to the lab. Gritting her teeth, managing to stay upright, she eyes them with betrayal as they clatter on the ground and roll towards Nomi. They would have to be abandoned, or stolen by the Avatar in question if she can pull herself together.

Maybe she could get Noel to leave them.
[break][break]
"We have to get these out," Nenet snarls fiercely. "She's in there, and someone else." She can hear a fight beginning to break out behind her and already laments the damage about to be done.
