A WORMHOLE OPENS above route 121 but none are there to witness the phenomenon. a small, nebulous pokemon escapes the tether's grasp and the dainty little sprite springs to life, smiling, its small antennas wriggling to and fro as it settles into the new environment. the gravity here binds it to the ground and the pokemon only has enough strength to levitate a few feet off the ground, growing accustom to the brighter and more vibrant change in scenery.[break][break]

the sound of an eerie SCREECH erupts from the same wormhole and the cosmog flees in terror. what follows is the same pokemon that had terrorized mossdeep's space center. the nihilego pries itself out of the wormhole and its impressive mass domineers over anything else found in the route. the pokemon's mere head spans three feet in height, the rest of its body, tentacles included, spilling over the floor like an over-sized mop. the sheer length of its appendages measure out to a few meters, giving the tentacruel's that plagued slateport a run for their money.[break][break]

one by one, the missing scientist of mossdeep start to climb out of the wormhole and fall onto the ground with a startling thud. the sound of bone snapping is heard but none of them seem to mind. they all find the strength the stand up, hunched over, using the nihilego's tentacles for support. each one seems to have a tentacle attached to their nape. their eyes are dull and lifeless with their skin tone dotted with a somber purple tint.[break][break]

the pokemon makes no further moves but the scientist start to spread out. they stay within reach of the pokemon but try to grasp their surroundings. they walk through the ankle high grass and trip over obvious rocks, testing the terrain and getting used to what seems to be a new phenomenon of gravity. [break][break]

as always they could rely on marie jules 's intel. cadis made note to reward her for immensely for her hard work. as he and many rockets hid out of plain sight from the open field that was infested from what looked to have been, "the missing scientists..." the lot of them looked...disfigured and yet walking.

he'd analyze from behind an oran tree. a finger pressed against his ear as he peeked, watching the scientists roam about. "i'm sure many of you are seeing what i'm seeing..." he whispered, "...but those are the scientists that have been missing for quite sometime. i remember seeing their faces in the news." they didn't look well, and with further examination one could see that they were no longer alive.

"they're walking corpses." bones broken. they were walking without a single cry or call for help. it didn't take a genius to see that something was out of the ordinary. "the beasts isn't moving, but its tentacles are each time a scientist moves." and from a simple observation, they could tell, "they're being controlled by the creatures tentacles. this is different from a malamar's hypnosis..." cadis stated. turning toward a rocket member from afar, he'd ask, "who's ready to poke the bear?" cadis playfully chuckled.

- an observation was made that the creature is controlling a bunch of walking corpses via its tentacle.
- cadis basically just asked if anyone was ready to test the waters.

Kingsley's tongue runs across his lip as he watches the scene unfold. It is surreal and for a moment, he feels trapped within a movie frame, unable to do anything except look. Cadis' voice breaks the trance. His gaze flickers towards the left, where the earpiece is set.

"I got it."

Unhooking a pokeball from his belt, Kingsley throws out Zephyr, high into the air. He gives an order and the bird pokemon soars in close to the beast's head to circle.

For now, he makes no further observations.

"defs not any kind hypnosis i've seen before." goro said with a bloop of his earpiece and the experience of one who made use of hypnosis often. he fucking hated weird ass pokemon, nearly as much as he hated legendary pokemon. did this one count as legendary? or a god. disgusting. he was riding on the back of his cracked out dodrio who had used agility to catch them up to speed. he unsaddled from the wryly beast as he approached the scene, squinting from his vantage point. lips pursed, he noted, "the... tentacles (?) sort of remind me of like that giant tentacruel that was all over the news a few months ago. it could be poisoning the scientists. or a poison type. iunno."

and that was about all he could say on the matter. his other pokemon were safe in their pokeballs and katya was nervously pecking at his other heads. goro sighed, at least they weren't being too loud.

he keeps his voice low, not like the usual volume he takes. "i can go test if those people are still alive if you want," he asks through the comms. he notices kingsley's pokemon in the air, but aside from that, there's nothing else to take note of.

"try to keep your mons off the ground for now, thanks."

he takes his jumpluff out of its ball. he voices his orders to the jumpluff, which would most likely be aired to the same frequency as every other rocket member present was in. "poison powder, and make sure it stays on the ground."

a mist of poison spreads from priam's direction, which was just beside kingsley. the poison powder is guided with fairy wind in a way that it only stays on the ground, swirling around the scientists and the unknown pokemon from the wormhole.

tl;dr:

tells everyone to stay off the ground for a while
jumpluff uses poison powder and fairy wind at the targets

elijah's frogadier perches on another oran tree. in respect for his new boss, the apothecary keeps his distance. a temporary caution. a wary step into waters too cold or too hot. he can't be sure.

like the nihilego, elijah keeps his distance from cadis through all proxies. his frogadier watches from another oran tree, white bubbled scarf a silent regalia.

elijah squints, allowing the others to take the first risks. "i don't see eyes. is it using the scientists like a white cane?"

tl;dr: elijah stays back. his observation is that he can not see eyes on the nihilego, leading him to believe he's using the connected scientists like feelers/like a cane for the visually-impaired.

