It hadn't really been that long since Roze had met the sheriff of Dewford, the man who'd solved her rather unfortunate plate predicament. While it might have made sense that he'd be here, considering the relatively close proximity of Sea Mauville to Dewford, Roze'd still been happily surprised to have found herself working alongside the man to help with the Sea Mauville problem.[break][break]

The duo'd found themselves responding to an issue in particular, a larger pokémon residing within the dilapidated complex had grown agitated by the sudden shift in its environment, rampaging and dissuading other volunteers from being able to work any further in the area, blocking access to a key entrance and some other important rooms in the complex from an open section of the Sea Mauville. There'd been a further problem that it seemed a handful of other wild pokémon had been trapped by the wild pokémon in question.[break][break]

"We ought to assess the situation, right, Navy?" she'd asked with a cheery smile, happy and relieved to have a familiar face around for this particular mission. The conservationist had let out her Talonflame, and with a quick, fairly quiet signalling whistle, she'd given her instructions which had been met with a nod, as the Talonflame soared high overhead, giving the duo a bird's eye view to report back to them after a brief moment.

A great sea dragon rampages throughout Sea Mauville’s innards. With all the excitement, the beast decided now would be the perfect time to assert its rightful place as the platform’s ruler. It wasn’t, but try explaining that to a creature in the throes of dragon rage.[break][break]
“Sounds good. There’ll probably be some Pokemon running away from him. Just run in the direction they’re running from and we’ll find the big guy in no time.”[break][break]
When their scout brought confirmation of his words, he nods and starts walking forward. At his side hangs a sword, humming softly. Water is pouring into the facility from all sides. A quick flick of his pokeball summons Hattori, the small Greninja from before. The frog fires an ice beam that creates a platform, allowing them safe passage. It won’t be much farther now.[break][break]
“Only way to talk sense into a Gyarados is to beat it up ‘til it’s too tired to do anything but listen. We’ve got a fight on our hands. You ready?” From beneath his hat’s shadow, the hard gunmetal of his eyes searched her. “You good with any weapons? Just in case.”

With her Talonflame managing to quickly lead the two, Roze had returned him to his ball, nodding to Navy as she'd sent out her Dragalge alongside Hattori, though at the mention of a weapon, she'd found herself surprised, "I usually don't like fighting pokémon, even battles were a bit rarer for me until recently," she'd answered, she was very reliant on her pokémon for most things, and otherwise preferred more peaceful methods with a gentler approach.[break][break]

Nonetheless, with a quiet whistle, her Dragalge utilising his Camouflage to hide away and carefully make his approach towards the Gyarados, setting up an ambush.[break][break]

She'd understood Navy's point, a rampaging Gyarados was the last thing they needed, and tiring it out was their only real option with just how blinding their burning rage was. The movements of the sea serpent were enough to create choppy enough waves that even aboard the frozen float, the rocking movement made their approach all the more arduous, errant bursts of flame and energy being blasted about the area.

“Mmm.” She has no experience with fighting, or so Roze’s words lead him to believe. The sheriff is not surprised. Even in times such as these, there are peaceful folk. A glimmer of hope sits in his heart where annoyance should be. Roze will do well in the tomorrow after this war is over, at least as she is now.[break][break]
“Roland, help us out.” They approach the battlefield, but obstacles still block their way. Out comes Roland, a one-armed Iron Valiant. His eyes survey the fires that threaten his liege lord and the lady accompanying them. Navy holds out his hand and imagines a rod from an old legend, one that spilled water when its wielder struck a stone in frustration.[break][break]
It appears from thin air, pressed into Roland’s hand. The knight, now cast in the role of wizard, commands the surf with his rod. It rises, dousing the fire and procuring safe passage for the two.[break][break]
The water ripples. Force rocks their float. From below, the raging brute rises, roaring in anger, looking upon the intruders with furious rebuke. Energy gathers in his maw, but Navy only smiles. Gyarados has not yet noticed the unseen Pokemon waiting to strike him down.

