The rocks that had bombarded Inferno would surely hurt him, however his young trainer didn't seem phased by it all. In fact, he was still grinning from ear to ear. That was when Inferno broke out of the rocks that had fell over top of him while letting out a powerful roar. "Well, it looks like Inferno is still in this thing! Right Inferno!?" Alec said to his Charizard.

The tall winged lizard had smirked at his young trainer, then quickly looked back at the Tyranitar, regaining his focus quickly. Without Alec telling him to, the Charizard rushed at Tyranitar using Dragon Dance, his speed increasing. Once he had gotten closer, his claws had flashed a greenish color, attempting to swipe at the Tyranitar.

The force from his swipe was strong and it had met it's mark, which made Alec jump with excitement and glee. "Alright, Inferno! That's the way! Show em what you're made of!" Alec had said, his grin being more wider than what it was.

"Icon!" Charizard had managed to get in close, striking Tyranitar with an uppercut that had left Icon reeling from the attack. And although he remained standing, there was a scar left where the claws had raked against its chest along its neck and jaw. Icon didn't withstand it so well, reeling from the attack's effects. Hold it together!

Tyranitar's body became a rugged and chiseled terrain, hardening such that its very surface seemed to display a jagged growth pattern. The edges of its scar began to fill in, mending its sundered armor. But would it be enough...?

They were losing this fight, but Adrian wasn't going to resign to defeat. Not after coming so far and besting the first two opponents, even if it was only by a hair. Marginally better was still better, and he would not be denied. Not now...!

" P A Y B A C K ! "

By merit of Charizard's proximity after dealing such a fell blow upon Tyranitar, it was able to offer an immediate reprisal of Charizard's Dragon Claw, which in turn had raised Iconoclast to new heights.

Aggrieved and with a target to fixate its frustrations upon, Tyranitar began to rage around the battlefield, the ground a tumultuous wreck as its power began mounting, a powerful counter swipe of its claws raking against Charizard in an act of retribution carrying out its vengeance.

But even still, neither titan wavered...

Alec had smirked, however when he had heard Addrian tell his Tyranitar to attack with Payback, Alec was slightly worried. Charizard had took the brunt of the attack, sending him flying into the water. "Inferno!" Alec shouted, rushing towards the water, worried that the water would put out his tail. He was on the ground now, looking at the water, however that was when he had seen his mega glove sticking out from his coat and he began to relax again. With a small smirk, the boy had faced Adrian and said, "This battle ... Isn't over!" Alec said.

It was then that the young boy quickly ripped his coat off him, striking pose, revealing his mega glove to his opponent. "Rage out and burn! Mega Evolution!" Alec said, releasing the small lynch pin that was held in the metal wrist band; activating his Key Stone. It was then that the water from behind Alec had quickly began to bubble and then an explosion of water shot from it. When the water had finished to fall, what had come out of the water was Alec's Inferno, it's appearance having changed completely due to it's own mega evolution.

A roar had escaped from it's jaws, which had even pushed some of the water back, making it form small yet noticeable waves. "You're not the only one who has Mega Evolution in their corner!" Alec grinned with confidence as now black Mega Charizard quickly flew to Alec's side, landing in front of him.

"To be fairly honest, this is Inferno's first time Mega Evolving, so ... lets how powerful Mega Evolution really is! Now, Inferno! Charge!" Alec said, and with that, Inferno had once again performed Dragon Dance, rushing towards the Tyranitar. "Keep going with Dragon Rush!" Alec had shouted, not wanting his Inferno to stop.

The tremendous force that Inferno had gained from evolving had clearly shown, colliding with the Tyranitar head on. Alec stood there in amazement, also witnessing the power of Mega Evolution for the first time.

-tl;dr: Inferno is struck by Payback!

He wore a satisfied grin watching Charizard take a tumble into the canal, deriving a twisted satisfaction from Alec running over to its side. Might've believed it was over had the dust settled; but Alec was quick to reprimand him for his false assessment. They invoked their own mega evolution, a glow emanating from the waters pooling around Charizard. Rage out and burn, huh?