“Presuming it is a poison-type by appearance will not suffice,” and Desmond reached into the depths of his coat pocket, feeling for the round shape of a pokeball that he can pinch between his fingers. “Hitting it with a poison move will garner actual results.”[break][break]

Yet, despite this advice, he gave an anxious grin when an actual attack was utilized against the beast—not because it was the wrong course of action, but because these things did not abide by the rules that they were accustomed to. The footage from Mossdeep, even if it had just been bits and pieces, had proven that these beasts would pose a challenge unlike any pokemon they had ever encountered.[break][break]

It was exhilarating.[break][break]

The shambling of the corpse-like scientists was a sight that could not be ignored, and it made the underboss press a hand to his nape to wonder how it would feel to be yanked like a puppet on a string. Not pleasant, he imagined, as his Bisharp was released from his capsule; blades were drawn and angled to the white, elongated appendages.[break][break]

“Let's test and see,” and he would take his stance behind a tree as the Bisharp was deployed as bait—if the bladed pokemon lost his life in the process, then that would be more data gathered. “Try and retrieve one of the scientists, if you're capable of cutting through.”[break][break]

The dark-type would follow those commands, charging down one of the scientists and executing guillotine at the white protrusion, darting out from the cover of grass to try and strike hard and fast.[break][break]

tldr: desmond is testing the observations made by cadis von klaussner and elijah gardner by ordering bisharp to use guillotine on one of the white tentacles.

@kingsley's braviary comes in closer to the beast and it doesn't respond. the bird is allowed the freedom to circle overhead but its presence is noticed, just plainly ignored to the point where it's indistinguishable that the creature is able to detect it. with very few identifiable features, aside from movement, reading the pokemon is neigh impossible. at least so far. [break][break]

kyle lopez's POISON POWDER seeps out until its carried into the pokemon's proximity by the FAIRY WIND. again, the pokemon shows no noticeable signs of being effected but the scientist are different. the poison doesn't impede their movement but the powder starts to dilute their own purple color with a deeper hue, showing that the poison effects their flesh. [break][break]

@desmond takes the initiative and his bisharp follows the command to the tee. an excellent ambush on an otherwise defenseless scientist results in a proper execution. there's no flaw in the pokemon's technique and the GUILLOTINE comes down with the precision to decapitate any beast. unfortunately, their lack of knowledge about the beast proves to be their undoing. the bisharp's razor sharp blade cannot cut through the pokemon's appendage. it feels more like an axe, chipping away at the glossy, glass like surface but unable to sever the tether. [break][break]

and with that, there goes their element of surprise. each of the scientist opens their mouth and turn to face away from the pokemon. they all SCREECH in unison with a booming ECHOED VOICE with the loudest impact radiating from the pokemon itself. the clashing vibrations of the loud crescendo layer on-top of each other and cause the attack to hit with a greater impact. @kingsley's braviary, the closest pokemon, is thrown straight up into the air and immediately rendered unconscious, the rattling vibrations giving the pokemon an extreme concussion. it'll reach a peak before descending, doomed to land with a fatal thud if left without intervention. @desmond's bisharp is thrown backwards and is left FLINCHING and rattled. even with its steel defenses the pokemon cannot stop rattling, vibrating to the same frequency as the sound wave. [break][break]

everyone else is blasted backwards with enough force to knock them flat off their feet to varying degrees depending on their distance from the creature. immediately after the sound dissipates, the scientist start to retreat back towards the mysterious creature. [break][break]

He hit the ground; his ears ringing and head throbbing from the sound blast that continued to reverberate in his skull. Surely, had the underboss clasped a hand to his head, he would have thought it was trembling from the sheer force that had just coursed through his body—and it had smashed into him with this force from such a distance! Such an achievement would have put any Exploud to shame.[break][break]

“It is far more solid than mere observation would have anticipated,” he called into the headset, “if that creature is capable of reflecting a blow from a sharpened blade and able to create that level of sound, then it will most likely be composed of—” and the man scrambled to his feet, wondering if anyone could hear his observations over the verbal bombardment they had just endured. “—A hard, reflective, nonporous substance,” because he was assuming that the sound had to originate from the creature, not from its subjects suspended by the white appendages.[break][break]