Yet another curious pokémon that Roze had never seen before, her eyes had looked over the Iron Valiant, she'd leaned closer, her finger over her lower lip, like a cat full of curiosity at a newfound wonder, she'd barely even blinked. She'd muttered to herself slightly, the creature's appearance reminiscent of a Gardevoir and Gallade, yet still odd and distant, the pokémon's—it was a pokémon, right?—metallic frame making it all the more curious to look at, the conservationist in all her joyous love for pokémon had been muttering to herself whatever mental observations she had, the first time she'd gotten to look at an uniquely rare pokémon she'd never encountered up close.[break][break]

She'd almost been a little too distracted, nearly forgetting their mission and current peril, before an errant wave had nearly caused her to stumble from the rise of the Gyarados to the surface, her one free hand used to keep her stable as the flower-adorned woman crouched down, "apologies," she'd said awkwardly with a cheery laugh despite their danger.[break][break]

She'd been so entranced with the appearance of a new pokémon that she'd even failed to notice Navy's summoning, fully assuming it to simply be a power of the pokémon itself.[break][break]

As the giant sea serpent had breached the water, bearing down on the two trainers with a beam attack, the Gyarados had failed to notice Roze's Dragalge who had hidden himself amongst the kelp and stone, at the culmination of the Gyarados' Hyper Beam, the blue serpent had been suddenly blindsided by a deluge of toxic sludge, the Sludge Bomb knocking its attack off course and barely missing the trainers aboard their frozen skiff.

Roland lets the staff slip free from his hand. It is gone like so much feymist before it even hits the ground beneath his feet. In its place comes a singing orange blade, alive with the humming of a newborn galaxy. Roland eyes the monster above him, another dragon to be cast down. The iron knight’s blade calls out to the heaven. The fury of a thousand thunderbolts is his answer.[break][break]
They fall upon the Gyarados like the roar of an angry god. One, two, a deluge of thunder, the storm of the century, all conjured by his blade. Roland never binks, never looks away. He simply strikes, not wanting to disappoint his liege lord or the beautiful princess who accompanies the man. Her hair reminds the knight of a shiny Gardevoir, of a maiden his ghost misses dearly.[break][break]
“Somethin’s sure got into Roland today.” Laughs the oblivious warrior, who himself conjures a gun from the aether. The Pale Rider raises his gun, takes aim, fires an anchor shot across its mouth, ensuring that the hyper beam has nowhere else to go.[break][break]
“Keep up the pressure! He’ll be down fer the count soon!”

Roze hadn't quite noticed the reason for the Iron Valiant's enamour, simply caught up in the moment making sure she wouldn't be an anchor to drag down Navy nor his pokémon. While she herself hadn't been much of a fighter nor battler, the conservationist did her best to keep her eye out to try and make sure they wouldn't be caught off guard.[break][break]

As the Gyarados flailed about in rage, the sea serpent's tail would lash out—less so an attack so much the beast's blind anger, yet nonetheless a danger to their makeshift platform—a quick whistle from Roze had been returned with a Hydro Pump from below the waters, pushing the platform to the side while holding the Gyarados back, even without dealing much damage considering the types.[break][break]

"We ought to make sure we're not in its way when it flees," Roze had added, her reasoning pushing that allowing a path of escape would help ensure the sea serpent wouldn't stress and panic further when cornered.

“Escape?” Asks the sheriff as his hand was thumbing an ultra ball. He supposes, upon reflection, that she is right. Better to let it live free than grow miserable in a comfortable nature reserve.[break][break]
“Yeah. Probably the smart move. Roland. You heard her.” So Roland did, and so he nods. The thunderbolts seem to veer off course more and more, their platform tilting just enough for the Gyarados to notice there’s an escape path – one that will take him to open water.[break]

Roze had smiled as Navy seemed to be fine with her desire to let the Gyarados free, it hadn't exactly been malevolent, more likely than not, the sea serpent's ire had likely been drawn from panic as its home began to shift, she didn't quite feel right forcing it to relocate beyond whatever aftermath may befall the Sea Mauville.[break][break]

Following Navy's pace, she'd sent out another pokémon, a gentle howl echoing throughout the area as her snow white Ninetales had stepped forward atop the icy platform, one of her newer meets, Roze admittedly hadn't quite trained to a sense of familiarity with her quite yet, simply opting for a vocal request rather than one of her trained whistle responses, "A quick Freeze-Dry if you could, Apricity!" she'd called out with a confident tone.[break][break]

With a simple nod, her Ninetales had brushed her many tails along the ice, sweeping them simply before gently exhaling a wave of pure cold that instantly froze the water along its path in its very shape, almost startlingly quick as it reached the Gyarados, as it had reached, Roze had whistled once more, this time, a command for her Dragalge; a billowing cloud of blackened smoke had engulfed the giant sea serpent as soon as the icy exhalation had reached it, impairing vision in an attempt to persuade the rageful pokémon to flee.
