That was besides the point. His Pokemon fell into the sand pits, but that didn't mean that walking wake was alone. In fact, his claydol appeared to take on the fight.

"Is that one going to gigantamax too?" she asked. But there was a feeling of triumph when she had successfully quelled the giant colossal.

"I wouldn't be surprised. The bigger they are, the harder they fall."

He chuckled lightly, before raising his hands in surrender.

"Sorry. Sorry! I get giddy when Dynamaxed Pokémon get knocked down. Call it a personal quirk or a defect." The last time he made a comment about a woman's weight, he had slept on the couch for a month. Diana couldn't do much beyond that, but she could mess with all his lab stuff back in Area Zero. "I'll drop it."

Crumble floated by, innocently. Howard looked at it thoughtfully.

"Can't Dynamax again, sorry. Besides, that'd turn my Sygna Suit off, right? How else could I teleport while calling you names?" He crossed his legs from the boulder he sat upon. "So unless you want to say hi to Regice, that's it."

Nobody wanted to say hi to Regice, and frankly Howard didn't want to do another repeat of Dewford.

"But seriously..." His eye flickered with veins of red energy. "That was good. You did good."

He blinked.

"Be proud."

She'd deny her amusement if he pointed it out.

"I see. I still have much to learn about all of these gadgets." Dynamax made more sense, but sygna suits were another thing she had barely touched upon. She merely knew the name.

"No, thanks. I'd rather fight colossal again than see it."

As much as he hated walking wake, Diana felt the same regarding regice.

She recalled the beast of old back into its luxury ball, allowing it to rest up. The sandstorm was fading, the reflection of the sun bouncing off the newly formed glass on the ground.

"Complimenting me doesn't suit you, Mr. Slayte," she teased, though she came to sit on the dune beside him. "Do you really believe I have potential?"

Diana allowed herself to be vulnerable for just a moment. She needed this. She needed to prove herself to jayden cross. Otherwise, she feared that he'd kill her before she brought in Remiel Calcifet.

Her question reminded him of a distant memory of a man who had once tried to teach him how to fight. Absentmindedly, he dug his hand into the sand and watched it fall between burned fingers. He moved each one in order, to ensure that each digit still functioned with the dexterity he was used to.

That Wishing Star had ruined his arm, but if he could still use it with minimal scarring, he would. When his forefinger twitched early, the admin's eye twitched in annoyance.

Defective.

"I once told someone that every person in this world is limited by the amount of talent they're born with. Some people are swifter. Some are slow. Some are born into luxury. Some into squalor. Some are strong. Some... are weak." He spoke from experience. "If you practice, you can make up for that lack of talent with hard work."

He stared at his Dynamax Band. He know little more than her. Dynamax was his forte, so he knew how it worked with his toys. Yet Sygna Suits were an anomaly. He mostly used them to get his keys from the table in his apartment without getting out of bed.

"Or by making your own future. We use what potential we have, no little how little or vast, to do what we must. Which is why..."

He smiled faintly.

"We'll do this again next week. And the week after that. I expect you to do it faster each time, as well. Zacian didn't let me take days off, so neither will you."
