if you told reese months ago that he'd be living with one of the calcifets, he'd have told you to stop joking around. as it is now, he's still in a state of cheery disbelief. his previous roommate had moved out, and elise's home had unfortunately been flooded, so he'd been more than happy to offer a place to stay, however long she needed to stay for. it wasn't exactly the most extravagant living situation, but it was clean and out of the way in beautiful verdanturf.

the moving van pulls up, and reese greets elise as she exits the vehicle. "welcome to le château de reese," they joke nervously. their lurantis stands near, ready to receive anything she'll be capable of lifting. "and this is carnation-- she'll be helping us today." carnation gives a little bow as she's introduced, a spark of showmanship still in her despite the fact that she hasn't done a contest in years.

the front door is already open. without warning, a ribombee whirls out of it, flying up to elise and practically dancing in excitement before her. reese laughs. "how could i forget peach-- she was a gift from remiel, so she's... very happy you'll be here."

Luckily, the living situation in Reese’s home would be better than to be out in the streets. It helped that he knew her elder cousin and she was able to grab some of the things from her home before leaving for Petalburg’s line of defense that day. Her Marshadow steps out of the moving van after she helps with carrying the boxes to take over to her.[break][break]

“Thank you for the welcome. Reese.” A nod came from the Galarian Ambassador as she’ll smile at his Lurantis and Ribombee. “It’s good to meet both Carnation and Peach. Especially since Peach is a gift from my eldest cousin.” [break][break]

She knew that her cousin was very nice when people would think that he’s the type to be a pompous prince. “Well, thank you for being able to house me. I’ll have to avoid Lilycove City since it has been flooded along with the routes next to it.” Elise thanks her gracious host which he was an acquaintance of her cousin’s too.

reese starts to unload as well, though unfortunately for elise there isn't really a lot to unload. getting her bed through the door is going to be the hardest part, probably. "to be honest, i'm surprised there isn't someone else you'd rather room with," he says sheepishly, carrying what seems to be a box of books to the front door. carnation carries a smaller box in her arms, handling it delicately since she doesn't exactly have hands.

reese opens the door. before they can enter, though, an appletun toddles out, curious about the commotion. "blossom--" reese grunts, nearly tripping over her. the small dragon type has a way of getting underfoot thanks to her more oblivious nature.

the appletun doesn't care. she sticks her head in one of the boxes, eyeing its contents. reese gently nudges her away with a foot. "sorry. she's very nosy."

Her hands carry the boxes of books that she saved from before the Sootopolis flooding and because there were many from her old bookcase, her Marshadow had already set down the box she was carrying and ran off to carry the other books in another box. Reese talks about being surprised that she wouldn’t find anyone else to room with her, given that she had so much friends to live in with.[break][break]

“Well, I would rather be close to where I can commute to Rustboro City.” She gives her reply to Reese. “And you seem to know my cousin rather well. It works out for me until my father can suggest me a place to live in Rustboro.” [break][break]

When her new roommate opens the door, the familiar form of an Appletun goes over to the boxes and tries to look at its contents. Elise does find Appletun to be cute because her cousin owned several at his draciary. The ones at his draciary were always very happy to play with her Dragapult’s babies when she came to see them.[break][break]

“Oh not to worry, Reese.” She lets out a little laugh when she sees Blossom poke around the boxes. “I think Blossom is very cute. She reminds me of the Appletun that my cousin owns at his draciary.”

elise's reasoning makes sense, honestly. verdanturf is connected to rustboro via the cave nearby, and it's not a long trip at all. reese makes the trip himself sometimes, when he and his pokemon want to stretch their legs a bit. being from the boonies, though, he tends to get a bit overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the city, which is why he chose verdanturf of all places to live. it reminds him of his hometown in sinnoh, floaroma, a town covered in flowers.[break][break]

he blinks when elise makes the comparison to to remiel's draciary. he laughs sheepishly. "ah, that's actually where she's from..." he explains, as he goes back to lift another box. "i've been a few times now. blossom loves to play with the pokemon there." he supposes it's like visiting family for her. his other pokemon enjoy the visits as well, but only blossom and peach have any strong connections there.[break][break]

the next box is put away. carnation the lurantis has a bag in her claws now, carrying it gingerly over the threshold into the apartment. they're making steady progress... likely because so many of elise's belongings were lost in the flood. at least she has the financial backing to recover from the not-so-natural disaster, reese thinks.
