Unfortunate circumstances were abound as of late. In Hoenn, in GIDEON GRAVES's life.[break][break]

A flat tire saw him stranded on the side of a desolate road in the middle of Route 104. He'd been meaning to hurry through the area, knowing that the territory had been under dispute. Trying to go down alternate routes would have made his trip exorbitantly longer. Surely nothing would happen, right?[break][break]

"Proteus, why am I such an idiot sometimes?" He asked his SLOWKING after gently lobbing its DIVE BALL — a token of his days in Alola, where he'd captured the Pokémon as a juvenile SLOWPOKE — near the rear of the vehicle.[break][break]

"Help me get this changed? We need to be quick."[break][break]

Another Dive Ball was being tossed up and down in Tempest's hand. It was worn and chipped, the paint having faded from repeated use over the years. A product of home. Of the life before Rocket, of another time when...[break][break]

"Hey." Is barked, baritone growling it out. Not aggressive- yet - but with a warning held within. An Eevee stuck to his heels, the chattering fox tilting her small face to stare at the Slowking with something like hunger. Tempest does not have a mask on; he'd never seen much point in them. If Cillian Quinn could show himself with pride so could his husband.[break][break]

Tempest smiles and crosses his arms, all sharp teeth and no kindness.[break][break]

GIDEON GRAVES's body stiffened upon hearing Tempest Quinn's booming voice. None too friendly, that much was obvious. Probably wasn't intending to lend a hand with the tire, either.[break][break]

Brave face. Even tone. Disarm, disengage.[break][break]

"I do, though it's not the best." Gideon admitted, pushing himself up from the ground and onto his feet. His SLOWKING did the same while watching the other man's chittering EEVEE with a suspicious eye. [break][break]

"The damage isn't too bad. A quick tire change and it'll be good as new. I even have a spare in the back," He hitched his thumb toward the trunk of the vehicle.[break][break]

"Shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes."

Tempest grinned, all teeth, and gave a sharp whistle. The Eevee's small body crackled before it slowly slunk into the ground, melting into the shadows and vanishing from sight. A flick of the wrist and Tempest's Sygna Suit flickered to life, steam rising off his shoulders as the Infinity Energy burned inside of him. It glowed in faint lines from under his normal outfit, stark white.[break][break]

Tempest got close enough to lean heavily on GIDEON GRAVES's car.[break][break]

"I'll buy you a new one."[break][break]

Tempest let's that hang in the air for a moment.[break][break]

"Put your valuables in the car and start walking."

Oh. This was literal highway robbery. Wonderful.[break][break]

I'm glad this is a rental. Gideon thought to himself, though he grimaced at the thought of having to walk to the closest strip of civilization.[break][break]

SLOWKING, meanwhile, watched as the EEVEE melted into the shadows, ready to PROTECT his master if or when it sprung to attack. [break][break]

Tempest Quinn's SYGNA SUIT also posed just as much of a threat. It was pretty obvious how outmatched GIDEON GRAVES was in comparison.[break][break]

A vehicle was not worth his or Proteus' lives. [break][break]

"Alright, alright. I get it. I'm not looking for trouble." The professor raised both hands up in surrender, though slowly brought one down to pat at his pocket. [break][break]

"I've got some cash in my wallet. I'll throw that in the car and be on my way."

Due to extenuating circumstances Tempest Quinn's writer, Yams, may not be able to complete this thread. Depending on the situation, either writer may be able to pick up another Skirmish in order to complete a Skirmish in time.
