TAG WITH @shalinnariya
Shalin Nariya
Shalin saw so many faces by virtue of being a Captain that it was natural for her to forget. She had nothing to say about the revelation that this "Jason" wasn't who he said he was. She had to conserve what little energy she had remaining... especially once she was not just sitting on, but harnessed to, the giant Venusaur's vine. She knew how fast they accelerated and the kind of stress it put on her without a Sygna Suit. She remembered how wren rourke had given her a taste of what the action was like before she had synced her suit to Saria. Though it kept her safe, a single crack of the whip left her exhausted.
Dressed in the same foliage-covered, flower-covered suit Shalin had used, she thought it looked disgusting on Dorian. As the Mad Dog got himself harnessed in, the suit he wore, as well as the Venusaur himself, glowed with a faint green light. That light did not surround Shalin, and did not protect her. Too weak to respond, she didn't return a word Dorian said, though the despair in her eyes and on her face may have told him all he needed to know about seeing another person wearing the suit she worked so hard to craft.
Without the suit's protection, she was much more sensitive to even the motion of Dorian's Venusaur drawing its vines back. He had spared no subtleties, putting the harnessing keeping them on the very end of the vines. Just what material was it made out of to be able to withstand the kind of force it would have to absorb? That was the least of her worries.
Dorian's Venusaur was stronger than Saria was, the girl's eyes widening when she saw just how far behind the vine's arch Dorian got. When that loop undid itself from the pulse shooting down each long vine, the power with which they would be flung about would be immense. So immense that she was worried Dorian would go too far, the harnessing flattening her skin and even snapping her bones in two.
With little she could do, she maintained per posture, sitting on the vine just as she would when she wore her suit. She and Dorian both flew upward as each wave reached the end of its vine.
CRACK!!
For a moment, Dorian's and Shalin would go completely deaf, the Mad Dog and his Venusaur enveloped in green light almost too bright to look at. The loop at the end of the vine undid itself in a violent circular motion, swinging in a complete circle faster than their eyes could update the image and transmit it to their brains. A giant spike of Infinity Energy would shoot through Dorian the moment of the crack, inciting perhaps the greatest adrenaline rush the Rocket had ever experienced. In one split second, flicking forward; in another, twirled around in a supersonic circle; in the next, flying in a totally different direction, all faster than the human eye could see or the brain could comprehend in real time.
The footage, if there was any, might need to have been studied under a high speed camera to fully understand it.
There was no such scream from the unprotected Shalin. Unprotected, the whip hurled her about like a ragdoll. Red bruises expanded from every joint in all four of her limbs, leaving her in so much pain that she couldn't even speak. She couldn't scream. All she could do was weakly tilt her head toward the Sygna Suited Dorian in the waning moments of her consciousness.
Once the whips had calmed down, he would see an unconscious Shalin dangling from the cracker, unless the Venusaur was holding her up at an angle where her limp body would remain seated on it. She was out cold and looked like she was in miserable shape. Had Dorian overdone it again?