“Regardless of the origin of the sound, the state of Bisharp's blade will support that assumption,” and in his scramble to regain his senses, he chucked out a second capsule.[break][break]

Alakazam came to the field.[break][break]

Bisharp would not be left trembling in the field; ally swap would change the positions of the two pokemon. Alakazam would find himself where the Bisharp once was, and vice-versa.[break][break]

His eyes would seek the blades of his trembling Bisharp, noting how they seemed chipped—the sound that had resounded from the pokemon upon the strike of Guillotine had been similar to glass. A steel-type? A rock-type? These conventions could not be easily applied.[break][break]

This was a being from another plane of existence—type conventions could not be a perfect fit. “Presume it is either steel or rock type in nature, until testing proves otherwise. Be aware that this creature will not abide by the rules that we normally apply to these typing—this thing will not function as though it were a normal pokemon—if we could even call it a pokemon.”[break][break]

“It seems to have impeccable defenses... let's see how strong it stands,” and Alakazam would not need an order from his master to execute its next move: Guard Swap.[break][break]

tldr: desmond has observed that the creature must be composed of a hard, reflective, nonporous substance; believes it may be steel or rock on this assumption. he deploys alakazam and has it use ally switch to swap positions with bisharp and guard swap to sap the creature's defenses.

A snarl rips itself free from Kingsley's throat as he's thrown backwards. His head rings, thoughts fractured over and over and over, as he tries to regain himself. He scrubs a hand against his face and down to his jaw, other curling against the ground. The world spins when he looks up.

Kingsley doesn't try to stand but he paws for the pokeball his Braviary had been in. The bird lays in a heap and he withdraws it with an unsteady hand. As the ringing stops and his mind regains focus, he pushes himself up and reaches for another pokeball. This time, an Audino is called forth. It clings to his side. "Misty Terrain," he orders.

A fog spills into the area, emanating from the Audino. In moments, the scene is covered in a blush pink haze.

"It looks like it resists physical attacks - or at least normal type," he says, eyes focused on the creature. He calls out a secondary Pokemon - Espeon - to his side. "They're not facing where your Pokemon was, Kelley. Doesn't look like poison did much either. Someone blast it with a fire type move. See if that does shit."

• MISTY TERRAIN IS IN EFFECT FOR FIVE TURNS
• BRAVIARY WAS RECALLED. AUDINO AND ESPEON WERE CALLED OUT.

• noted that the scientists have actively turned away from where desmond's pokemon was

he recalls the jumpluff to its ball before the force gets it thrown much further away thanks to its light weight. it leaves his ears ringing, with no hands capable of blocking them. at the very least, being deafened wasn't a new experience.

as if he wasn't hurt, he walks back to his previous position. "let me do the testing!" he enthusiastically calls in the comms.

two pokemon replace the jumpluff on the field: his arcanine and his skarmory. only one of them were for the real testing while the other was for safety purposes to contain the creature in its space. it may be durable, but he knows the bodies of the scientists it employs aren't.

"arcanine, flame burst! skarmory, set up spikes!"

both of his pokemon stood beside him. his arcanine fires off a blast of fire that would explode on contact, spreading its embers easily should it hit. the skarmory flies in the air and then scatters spikes around the scientists while they're bunched around the nihilego as the flying-type goes overhead it.

ringing in the ears. cadis remained slouched upon the oran tree. using it to lift himself up as he peeked.

"well, everyone, this should go without saying..." and this was an observation, "but considering what just happened. we'll need to dispose of those scientists if we want to get anywhere. that combined screech proved dangerous, imagine what else their capable of..." either way, he'd state, "whether they're alive or dead, we need to decapitate and rid that squid of its 'nuisances'." a.k.a. the corpses need to go.

luckily priam conrad was on the case. calling out decidueye, cadis would order for decidueye to utilize SPIRIT SHACKLE to keep the corpses from moving anywhere by piercing their shadows with an arrow. for now, he awaited to see if the groups theory proved right.

notes:

- wants to get rid of these corpses.
- no real important observation was made atm.
- called out decidueye, decidueye used spirit shackle to keep the scientists at bay.
- is waiting to see if priam's flame burst does anything.

katya acted first, and fast. the three headed bird scrambled to its feet, and with its boosted speed, zipped behind goro to catch him as he was blasted back on his ass. "fuck." he grumbled, massaging his temples and once again dismounting from his stupid dodrio. his bird had been lucky compared to the others, and as a fairy fog spilled around their feet, an idea began to form. he unbuckled a pokeball and released ricky, his swoobat, in a flash of light. goro gave a nod to the bird and simply said, "dance." the three heads of the dodrio each wobbled off beat before getting in rhythm with one another and the swords dance began. "look out." goro called to the swoobat, and its eyes glittered with psychic energy as it used future sight to glimpse into the endless possibilities of fate.

