goro watched the scene unfold as if it were in a movie: the climax of an action movie, where the fight happened in slow motion and dark tidings followed. he saw that tentacle whip back like a palm tree in the wind, he saw it enwrap itself around his swoobat, he saw the poison leak out and engulf the bat creature. he barely even noticed his flygon absolutely destroy the other tentacle. goro knew what was coming and his neutral expression deepened into a grimace. there was little he could, even now the acidic venom had began to melt the swoobat's wings, and so he gave a final command. "endeavor." he barked, his voice raw with emotion.

ricky had foreseen his own death whilst peering into the future. it had been a possibility, a very likely one from the way the future sight recoiled, but he had come to terms with it. his master knew best, it was that faith and love that allowed the swoobat to ENDEAVOR - a white light surrounded the pokemon as it wriggled within the grasp of the monster.

eyes downcast, goro called out to freddie who had been darting through the trees and avoiding attacks. his voice was thin and carried by the wind as he uttered, "fire hydrant." from the cover of a tree a tremendous HYDRO PUMP blasted the stump his flygon had just wrecked. the dragon type had retreated from the danger zone and was now flying just out of reach of the tentacles resting after its powerful attack.

"ah shit!" elijah immediately draws upon his florges' powers as she is summoned on to the field.

in steady motions, yet frantic speeds, elijah calls to reverse the corrosion of his breloom's body. his florges concentrates a limited GRASSY TERRAIN around his space, careful not to intercept anya fowl's PSYCHIC TERRAIN.

immediately, the breloom should receive healing. the grasses grow thicker around elijah and his pokemon; however, he does not dally. the battle is fierce. with one eye on the nihilego, he witnesses the overextended tentacles being crushed.

having witnessed Goro Shimizu's swoobat fall, he orders his florges to cast WISH on his breloom as well. he hopes the healing takes place in time.

within his healing sanctuary, the herbalist raises a fiery voice toward the frogadier beside him. "hydro pump while it's wide open!" he presses his ear piece, muttering as he tends to his breloom. "goro's flygon smashed the tentacles further out. they're weaker when they extend too far- like a stick of spaghetti!"

"fuck!" he exclaims, watching his skarmory dissolve before his eyes. "its poison goes through the steel-typing? that's bullshit!"

he scratches his head with both hands furiously in a tantrum. they settle eventually, though priam still has them atop his head. "i liked that skarmory..." he comforts himself with a sigh.

"let me try this."

his hands reach for a pokeball, releasing his dragonite. it goes out with an aggressive cry, ready to fight the ultra beast head on. priam, however, has other plans for it.

"dragonite, thunder wave!" he glances at his espeon, taking note of the psychic terrain. "espy, psychic."

electricity is shot from the dragonite straight to the ultra beast in an attempt to paralyze it. it doesn't move as often already, but limiting their prey's movements were still appreciated. his espeon takes the opportunity with the psychic terrain to fire a blast of energy at what seems to be a poison-type.

the battle was fierce. so far nothing was confirmed. theory continued to pile on top of theory. with anya fowl 's psychic terrain on the battlefield, cadis would look to call out natu and returned dragalge.

natu, landing atop of starmie, would stand before cadis. with psychic terrain active, he'd order the duo, "together, use psychic!" orders given, the duo would release a wave of telekinetic energy toward the nihelego once more. "you suggested we stretch the nihelego's tentacles out correct, elijah gardner ?"

upon taking gardner's suggestion into thought, cadis would say, "should the psychic connect. the both of you tug on a tentacle and stretch it out as far as you can!"

- returned dragalge, brought out natu.
- ordered natu and starmie to use psychic, currently boosted by psychic terrain thanks to anya fowl .
- took elijah gardner 's suggestion to heart and, should psychic connect, cadis would order natu and starmie to individually tug on a tentacle as far as they can in an attempt to tear it off.

