The boy visibly cringes and shakes his head, disgust quirking an eyebrow as he clears that new knowledge from his brain.[break][break]

To be fair, he didn't not like his name, it was just very.. hippie. Like his parents might have smoked too much weed or made love by a river and couldn't remember the name of it so they just went 'River is dope.'[break][break]

And then, suddenly, Adrian seems to be mellowing out and becoming more friendly. There's a moment of silence between them and, in the meantime, a couple more Pokemon waltz past. It seems a couple of edgy, tattooed young men don't intimidate them in the slightest.[break][break]

River's attention is refocused abruptly when Adrian shoves a phone in his face and announces that his last name means he's bald.[break][break]

"Well, you're half-way there."[break][break]

The boy smiles a bit, then.[break][break]

River gazes at the boy quizzically, unsure if he's being serious about his hair being 'all the rage'. It had certainly become a popular hairstyle, but River couldn't see himself sharing the same punk-rock style.[break][break]

The pair continue on their way, leaving only a dewy treaded path behind them. It's quite calming, actually.[break][break]

Of course, that calmness ends, but only partially, as a very cute and very pink teddy-bear pass in front of them. It seems to stop for a moment, shaking out its

fluffy

fur before continuing.[break][break]

But River has already decided something, and he whistles for Shinx to attack.[break][break]

His own little lion skids between the legs of a much larger one, who seemingly passes them all without a hitch. Shinx barrels straight into the side of the Stufful, but bounces back at how ridiculously well-built the teddy is. [break][break]

Instead of the direct approach, she opts to

swagger

him into a confused state. The Stufful lumbers after her angrily, swinging it's arms wildly before eventually smacking itself. Shinx manages to stay a couple feet away, bouncing and occasionally zapping it with a

discharge

.[break][break]

When it eventually flops to its side in defeat, River goes to scoop up the pink teddy and capture it.[break][break]

"Yeah, basically. And I definitely just found it. Never knew a teddy bear to pack such a punch."[break][break]

His thoughts drift elsewhere as he considers the gift he's just found. But Adrian has probably rejoined him and the boy smirks again.[break][break]

"Why? Is that what you're up to?"[break][break]

River glances at him as the Stufful he's wrestled disappears into the pokeball. The boys answer bores him - he had been hoping for something a little more spicy, like a rendevous with a girl he wasn't supposed to be seeing.[break][break]

Literally anything but 'same as you, bro,' which was the vibe he got.[break][break]

At the mention of his Shinx, the small lion Pokemon looks up at the unfamiliar human. While she poses no threat and doesn't seem interested, River looks from her to his companion, mildly amused.[break][break]

"I've seen cuter."[break][break]

The way he forms his words, and the raise of an eyebrow when he glances over Adrian is curious, but he makes no other not-so-subtle flirtation. Instead, he moves on without much other thought, other than a tossed-over-the-shoulder comment about their earlier topic.[break][break]

"Are you suggesting I'm not interesting enough for you?"[break][break]

In response to Adrian's oddly flirtatious rebuke, River smirks and shrugs.[break][break]

"Perhaps. I don't kiss and tell."[break][break]

Just as he says this, however, he steps on a branch. It crunches loudly underfoot and disturbs two Pokemon nearby. The Purugly that had so diligently been stalking her prey: a young Swablu, is left irritated and frustrated as the cotton Pokemon flees from it's perch.[break][break]

Claws reach into the air and find nothing, and River blinks in surprise as he glances back at Adrian.[break][break]

River raises an eyebrow curiously, perhaps even suggestively, at the man's attempt at a joke. [break][break]

"And what, pray tell, kind of balls did you bring?"[break][break]

River's eyebrows raise nearly to the tips of his bangs as he watches Adrian take off after the Swablu. He hesitates for a moment, unsure if he's willing to pursue such a strange individual. But curiosity gets the better of him as he picks his way through the clearing and after the damp and dewy footprints of Adrian Malcolm. [break][break]

When he does finally catch up, the boy has already successfully caught the cotton bird. He turns to face River with a look of pride. Or maybe mischief.[break][break]

But it is, ultimately, the boys accusatory tone that encourages River to break away. Giving chase has never been his cup of tea, so to speak. It was much more fun to be the chased, and River intended to be just that.[break][break]

"I was just curious."[break][break]

He offers a smile, but ultimately scratches his head and makes no effort to further the conversation.[break][break]

"Well - I got what I came for, so I'm gonna get outta here. I'll see you around."[break][break]

With a dip of his head, his attention snaps to a Fearow as the massive bird passes overhead. By the time it passes, River is gone.[break][break]
