He focuses on this feeling, spreading his awareness through it, until something.. clicks.

FEYMIST permeates, like a heavy fog, and Zamazenta appears from it. The lining of a portal, cobalt blue and thrumming with mysterious power, manifests. A massive tree superimposes an even larger meadow.

Then another portal appears and he understands intrinsically that this wasn't his, but theirs.

Curiosity piqued, he steps through.

He breathes in the scent of mist and trees so old that the names Navidson and Connors had not yet been conceived when they were young. A gentle waterfall dumps water into a lake by a raised dais. This is a resting place for heroes, and it is they that offer the latest to bear that title succor.[break][break]
Navy turns as he senses another for the first time. Most nights he spends wandering Dewford like a phantom. Zacian called him here tonight, but not just Zacian. Two more appear, a younger brother and his senior Elite Four.[break][break]
Zacian bows her head in respect to Greyson. The Elite trainer reminds her of another, one who helped hone her blade long ago. Though he is not her sword brother, she holds him in esteem so high that the difference is hard to discern.[break][break]
“Connors.” Navy says, sitting on pedestal worn down to be chest height by time and condensation. Here, he looks older, a greybeard with tired eyes. In his hands he holds Ascalon, sword of promised victory. He polishes it quietly, knowing that soon enough the world will have need of the blade. “It’s good to see you. I see your shield brother summoned you here as well.”[break][break]
Zacian walks up to Zamazenta, her own Ascalon strapped across her back, and stands beside her brother. She turns to regard the two humans. It’s a rare sight, to see the two heroes brought together, and it warms the Rider’s heart.

Zamazenta, unlike his sister, huffs and lowers his titanic form to the grass. To an onlooker he might've seemed lazy, or undignified, but Greyson knew the truth.

It didn't stand on ceremony if it could help it.

Greyson moves to approach Navy, eyes still wandering the ancient weld. Mist clung to the edges of his vision indicating a world beyond, shrouded.

"Navy," He says, returning the customary greeting. "Quite a predicament we've found ourselves in now."

“Took ‘em long enough, huh?” The warrior nods at their companions. Zacian, nowhere near as formal with her sword brother as she is with Greyson, huffs as if she has baker’s dozen things to say to him. Owing to the severity of the occasion, she speaks none of them. Let their oathsworn consort with one another.[break][break]
“Still remember when Kyle came home from Johto saying Ho-oh blessed him. Sounded like somethin’ out of…” His eyes look about the weld. “…a different time.”

“Now?” He feels like he’s standing at the center of everything, like every path every man has ever walked is open to him. All he has to do is choose a direction and walk. Greyson is his own man, he can go his own way, but Navy feels bound to him now in an inexorable we. There are two heroes in the legend, not one.[break][break]
“We do what we were gonna do before. Play our part. Win the war with everyone. Fight whatever tries to hurt our world.” He stands up at last, looking towards the dogs. “We’re lucky, Connors.” A small pause, and he allows himself familiarity. “Greyson.” A small correction, but, he thinks, a crucial one.[break][break]
“Zacian and Zamazenta aren’t gods. We don’t need them to be warriors. We’re the kind of guys who’d show up anyway.” He searches both heroes’ eyes, one after the other. “Think they know that. Think that’s why they decided we’re the people they wanna go into battle with.” [break][break]
And, as they all know, as is repeated by every pair of lips in places as low as Littleroot dive bars and high as Ever Grande’s council chamber, war is coming. They’re soldiers, pledged to fight as Hoenn’s Elite. They’ll be expected on the frontlines.[break][break]
“I’m going to Sootopolis, whenever Freya gives the signal. You going on the offense, too?”

"I won't, no. Don't think that's my role anymore. Not really, at least. Someone needs to help Gwyar Wledig in Mossdeep."

“You can’t. No one can.” Is the answer he eventually drums up. “But you’re not alone. There were two heroes in the story, and there’s plenty of avatars on our side.” The more he thinks on the matter of Galar and that long-ago battle between the black knight, the skeleton gigantic, and the heroes, the more he thinks the heroes had an army of their own. That part of their Galarian dream, he believes, was no allegory.[break][break]
“What, don’t remember that time you wrote me up for charging Walking Wake by myself?” He tries to lighten the mood with a smile and a laugh on the last syllable. “If we work together, we win.”
