Night shift. With the war going on, this has become almost synomymous with nightmare, as stealth operations have their very own horrors when vision is limited. Today, however, the mission sounds almost like from another timeline. One that Lutgarde is frankly grateful for - a reminder, perhaps, of what they're fighting for.

They arrive first at this area of forest where Ledian and Ledyba would gather. It's a chilly autumn night, but not too cold yet - still, they made sure to bring their warm cloak and some warm drinks in an insulated bottle so they could keep warm while keeping watch. The sky is a bit cloudy - perhaps it would clear up to let the stars shine through?

But it also wouldn't be needed at all. Upon arriving, they already see the beginnings of the lightshow of the night, excited and joyous bug pokémon that glow like stars on earth. They smile as get settled at the edge of the area with most activity, with their black-red-dyed Sylveon settling and loafing next to them. "It's strange and nice to see something so peaceful again, hm?"

even in hoenn, pockets of paradise exist beyond the war-torn frontier. the moonlight pales against the sight of the stardust showers — sparkling phosphorescence given off by the ledian and ledyba. it is a beautiful display, filled with joyous cheers and fluttering wings. minjun inhales softly; it doesn't feel real. [break][break]

his murkrow is gently perched on his left shoulder, tiny black feathers ruffling against the crook of his neck. "it is. it's hard to believe it's not like this all the time." but this gentle peace is something worth fighting for — it's something worth protecting. [break][break]

and while it's their job to be vigilant tonight, he can't help but offer some creature comforts to his fellow ranger. he looks at lutgarde and says, "i brought some snacks just in case. feel free to take some whenever." [break][break]

Lutgarde almost jumps as Minjun is actually at the site already, too - they somehow have entirely missed him. However, Sylv helps them keep face by already having figured out his presence, and flooding Lutgarde's mind with calmness. So they laugh in agreement, though it rings a sorrowful note as they think about the ongoing war. "It is. But it's good that such places exist still - it's a good reminder, not?" they remark with a smile that slowly gains more certainty.

In the seemingless endless fight, it's easy to wonder what that's all for if everything comes crumbling down again. Like the tale of the man rolling a boulder up a hill with no hope of ever accomplishing the feat ... but there's a light at the end of it all, and it dances in front of them right now, joyous.

"Oh, perfect- I actually brought some, too," Lutgarde grins at Minjun's snack reveal. "I easily get hungry on patrols like these, so I brought some sandwiches along, too." Though the amount might also look a bit intimidating, they'd definitely be able to finish it all one way or another. "Almost got some slumber party vibes, except we really can not fall asleep," they laugh.