The field becomes weird as the PSYCHIC TERRAIN layers over the existing MISTY TERRAIN. The meld of both fields mean nothing to the Pokemon and Goro Shimizu's Swoobat turns into liquid ooze as it tries to struggle for the last time. The melted Pokemon drips onto the floor and the Nihilego radiates a bright red aura that's overshadowed by the glowing blue light radiating from it's core. [break][break]

elijah gardner's GRASSY TERRAIN surrounds his Breloom and even with the WISH it looks like he fighting an uphill battle. Unlike the rest of the Pokemon, the Breloom is able to sustain itself but its conditions worsens with time. Any poison that dribbles off its body splashes onto the GRASSY TERRAIN and eats into it, killing vegetation with a plague like touch. Without immediate first aid, the only solution is to return the Pokemon to slow the injuries for as long as possible. [break][break]

Goro Shimizu, elijah gardner soak the immobile target with their respective HYDRO PUMP, sending the outstretched tentacles reeling back like limp noodles. priam conrad's follow up with THUNDER WAVE crackles as the Nihilego consistently tingles with an electrical discharge. It looks like its PARALYZED but that's hard to tell with little it moves. [break][break]

The multiple PSYCHIC blasts from priam conrad and cadis von klaussner start to leave their mark. A wide array of bright, warm colors stain the Pokemon's glass surface and it takes the blows with little reaction until it turns blue altogether. cadis von klaussner' Starmie and Natu come in close and are the first subjected to the powerful discharge of psychic energy. The duo are immediately launched back and take full damage from the attack. [break][break]

A wild, concentrated burst of pressure breaks the Nihilego free from Desmond Kelley's TELEKINESIS. The PSYWAVE shatters any hold or control the others have on it, overbearing with a pressure that threatens to crumple them into nothingness. Wave after wave of hot, searing air streaks out in every direction with the Nihilego as the epicenter. The world becomes white in a cascade of ethereal lights until everyone is blinded. Thankfully, unlike the other attacks, this one does ever come close to lethal damage, however defending against it will be neigh impossible without prior notice and a bulwark of PSYCHIC defenses. The force of the blast pushes everyone away and those still standing will feel the mental heat of such transcendental energy. [break][break]

Once their vision returns, the privy will notice that Desmond Kelley's Alakazam looks different. priam conrad will recognize the look, having somehow weaseled arian coin into trading away his damaged Alakazam. This time, the Pokemon is covered in purple markings, snarling as it lashes out with several energy blades. An empowered PSYCHO CUT is aimed at the nearest combatants, including Desmond Kelley. priam conrad, and priam conrad's Dragonite / Espeon. [break][break]

the blast pushes them away. priam finds himself with a shaken head and beside him were two of his pokemon. his eyes, however, quickly home in to a pokemon whose characteristics were similar to one of his. he feels a chill in his spine, instincts urging him to play defensive right away.

"protect!"

with dragonite's pokeball still on his hand, he recalls it. the espeon jumps in front of his trainer, as if he is completely in sync with what the boy was planning, and puts up a barrier against the attack.

"keep your alakazam in its ball, sir!" he calls for Desmond Kelley once he sees his pokemon change. the one he currently has was hard to control, as if it wasn't the same level as others. "Eva Dumont can explain later!"

he takes out his arcanine's pokeball, releasing it with a quick command. "roar!" his finger pointed to the infected psychic-type, mimicking a pose of a famous ace attorney.

the canine comes out of its ball, releasing a frightening noise to force the alakazam out of the fight.

it's futile. and although seeds of worry embed themselves in the lining of his stomach, elijah anchors himself in the fierce motion of retreat. thrusting his pokeball toward his breloom, the red light calls his injured pokemon back.

his molars clench tight. the withering plants within his verdant sanctuary melt into pitiful grave markers. elijah casts poison of his own, his gorgon gaze spitting at the recoiling creature.

then he's blinded. a heat roars across the crest of his brain, and for a moment, the apothecary believes he's been killed. but it's the remaining mental cinders that alert him to his consciousness. his florges comes to his side, resting a leafy limb on his shoulder.

