A wild Snom? Adrian wondered if they were giving them out before the remaining snow melted away, to give them a proper home before they couldn't properly care for themselves in the wild. Still, he'd already had a Snom before and had traded it away without much thought. He wouldn't capture it.

...But damn, was it cute. He felt guilty walking away from it, the depths of its beady black eyes rendering him self-conscious. Sorry, little buddy. Someone'll come along for you... Adrian sighed.

Hopefully the next pokemon didn't make him feel so guilty. Boy, he could be such a miser at times.

A cat? One he'd never seen before? That was great and all, but Persian was a very selfish kitty, and he'd probably harass anything that remotely tried to take its place. So that was definitely a no.

Adrian held his hand up to his chin in appraisal, though he decided against it. He didn't rightfully know what this thing was, and its blank state was proving a bit... disconcerting. He decided to steer clear of this stranger species, whatever it was...

As luck would have it, the next pokemon he encountered was filled with potential. A particularly gorgeous Eevee, and playful to boot, came prancing up to him in a bold display. Maybe it wanted to be taken away by a trainer, the way it fearlessly approached Adrian, who towered over it several times over. "Aren't you a bit cheeky?"

It'd started nipping at his boots, which prompted him to ready a pokeball. There were so many evolutions it could become: Back home in Sinnoh, Leafeon and Glaceon were a bit of a monopoly. And nobody would, in their right mind, turn down an Espeon, Umbreon or Sylveon. He was decided.

Dropping some bait for it to eat, he tricked it into lowering its guard, capturing it shortly thereafter.

After passing deeper into the game lands, Adrian came across a sunbathing Budew, though he was able to watch it from afar. It was a peaceful afternoon; the wind barely breezed past, allowing one to bake in the sun's warmth just long enough to get a toasty feeling until a breeze blew past. Budew was ingrained into the ground, absorbing the light and converting it into energy. Food.

It seemed wrong then to interrupt it. Passing it up came as bit of a surprise to himself (with the upcoming holiday this pokemon was sure to prove its resourcefulness,) but he decided to leave it well alone, hoping for something with a more...

Appeal.

Pacing beneath an apple tree, Adrian might've thought himself alone, able to take a momentary pause beneath the tree canopy. The sun was beginning to beat harshly in the open prairies, and he had neglected to bring a canteen. He'd start looking for fresh water soon, just as a precaution.

An apple hit him on the head then, in classic Newtonian fashion. Rolling away from the impact, it landed to his side, and he reached for it desperately. Apples were full of hydration, right?

As he reached out at it, a set of eyes appeared, and he visibly recoiled. "Eagh!" What was it?

And yet it made the most innocent, disarming squeal, like that of an animal mildly frightened. It was a pokemon, sure as daylight, but he didn't know which one. Was it a Caterpie stuck in an apple? They didn't have eyes like that, though...

But whatever it was, it had an appeal.

"Sorry buddy, I want you to come with me," he said as he gently reached out to snatch the creature off the ground. Another shrill squeak, more astonishment than fright, and he placed it in the hood of his wind jacket. "Let's get going."

And to think he would've eaten it...

Nudging a finger against the Applin's figure in a doting gesture, Adrian continued onward what seemed unabated, but silently a Woobat stalked him for the savory sweet Applin now hiding in his hood. It came swooping in without warning.

Flailing in panic on impact, Adrian managed to buff the Woobat in the face, sending it tumbling away. Applin managed to avoid the fate of being flung out of his hood at high speed, but was now quivering out of anticipation. "Tch, bugger off you wretched..." It came diving for him again, but Adrian was able to duck this time, plucking a rock off the ground. Of course he was going to use it.

When the Woobat came for a third pass, Adrian chucked the rock at it, and thankfully it made its mark. Striking it with an audible smack, he knocked the Woobat's lights out with a single blow.

But now it was unconscious, beaten and vulnerable. Could he really just abandon it there...?

"Awh, I'd better take ya with me, then..."

Scooping it up into his arms, he decided it would have to come back with him, even if it was annoying and creepy. But when it was sleeping like this (if you could call it sleeping,) he was able to get a closer look, realizing it was kind of an adorable thing. Still gave him the heebie-jeebies.
