Scanning the chaos of the sinking platform below, Pamplemousse spotted signs of movement. Sitting astride Jack's Corviknight, watched as Sharpedo fins circled around a small building that was gradually sliding below the waves. From the building's roof, he could make out four figures frantically waving up at him.[break][break]

He felt no worry for the stranding people, only purpose that a mission needed to be completed. Controlling the Corviknight with his knees, he sent to the pokemon to hover level with his assigned partner for this operation, the Head Ranger.[break][break]

"Four stranded on the building at our 3 o'clock position, surrounded by hostile Sharpedo. I'll draw the pokemon off but I won't be able to carry all of the people before they are in the water." In contrast to their current situation his voice was free of emotion, almost cold. He gave a curt nod to the Head Ranger before flying off without waiting for a reply.[break][break]

Skimming across the top of the water, Pamplemousse flew close enough for the Corviknight to scratch at the fins of one of the Sharpedo before they passed over. He guided one of the Corviknight's outstretched wings into the water, using the drag to turn the raven pokemon and stir up sound on the surface that could draw the attacking Sharpedo away.

"we should be quick," ollie said, nodding with agreement. "i just got a call saying that there might be a frenzied gyarados headed this way too."

[break][break] the head ranger, sitting atop his PIDGEOT, glanced down at his navi-watch, the one that he was testing out thanks to Yujin Ha. on its screen, he could see the GPS locations of all the rangers deployed for the day.

[break][break] "right! let's go!"

[break][break] with a sharp whistle, the head ranger led the way down towards the building and the stranded civilians. he would let jack wainwright handle the wild pokemon, for now.

[break][break] "c'mon, everyone. it's going to be okay! we'll get to you for safety."

[break][break] releasing several pokeballs that contained pokemon borrowed from freya morningstar's draciary.

[break][break] "take your time - if you need help getting on board, let me know."

[break][break] some civilians seemed more cautious than others, blinking wide eyes at beautiful, shimmering scales that could only be a product of morningstar's prodigious line.

Feeling the pressure of neutralizing the Sharpedo threat before the reported Gyarados made its way to them, Pamplemousse spurred his mount to increase the speed. While the Corviknight's splashing and antics were holding the attention of the attacking Sharpedo, it seemed it was only just barely. He spent more and more time swooping out to cut off individuals trying to circle back to where Ollie was evacuating the trapped individuals.[break][break]

Pamplemousse assessed the progress of the evacuation from afar, unhappy with the pace of the civilians. "This isn't working. I'm changing strategy," he spoke into his communication device to the Head Ranger, "I'm going to forcibly move them away but you may get some strays while I reposition."[break][break]

Jack seemed to think the Head Ranger was a capable trainer, so Pamplemousse figured he could handle a few Sharpedo if he needed to. Abruptly turning about, he aimed the Corviknight at the pursuing pokemon and snatched two of them, one in each of the Corviknight's steely claws. Powerful wing beats lifted them over the waves as he headed toward an open tank he had spotted earlier on the platform. Aiming carefully, he ordered the Corviknight to release their payload, watching the two Sharpedo fall like bombs before splashing into the large tank of water.[break][break]

Diving downward again, the Corviknight grabbed two more even as Pamplemousse saw a sharp dorsal fin turn in the water and head toward the evacuating people. "One coming your way," said calmly on the communication line as he headed toward the tank with his two Sharpedo.

[break][break] It seemed sudden, then again, the tide was rising and the aggressive Sharpedo seemed only to get closer. He had to yank one of the young boys away from the edge as he helped his grandmother climb aboard the loaned Salamance.

[break][break] "Got it," he affirmed into the communication channels, verdant eyes shifting just in time to catch side of a pair of Sharpedo racing quickly towards them.

[break][break] "Watch out!"

[break][break] He jumped in the face of a pregnant civilian as she climbed atop a Dragonair. With a flash of his wrist, he released his Togekiss into the air to defend them with a SAFEGUARD.

[break][break] "Jellybean — draw them away and give us more time."