Alec's little display made an impression on him.

That's so @#$&in' gay. But the power was irrefutable as it surged back onto the battlefield.

But is it enough, I wonder? Anything to play on Alec's doubts, although Adrian himself couldn't be too sure of his success... The lustrous black-and-blue dragon before him boasted renewed strength and mitigated disadvantages. Even so...

"You shouldn't have held out for so long," Adrian began with a snide quip, watching as Inferno began to blitz Tyranitar in earnest. There were many options, but Adrian elected to use Charizard's own momentum against it, if he could.

All Inferno would see through the sandstorm was the spiky green silhouette of Iconoclast is it blazed its path through the dust bowl, unawares to which end of Tyranitar it would be colliding with.

"Icon, rush it and go prone! Rock Slide!"

Challenging Charizard's offense in a headlong rush, both monolithic entities would bear down on one another, with Tyranitar's figure hunching over as they began to close in, raising the spikes along its back to buffer and punish Inferno's Dragon Rush.

Adrian watched the fleeting moments as the two pokemon crashed into one another, satisfied in this improvised move as the spires along Iconoclast's back were directed into its enemy. Was it enough?

Neither could see through the sandstorm, nor could the deafened cries of their pokemon give any definitive indication on their condition.

Alec smirked at Adrian's choice of words, knowing that wouldn't know about Inferno all that much. "Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but Inferno can be quite stubborn, just like me, so him going down easily is out of the question!" Alec grinned. "Alright, Inferno! Let's End this with your strongest attack! Now! Blast Burn!" Alec called out to his mega evolved Charizard. Inferno let out a powerful roar, and had lunged at Tyranitar, it's body producing blue flames around it's body.

Once the Charizard had reached Adrian's Pokemon, instead, hitting it with it's fist, it quickly, slammed it's fist towards the ground, which had caused a huge eruptions of flames to explode out of the ground. The exploding flames had immediately engulfed the Tyranitar in them, and hopefully with that, the battle was over. however, the smoke needed to be cleared first before anything could be confirmed.

-tl;dr: Charizard Dodges Rock Slide!

"Two can play at that game," he rebuked, Adrian seemingly convinced that Tyranitar was hale and whole within the smoke cloud. The sandstorm began to grow increasingly violent, and the ground was beginning to tremble; these were the cues he'd taken into accounts. Had Alec paid attention?

"Icon, use Earthquake!" Adrian braced himself, knowing full well in advance the consequences...

There is an earth-shattering lurch, and the sound of granite crunching beneath the weight of Tyranitar's oppressive might, bending the earth to its design. Fragmenting from the impact tremor, the ground becomes a violent and tumultuous playground, foiling the efficacy of Inferno's Blast Burn as the ground is splintered beneath them.

Sundering the earth in a path leading to Charizard, Tyranitar carves a fissure in the ground, leaving Inferno to collapse in the onslaught. But all of this is at a cost to the immediate locale. Destruction reigned supreme, devastating the land on which they stood. Water began to pool in these pits.

Alec had hoped that Inferno's attack would put down Adrian's Pokemon down for good, however, when the smoke had cleared, Adrian's Tyranitar was barely still standing. Alec was kinda of surprised that the Tyranitar was still able to battle after taking a hit like that. Just one more hit, and we'll win! Alec had thought, however he was caught off guard by Tyranitar using Earthquake. Due to Inferno's Mega Evolved form, Alec had realized that the attack was effecting Inferno too. Alec fell to the ground, on his butt, not having anything to support himself from the rumbling of the ground. When Alec winced from the pain from falling, he had also seen Inferno fall to the ground, changing back into his regular fully evolved form. The water was about to reach Inferno, however Alec quickly grabbed the Charizard's Poke Ball, returning him so that the water would not put out his tail.[break][break]

Alec fell to the ground, in a slight sulking mood. "Maaaaan, I lost!" It was more comical than anything, or at least to those who were witnessing it. However, Alec was slightly disappointed. However, he couldn't deny though that he and his Pokemon had a lot of fun battling Adrian and his Pokemon. Alec continued to lie there on the ground, looking up at the sky. He hadn't paid much attention to how much damage the Tyranitar's Earthquake had caused, but hopefully it wasn't all too bad ...[break][break]

...Phew. His jaw had finally gone lax, lightening how clenched it'd been. Every muscle in his body seemed put at ease with a single breath, as it became evident Alec and his Charizard had been bested... if only marginally. I hate close matches.

