Josh's eyes shifted to their surroundings as Nicholas got to work stabilizing the child. His story was perhaps a little exaggerated, but couldn't have been too far from the truth. The Gym Leader had recovered from some horrifying injuries in the past. He knew the effort it took from all sides to heal from those. It seemed like, much as with his own, simple Pokémon healing would not be enough to nurse the child back to health.

When requested, Josh slid down from Nuka's back, the lion walking toward the girl and crouching, as if beckoning her to climb on. "Let's do it! As far as I know, the species has no official name. He looks like Suicune to me, which is why I call him Suicune!" With a helping hand, he would get the child as comfortably seated as possible on the Walking Wake before hopping on behind. Given the boy's condition, the Gym Leader felt more comfortable controlling the paradox Pokémon himself.

"right, then, let's do this," nick says, feeling the first twinges of nervousness as he helps the boy onto josh's walking wake. "carefully, now..."[break][break]

with josh's help, the boy is soon settled onto the back of the massive walking wake, and the girl on the back of tazama, which nick also sidles atop soon after her. "i've got you," he says, hoping his voice is steadier than his nerves. "you're safe now."[break][break]

the children, at least, seem to be calming down a bit. the girl even manages a small smile as she tentatively pets tazama's head, and the boy's unconscious breath has grown steadier. still, it's clear that they've been through a lot, and it'll take more than just a ride on a pokemon to erase that trauma. regardless, physical healing will be the first step in their path to recovery. it's best they get on the road.[break][break]

nick looks up to the sky, where his braviary still patrols the area, and he offers a hand motion to the bird. solomon, spotting his trainer, dips his head and ceases his circling in favor of leading a path out of the forest.[break][break]

"onward to oldale town," he says, hoping his voice carries more confidence than he feels. "let's get these kids to safety."

The trip to Oldale Town was longer than Josh was used to. He and his lions were used to moving at incredible speeds, as was Suicune. A blast of Hydro Steam could replicate the effects of a Tailwind, causing the raptor to run just as fast as the Beast that Josh mistook him for. Suicune let out a majestic cry as he felt the boy stir and move, maintaining the walking to trotting pace Josh kept the Pyroar to.

The Champion breathed a huge sigh of relief once they were outside of the limits of Petalburg surveillance. "We should be fine now. Let's get their Pokémon to a Pokémon Center and them to an immediate care facility. You were a huge help. Thank you, Nick." Once they were at Oldale Town, Josh called the medical facility on the north side, making sure they had the help they needed getting the two children off his Pokémon and in the hands of the medical staff that would make them feel good as new.
