Summer peered momentarily away from the computer screen, her office dim in the dying sunlight. Only a small lamp at the edge of her desk and the fire in the hearth illuminated the room, casting a warm, yellow glow on the business woman's face.

Rain began to shroud her view outside, droplets tapping against the floor to ceiling windows.

Tap tap tap.

She scowled, trying to regain her focus on the work in front of her. She should've long since retired from the days work of reviewing the revenue and budgets presented to her for that quarter. Yet, she still remained at the large, mahogany desk with paper sprawled on either side of the computer.

Tap tap tap.

"What is with that incessant noise?" Summer snapped into the air. It didn't sound like the pitter-patter of rain against glass.

Rather, it sounded like something - or someone - was creating that noise.

Rising to her feet, Summer exited her office, descending the spiral staircase of her luxurious lilycove home. Yet, the tapping followed her.

Tap tap tap.

Rodents often showed up where they were least wanted. Ian's mischief of black Rattata moreso than most. They drummed a steady rhythm against the dining room window. Who cared if glass was fragile and they were many. To escape the rain they'd chew through iron if needed.

Tap Tap - Crash

Unable to withstand the beat of a dozen tiny paws the glass shattered. In a hurry, the waterlogged rats scampered inside. They dashed along the countertops, slipping behind the fridge and into cupboards. Two made their way out of the kitchen and toward the spiraling staircase.

They froze at the first step. Their beady eyes starring up at the woman descending. She seemed... familiar.

"Cade? Is that you? I don't find this amusing!" Summer called out for her husband. However, Cade Atreides did not answer her. And she hadn't expected him to: as far as she was aware, he had been out on a mission, gone for a week at that moment.

The tapping not being her beloved, however... it was unsettling.

"Surtur."

The emboar appeared as if from thin air, standing at his master's side. Surtur illuminated the walkway with a blue glow, smoke billowing from his pig-like snout.

Tap tap- CRASH.

The window from the kitchen shattered. Summer's heart began to pound faster. Adrenaline threatened to take over, and she wordlessly commanded her Pokemon to step ahead of her and investigate.

Surtur squealed with surprise as the soaking rodents scattered around his feet. He stomped angrily, attempting to smush them into a pulp.

"Hold on!" She held up her hands, looking at the rattata. They seemed all too familiar, and they peered back at her with that same familiarity.

Until it clicked, and her blood ran cold.

"Where is he?" she demanded, a genuine fear crawling over her.

The Rattatas hissed and dashed between the Emboar's legs back onto the countertop. Annoying swine. Death of a thousand bites would be too good for it. Teeth chittering, they glared fiercely at the pig. Too bad they were twelve and not a thousand.

One of the rats pulled it's eyes away from Surtur to look at Summer. Their head tilted at her question. He? Did she mean -

Lightning flashed and again the Rattata scattered. All but one fleed to other rooms of the luxury home. That single rat stood before the shattered window kitchen with a figure looming behind it.

CRACK

Another bolt of light struck illuminating the familiar, haunting form of Killian Decker. When the next strike came he was gone - and so was the Rattata.

[attr="class","summer"]The rattata scurried. They infested every corner of the lower floor, finding some place to hide in.

"You disgusting vermin! I'll send Matagot out to eat you."

And the purple purugly slithered forward as her name was called, unsheathing her claws and growling lowly. She'd dodge beneath the table to attempt to catch one rat, shadow claws emerging from the dark.

They seemed to vanish with the lightning flash. And in that flash, Summer swore she saw him.

"What are you-"

But Killian Decker and the singular rattata disappeared.

With Surtur behind her, she wandered onto the wrapped porch, looking through shearing rain. "Decker! Where are you?"