"At least it wasn't a landslide," he tried to offer the other trainer assuringly. "I... I was really worried we were gonna lose." Although the battle had began in his favor, it'd quickly escaped him, almost getting out of hand at the end there.

"It was a good ma—uwah!" The ground lurched.

In the crater of its tumultuous ruin Iconoclast still raged, causing an upheaval of earth, displacing the terrain. Water began crashing into the trench, threatening to drown Tyranitar. "RUUUAAAAGH!"

Even Adrian became unsteady on his feet, plucking Reign's pokeball from his belt before unleashing him, straddling him before taking off. Replacing its pokeball with Iconoclast's, he did a fly-by exfil for Icon. Ah shit, what'd I do...!? "Alec! Can you—"

His stomach flipped as the entire route began to lose itself beneath the waves, the destabilized ground crumbling away into the dark below...

Alec was about to speak, grinning at Adrian, who had seemed lighten up after the battle was over, however, a problem had risen soon afterward, in which the ground had continued to shake once more. Alec fell back down on his knees for a brief second, only to get back up on his feet, trying to be quick. "A-alright!" Alec had said to Adrian who had told him to get out of the area. He quickly followed Adrian's lead quickly, bringing out his Salamence, Rex from his Poke ball. "No time to explain, Rex! We gotta get out of here, pronto! Alec had said, quickly hopping on his Salamence's back. The blue dragon had taken off, following after Adrian who was headed towards the direction of Mauville City.[break][break]

Alec had looked back, curious to see how bad the destruction was. It ... wasn't all that pretty. Alec had tapped Rex, to speed up after Adrian and his Corviknight. Soon after landing, Alec had immediately turned to Adrian and said, "What was up with your Tyranitar? Why did it go nuts like that? I mean, you guys won the battle!" Alec had asked. He wasn't necessarily mad at what had just transpired, but if Adrian knew his Tyranitar was like that in the first place, than using for the battle in an area like that was not a very wise choice. [break][break]

Alec may have been young and most of the time foolish, but he'd never endanger people with Pokemon like that. Alec sighed, and then spoke once more. "Well, I guess it could've been a lot worse, especially if we were underneath the Cycling Road," Alec said, trying to not sound like he was not ganging up on Adrian for his call on bringing out easily enraged Pokemon. [break][break]

After they manage to touch down safely, Adrian finally glances back at the small stretch of land connecting Mauville and Slateport. The debris whipped up by Iconoclast's Sandstream and Earthquake makes it difficult to truly see, but the damage is extensive. The Cycling Road seems unharmed, but there are riders at the edges, awestruck at what's happening below. Perhaps the Cycling Road's foundation had been disturbed...

But Alec had asked him a somewhat pointed question that he could only shrug at.

"He was going ape shit ever since that nasty Dragon Claw. Didn't you hear the way it...?"

Now Adrian wasn't trying to shirk responsibility, but it was true that Tyranitar had become enraged by the sheer circumstance of the battling, and nothing more. Tyranitar were among some of the most powerful of wild pokemon, belonging to an elite classification comprised largely of Dragon-types. That Alec should be so surprised had him flustered.

"He was blowing steam. S'not his fault he's a beast." Blame fell on its trainer, Adrian, although he wasn't going to regret letting his pokemon go all out. It had ultimately won him the rivalry match.

"I'm still going to tell the folks running the Road to maybe close down for a bit, until they can get it inspected," Adrian fessed up rather quickly, not wanting this to turn into a PR disaster.

Quickly turning his attention away, Adrian began the short trot over to the Cycling Road admittance area, but found himself looking back. "Hey..."

Wearing a lopsided smile, he leaves Alec with an open invitation: "We should battle again sometime, y'know...?" Alec was good practice.