[break][break] With a trill, the Togekiss flew away and slashed down it's broad wings with AIR SLASHES. Water splashed as the aggressive pokemon turned to attack the airborne pokemon, swimming after her as she cut through the summer blue skies, shooting stray bouts of AQUA JET that only barely missed.

[break][break] "Right," Ollie said after a few moments, finally strapping the last of the children onto his own Dragonite. "Think we're ready!"

Pamplemousse grunted impatiently. The Head Ranger had deftly intercepted the rogue Sharpedo but the evacuation was dragging on.[break][break]

"What's the status report on the Gyarados?" he said into his communicator, hoping the pokemon had changed course for another area. The speaker crackled to life as another Ranger reported the last known heading of the Gyarados. Still heading their way.[break][break]

Jack's Corviknight swooped down to hover next to Ollie. Casting a disappointed frown at the remaining civilians, he turned to address the Head Ranger. "If you didn't hear the last comm, report is we'll have company soon. I'll delay it as much as possible."[break][break]

Using the Corviknight's slaws, Pamplemousse began scooping up concrete barriers used to prevent erosion, walkway dividers, rubble, and anything else that looked like it could hold up to punishment. Flying in a tight pattern, he dropped each clawful in strategic locations that would be unable to stop an angry Gyarados but would force it to slow down to navigate the rubble.

"Thanks, Jack! You guys heard 'em — take off!"

[break][break] A sharp whistle from the Head Ranger sent the civilians and their freya morningstar-borrowed dragons into the air. Unfortunately, it seemed that the Gyarados was much closer than anticipated.

[break][break] Ollie raced ahead of the group on his Dragonite, relying on his pokemon's powerful wingbeats to take him ahead of the pack as jack wainwright dealt with anymore debris and rubble that were left in the way. The raging Gyarados - which could be seen in the distance - didn't seem to mind; the opposite, in fact, as it raged and barreled through any floating logs or metal parts that still lingered in the air from Sea Mauville's sudden wreckage.

[break][break] A THUNDER WAVE wrestled the raging creature in place, wrapping around the pokemon like an electric net.

[break][break] "Head west!" he advised the crew, pointing towards an island in the distance where a Ranger-provided haven existed. The first aid tent would provide adequate cover, while he and Jack dealt with the hot-tempered serpent.

"Nice net," Pamplemousse complimented the Head Ranger on the well placed thunder wave. Where did the sudden need to give feedback come from? He shook his head, the slight smile on his face fading away.[break][break]

"Let's try to redirect it to open water away from the facility," he said to Ollie without emotion. He quickly pulled Jack's Corviknight away from the man and headed toward the rampaging Gyarados.[break][break]

Even more enraged now that the Head Ranger had ensnared it, Pamplemousse got as close as he dared before commanding the Corviknight to pull a scary face. The Raven Pokemon turned his beady, red eye toward the Gyarados before letting out a series of fearsome caws that Pamplemousse hoped would scare the pokemon off.

Nodding in agreement, Ollie trusted his Pidgeot to lead the group of civilians towards safety while he and Jack handled the raging Gyarados.

[break][break] "Nice thinking, Jack! C'mon, let's go Stache!"

[break][break] With the raging pokemon briefly paralyzed by the SCARY FACE, he whistled for his Dragonite to take advantage. Strong wing-beats propelled a TWISTER out of the orange dragon, pushing the Gyarados further out into sea.

[break][break] Together, they managed to bring the wild Pokémon out of its frenzy. It shook itself free from it's agitation, before then turning and disappearing into the sea, so that it could nurse it's aching body in piece.

Pamplemousse kept a wary eye on the Gyarados until he deemed it was truly headed out to sea. Turning to the Head Ranger, he nodded in acknowledgement though his face remained expressionless.[break][break]

"It was what needed to be done to accomplish the mission," he said in response to the man's praise. While he spoke, his eyes scanned the area around them for further threats.[break][break]

"I don't see anything else that needs our attention at this sector. I'll do a flyover to make sure the evacuees all made it and then pick up a new assignment." His words were flat and disconnected, as if this were simply any other day and any other task. With another nod to Ollie, he directed Jack's Corviknight out over the path their group had gone with a blank expression on his face.
