Selena likes to go to public park and safaris when she's stressed out.

More often than not, she would find potential partners here and a bunch of pokémons who were more than willing to befriend her. It is certainly a privilege for the Desmarais siblings to own one of Kalos's biggest safari zones, and she's actually surprised this practice can also be seen in other regions like Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn.

"One ticket, please." She rushed to the cashier before finding herself in the middle of the vast green preserve.

Curiously, Selena walked by something strangely familiar to her.

She had known farfetch'd for a very long time. She even had the opportunity to babysit a bunch of them back when she was staying in a foster family in Johto. But she did not remember farfetch'ds going with this color.

Riddled with interest, Selena grabbed a ball from her waist and hauled it to where the duck was. Her fennekin jumped out, gallant as ever.

"Circe, eager to make new friends, aren't you?" She made the vixen use PSYCHIC—purplish glow soon covered the farfetch'd which made it float into the air as it tried swooping into the ground to regain its footing.

"I'll get you." Selena reached to her bag a safari ball and threw it to the disoriented bird, hoping to catch it with much ease.

SELENA sends out CIRCE (FENNEKIN).
CIRCE uses PSYCHIC.
SELENA throws SAFARI BALL.

"Circe, we caught it, haven't we?" Selena remarked with delight as she turned to her fennekin who was yipping as well. Selena let her pokénav scan the Safari Ball for it to read descriptions about the pokémon in question.

It turns out, it is really a farfetch'd of Galarian forme. The species of which has darker color compared to their Kanto-Johto variety and wields longer stalks. More importantly, this kind of farfetch'ds evolve into pokémons called sirfetch'd.

"That's amazing, Circe. I'm sure others would be thrilled to meet," Selena paused for a while, trying to think of a name that suited the newly captured partner. "Ares. We'll call him Ares."

Selena continued walking through the prairies and saw various pokémons typically rare for Hoenn. From a distant rock formation, there was a charmander loafing around. That's the beauty of safari, she thought to herself. Pokémons in their natural habitat and humans getting an opportunity to see them in their own comfort zones.

She smiled at the sight of the lizard pokémon before continuing.

There had not been a lot of moments where Selena would be ASTONISHED and lost her cool. As a journalist, she had been prepared to always expect for the worse and act accordingly in order to turn situations over. But she certainly did not expect that rock to move!

Unnerved, Selena shrieked at the sight of the moving golett which led her to call on her fennekin.

"Circe, FIRE BLAST!" The flames helped a little to halt the golem's movements, but it continued approaching Selena.

She realized fire and psychic would not work on a ground and ghost type, she needed someone more capable in handling these kinds of pokémons. Selena reached on her satchel fennekin's ball and called her back, and then summoned Medusa into the field.

"Let's get them, alright?" Selena checked in on the milotic who whooped just as it was called. "Use WATER PULSE!"

Medusa uses WATER PULSE!

Medusa gaped at the golett just as rings of water started forming on her mouth, sending a beam of water towards the ground type. It was sent spiraling towards the ground and Selena took the moment to throw a safari ball at it.

It was shaking tirelessly; she hoped Medusa's efforts would be enough to tame it.

CIRCE uses FIRE BLAST.
CIRCE comes back, SELENA sends out MEDUSA (MILOTIC).
MEDUSA uses WATER PULSE.
SELENA throws SAFARI BALL.

Medusa's effort did not go to waste as the its trainer managed to snare the golett, much to Selena's delight. With only one remaining safari ball, Selena continued scanning the rocky terrain to search for the last pokémon that would add to her team.

Selena was fortunate to find a shieldon peeping from behind the stone formations, a pokémon that reminded her of fossils she unearthed in Mt. Pyre. She was happy that the Hoenn preserves put much effort in reviving ancient creatures in the region.

Initially, Selena thought of catching the said shieldon but something tells her that she there's still someone waiting for her, a presence that she would be ecstatic if she learned how to wait.

And so she passed by the dinosaur-ish creature and drifted further into the rugged terrain, her milotic by her side.

"Medusa. Run."

Selena hoped the milotic would catch up on her as she speeded her way outside the rocky terrain. The bug looking pokémon surely freaked her out.

She did not know its name and she has never seen one before, until now. Apparently, looking at her pokédex revealed the creature to be a formation pokémon, similar to how magnemites bond together when they evolve or a flock of wingulls flying right next to each other or exeggcute eggs that join together.

If she only tolerated bug pokémons more, she would have noticed how the falinks broke their formation and looked less creepy that what Selena thought they were.

She looked back, searching for her milotic who was just a few meters away from where she's standing. She waited and prepped to continue her stroll in the safari.

A honedge.

The safari fences were closing in as Selena and Milotic reached the end of the path, just as when a honedge appeared before them, glaring as if it was looking for a battle.

She never really had an experience with swords as bow and arrows are all she was trained to do at the Desmarais household. Her father always tell her swords are for brutes and savages. But she doesn't know why this sword pokémon managed to have an appeal of elegance and beauty that totally captivated the Kalosian maiden.

Selena shifted her stance to face the challenger, her milotic a few feet in front of her, waiting for her command.

"It looks like it's the one we're waiting for, Medusa." She readied her remaining safari ball as she ordered the milotic to use SURF. Water surrounded the serpentine and sent a beam of water into the honedge. Seemingly enough to weaken the sword pokémon, Selena threw the ball into the wincing creature, waiting for a catch.

Medusa uses Scald!

"You'll like it in Team Selena, I promise you." She reassured it.

MEDUSA uses SCALD.
SELENA throws SAFARI BALL.