he sees that priam conrad has protected himself- and he hopes it's enough. someone as young as him shouldn't even be affiliated with such a crew. to see that he remains even after rocket's supposed dissolution means that he's ingrained into the seedy underside of this organization.

elijah coughs groggily. "SMACK DOWN, bogart." he instructs his frogadier to summon a stoning. borrowed boulders plummet onto the alakazam, hoping to mar its assault's advance.

at the same time, his florges raises her arms. a lustrous sphere of pink light, mirroring the previous explosion's expansion, builds and grows before being launched as a MOONBLAST toward their tentacled attacker.

goro fell silent as his poor kissy bat was dissolved before his eyes. his expression went blank, a thousand mile stare coming to his eyes. it was freddie, the blue stoic greninja, who took up the mantle as the icy fire of revenge filled his eyes.

he leaped forward as a spinning orb of water formed in his webbed hands. simultaneously, the greninja began to blur as copies surrounded the monsterous beast; then, in a blink of an eye, they all released water shurkiens at the nearby tentacles. which was the real one, however, was difficult to tell. only the razor sharp blade of the water shuriken would reveal that.

He had ordered the Alakazam to continue using Telekinesis—he never double-checked to see if his command was followed.[break][break]

Desmond would curse that oversight. When he turned to his psychic pokemon, he was only able to stumble back and throw out the first pokeball his hand could grasp—unlike the others, he was too close to perform any evasive maneuvers to avoid the oncoming Psycho Cut.[break][break]

So his Bisharp would take the blow for him—psychic energy harmlessly colliding against its steel exterior. It was a shield that seemed effective, until Desmond remembered that the incoming attack was larger than the dark-type. Residual energy cascaded over its form, and the man would flinch as he felt the spill of the attack slice clean through his shoulder.[break][break]

Blood, blackish red from where it was cut, oozed to a degree that he registered to be dangerous; an artery.[break][break]

It had cut clean through the collarbone. Had it been an inch lower, it could have render his arm from his torso.[break][break]

There was no break to be felt. As his hand sought the wound, screwing pressure with his coat wrapped around his fist, there was a moment where his finger graced against the clean ridge of bone that had been perfectly split. Shock made the invasiveness of his fingers feel like ice to the body—cold and burning, but unable to register how much pain that had been wrought.[break][break]

He tried to find where the blood oozed, and tried to pinch it.[break][break]

As this unfolded, he had to divide his attention away from his berserked pokemon, hoping that the ROAR would have its intended effect as he tried to maneuver his injured side—his hand weakly plucking off another pokeball, dropping it, and watching it roll before its contents spilled out.[break][break]

Hydreigon. “Caligula,” the neurotic pokemon would gnash all three jaws, “Tri Attack.”[break][break]

The tri-color beam would slice through the undergrowth, aimed for the translucent jellyfish.[break][break]

The PSYWAVE settles and as the combatants regain their bearings the landscape has changed for the worse. Behind the fading light is a new one, sourced from the ULTRA WORMHOLE that has erupted from behind the Nihilego. It squirms again, lashing out its tentacles in a protective wall to protect its body as the phenomenon manifests behind it. [break][break]

priam conrad's quick thinking along with elijah gardner's assistance in pinning down the rogue Alakazam has forced it back into its Pokeball. Desmond Kelley will feel the Pokeball wriggle in resistance as his wound pools against the vice grip of his makeshift tourniquet. [break][break]

The attacks seem to taper off but the MOONBLAST, WATER SHURIKEN, and TRI-ATTACK hit their mark. It's almost impossible on such a huge target but whittling it down proves impossible to the naked eye. Only the most attentive can discern the glossy surface of the Pokemon starting to scratch and tarnish. [break][break]