with that done, goro took a couple of tentative steps away from the freakish beast, circling around through the grove of oran trees that occupied the route. both of his pokemon followed, staying within the security of the shadows the canopy provided. goro buzzed in via his earpiece with a frank tone, "prepare y'all. attacks are incoming and who knows what this thing will throw at us next."

the horrid orchestrations of screams tosses elijah back. skidding back, he stumbles clumsily before scrambling back to his feet while his frogadier clings to a branch. its lithe form is easy to blow back; however, it grasps onto the branch it was perched on, bubble scarf flying back like a flag.

"these poor fucks."

elijah directs his frogadier to cycle around the perimeter with a DOUBLE TEAM, its sneaky acrobatics creating the illusion of a frog constantly leaping from tree to tree. like a rotating lampshade. his frogadier maintains this until elijah decides it must spring into action.

for now, he summons his breloom, psellia, from its ball a small distance away from him. he ensures she is not near anyone else.

as her mushroom cap head bobs in between the brush, elijah throws a daggered finger toward the steely appendages of their target.

"if it is even a pokemon..." elijah echoes desmond's earlier sentiments. "psellia, seed bomb the tentacles."

the breloom complies. she fires hard-shelled seeds like artillery.

@desmond 's alakazam swaps places with the bisharp and its close enough to perform a GUARD SWAP. it establishes a link between the two pokemon and the results showcases what would've happened to Lucas Lane 's beeheeyem had it been able to successfully perform POWER SPLIT on guzzlord. the ultra beast's power proves too powerful for the alakazam and its body is unable to maintain the sudden surge of power. the pokemon's body becomes resilient externally but the shift in the pokemon's make up starts to show as its skin boils, rupturing as the flesh ruptures in several small bursts along its forearms and torso. the pokemon's heightened intelligence is able to infer that something is wrong and it cuts the connection immediately, barely saving it from exploding outright. [break][break]

@kingsley 's braviary lands with a solid thud and remains motionless. kingsley recalls it but the pokemon has already expired. landing from such a height while unconscious prevents the pokemon from even adjusting its positioning in the slightest. its intense injures combined with the height of its fall proves fatal. kingsley won't realize it until the next time he calls upon his pokemon that its no longer alive. at least it wont decompose while its tucked inside his pokeball. [break][break]

the MISTY TERRAIN seeps onto the battlefield and comes to a crawl as its effect starts to take effect. none of the pokemon on the MISTY TERRAIN will be effected by status moves. [break][break]

priam conrad 's arcanine launches a FLAME BURST and the attack hits the nihilego straight at its center of mass. the flames are harmless and they bounce off its glassy exterior. it spreads on contact and several of the scientist get caught up in the crossfire, actively burning and lit on fire but unresponsive to their burning flesh. [break][break]

cadis von klaussner ' decidueye lands several pin point SPIRIT SHACKLES to the scientist but they resist. their shadows bind them in place and the scientist continues to move against them to the point that their torso tears away from their cemented legs, separating at the shins as their feet remain in place. the gruesome sight reveals that they no longer bleed red but purple, the sight of gelatinous flesh visible from the torn stumps of their tethered legs. [break][break]

the skarmory's SPIKES do not impede their movement. the gravity of their crawling causes to caltrops to pierce flesh and catch onto them but the scientist show no visible pain. they continue to gather until they surround the nihilego. they open their mouths and an eerie SCREECH comes out. it's unworldly, high pitch and piercing. [break][break]

Goro Shimizu's swoobat peers into future with FUTURE SIGHT and the results are frightening — carnage everywhere, its companions melting, pokemon beaten into a literal pulp, and the world goes blank. it foresees its own death and FLINCHES as a result. there's a narrow path in the future that allows the FUTURE SIGHT to prepare an attack but the shock delays the swoobat. it'll need more time to channel FUTURE SIGHT successfully. [break][break]

elijah gardner 's breloom lands several SEED BOMBS on the nihilego's length tentacles. they also bounce off the glass but some of them explode on impact, rattling them to the point that one of them unhinges from a scientist. the shockwave of the seed's explosion jerks the scientist away, ripping the tentacle from its neck and causing them to fall, a vile purple liquid spilling from its neck. the moment the liquid touches something other than the scientist, it fizzles, melting through the ground until its so far down its out of sight. [break][break]