With a heaving sway, the Nihilego swings back before thrusting its bottom centered orifice forward, exposing itself temporarily to expel a sizable SLUDGE WAVE that threatens to swallow everyone on ground level in a tidal wave of its bodily fluids. Once the wave crashes and dies down, coating the field in a highly corrosive poison, the Nihilego will appear shrunken, shriveled up from emptying out its insides. [break][break]

when the gelatinous pendulum swings, elijah's stoic construction breaks. fear makes malleable what was stubborn, and the man recalls his florges with a wail.

with a sharp whistle, he instructs his frogadier upward as he scours the easiest tree to climb. the amphibian darts north likeas the earth rumbles with the promise of poison, elijah shouts:

"mr. kelley!" the alakazam's retreat reveals the alarming absence of telekinesis. in his older age, would he be able to secure safety?

secretly, elijah desires him dead to take his seat.

he leaps on to a tree, gritting his teeth as he hoists himself from branch to branch. the sludge surges below and thins.

"drown it!" elijah orders his frogadier from the leafy crowns of his tree.

as the frog leaps above the whittling jellyfish, the terrible weight of a HYDRO PUMP plunges toward its fallen form.

[attr="class","anyapost"]in circumstances like this is where type advantages would offer her an advantage. but she is a woman of observation; she is not a soldier, not a warrior. she is cold calculation and her prowess relies on her ability to command those strong enough to work under her command.

it's with a fluid motion that she returns the fennekin and brings back katya. the ultra beast is still ballooning at this; its body language is blatant, is obvious. it mimics many poison-types as though it's preparing a spit-up move.

shiva and kain's lithe forms disappear up a nearby tree. they crouch in the branches as anya is lifted off the ground by katya. the bird banks around the treeline and anya watches from above.

a neat tailwind kicks up behind them, providing a light speed boost to the surrounding ally pokemon.

anya escapes the toxin on katya's back.
shiva and kain climb to safety.
katya uses tailwind and provides a speed boost to allies!

there is not time to mourn, no time grieve; he must act. "solange, to me!" he called, the flagon circling over head she dove down with incredible speed (due to the anya fowl's tailwind) to grab goro by the shoulders while his greninja took the opportunity to hop onto the flygon's back. flying over head as he toxic sludge blanketed the field, goro gave a dangerous order: "sink it." the mystical dragon of earth and sand flapped its mighty wings, her eyes glowing with draconic energy, before the entire ground began to shake. no, not shake, but quake.

the toxic terrain was began to quiver as the powerful earthquake from the she dragon took affect. the ground splintered, the toxic sludge slipping through the cracks and massive slabs of earth callousing upon the creature. that wasn't enough, not enough to quell goro's rage. "drown that fucker." he muttered, and the greninja at his side atop the flying, released a torrential hydropump point blank at that core of the jellyfish beast's being.

goro didn't even bat an eye as to whether his allies had gotten to safety as she completely and utterly destroyed the field, jagged earth, toxic sludge, and now flooding waters all that remained of the once lush landscape. he climbed to the top of the flygon's back and watched with cool cold demeanor as the chaos unfolded.

"get me out!" priam hops onto his arcanine's back before pointing towards a tree. "there! there!"

the arcanine outruns the wave of poison with extreme speed and gives him enough momentum to give his following leap the height to reach one of the thickest tree's branches. the canine's claws dig into the trunk, rattled and aiming for safety.

his espeon, who had climbed up his trainer's shoulders beforehand, fired off his own psychic towards the ultra beast in retaliation. everyone else was doing it, so priam figured he didn't have to stop his pokemon being defensive towards him.

tl;dr:

Maybe that was how Desmond was able to muster the energy to seek the nearest tree, sending out one of his pokemon to assist him in the process of climbing—a feat that would not have have been possible in his current state. Blood still oozed out from the split, even with the pressure that he tried to apply with his pinched fingers.[break][break]

Up atop a tree branch, he lazily withdrew the pokemon that had assisted him... and figured that Caligulla, his Hydregion, could be able to handle itself when it came to flying out of range of attacks—a process that would be assisted by the use of tailwind.[break][break]

If not, then Desmond would have to train another Hydregion to take its place.[break][break]
