An egg. Alec wished that he could eat it, but then again, that would mean that he would fail this quest. How he had come about having the egg in his possession was from an in-game merchant who seemed to travel from kingdom to kingdom within the Ransei Region. He had prompted the Demon Mage that he was was to take the egg to the Valora Region and pass it on to one of his brother who just so happened to be another merchant. Typical, Alec thought to himself. [break][break]

Alec had decided to pull up the message board to see if anyone would respond, explaining the details briefly to see if anyone would ant to tag along with him. However, if they pulled any funny business, he'd kick them off the bridges they had to cross without batting an eye. All he wanted was to get this mission over and done with. Honestly, missions like these weren't really all that challenging to him, however Alec had just started the game, and who knows, he and his potential partner could have some fun perhaps along the way, encountering foes who would want to pk them. [break][break]

However, it was a matter of luck when it came to that sort of thing with these types of games. He never had such luck when it came these kinds of missions in games like this one. Hopefully though that since this was a virtual reality game and everyone seemed to be playing it. Either way, as long as he was able to complete the mission, he'd perfectly fine with the outcome. after all quests still guaranteed him in-game currency. [break][break]

Alec, whom Selena did a PV ala battle royale with in her B&B character's previous escapades, had been bugging her about munching on something in the virtual reality. The truth is, even when foods here don't fill your real-life stomach, the digital satisfaction of actually tasting campsite curries and berries are up to a point that they no longer feel fake. So, imagine Selena's surprise when a certain black_heart32 popped up into her message log asking if she wanted to join him deliver an egg from Avia.

Selena knew needed to protect that egg.

Tapping into her controller, the option to teleport was thankfully accessible to every player (except for in-game, since that would compromise mages' ability to access psychic moves), and she dabbled the holographic screen in-front of her to access the locationn. AVIA.

The plain sight of a rural kingdom square suddenly in pixels and shifted gradually into that of a mountainous terrain. Above the clouds and into the air--Selena's looking down at a giga-million feet from above the ground where the only way to go to was forward.

She waited for the man to finally show up but surely there was restlessness painted on her face. This may not go well according to their plan.

Alec had casually walked towards the female mage who had already appeared at their designated meeting place, holding the egg in both of his black colored hands. "Alright, lets make a deal. You don't kill me; I don't kill you. We both deliver the egg and we both get payed for completing the quest. Deal?" Alec had said with a smile. It was hard to tell whether or not he was being truthful to her, however Alec slightly extended her hand to shake her own, which would show his trustworthiness, rather than showing it through his physical appearance.[break][break]

Alec had then asked her, "Can you hold the egg for a minute? I'm going to prepare a spell before we set out. Once I'm done, I suggest you do the same. there could be other players who might seek to kill us. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be prepared." Alec said, placing the egg in her hands, hoping she would accept to hold it. shortly afterwards, he grabbed his wand from his sash that was wrapped around his waste and had began to emit an energy that would Calm his Mind. It was a standard spell that any given number of mages could use as well as Psychic Type Pokemon. It would increase not only his defense from special attack moves, but also increase the power of his own special attacks. Not to mention his own ability SHEER FORCE, which increase a certain special attacks as well. [break][break]

Alec's mind was becoming calm by the second; his eyes rolling inward, making it seem as if he were either possessed or rather in some form of meditative state. within a few seconds later, he blinked his eyes, them rolling back into place as he flashed a grin at the female mage. He then held out his hands, accepting the egg back from her in order for her to to do the same thing. If they were both powered up before actually setting out, then they'd have a better chance at survival as well as completing this mission. [break][break]

That was the initial agreement. They both deliver the egg, they both share the rewards. No need for PK or whatsoever, at least from both of them.

"Deal."

Selena returned a nod to the demon mage but deliberately ignored the handshake. It's not like Alec would turn on his mission partner, especially if they haven't yet started. She did accept the egg though and waited for him to use Calm Mind. She did so too, as per Alec's suggestion.

After giving him back the egg, Selena activated the same spell as the other mage: CALM MIND. Just like before, Selena felt the surroundings muted and focused only in her own breathing. The move did make her feel ready for the journey through the kingdom's hanging rope bridges. She saw her stats for SPECIAL DEFENSE and SPECIAL ATTACK upped a notch as she felt a little powerful

"It's a long, boring road ahead to Valora. How about you tell me something personal about you?"

Selena offered Alec. The witch deemed the mission should not be boring and should give them the chance to be acquainted.

'Smart Girl.' Was the Demon Mage's initial thought of her not accepting the handshake, but accepting the agreement. Alec might go against his word, however this time, he figured it'd be best to just work together on this particular quest. After all, who knows what or who they would encounter while traveling to Valora. [break][break]

Despite that, Alec was eager for someone to come along and fight him. He'd just pk them with the help of his female partner and problem solved. As long as they stayed focus and used their moves effectively, then the two of them would surely be alright and defeat whatever enemy came across them. Or their travel could be completely safe and they make it to Valora easy peasy. [break][break]

"I am a Gym Leader in Pacifidlog Town. That Samurai chick as well as that rogue we fought? Well, they know I'm a Gym Leader in real life." Alec said after selenatheteenagewitch had asked him. It may have seemed like he wasn't forthcoming on telling something personal about it, however, Alec was actually very nice and kind. He still looked like a seventeen year-old boy, despite his demonic appearance. "Your turn. What about you?" Alec had asked with a smirk. He figured since he told her something personal about him, she'd probably be willing to share something about herself.[break][break]

Gym leader... of the Pacidlog Town? There was a lag in her thought process, but she picked up right away.

"Alec? As in 'the' Alec Foster?"

It's not like Selena was starstrucked. It was just her first time meeting a Hoennian gym leader, even though in virtual reality. Not to mention the fact that he was the first to acknowledge her challenge among all the other leaders of the region.

Selena went on and introduced herself.

"You may not remember this but you might have received a letter with a copy of my trainer card and passport here in Hoenn, and the picture is of a girl with pink hair and white overcoat. That's me. I'm one of your challengers." Selena slipped her wand inside her character's robe, the sprite of which vanished in a dash of pixels. "I received an acknowledgement letter so I assumed you already saw it."

It is then that she finally offered her hands to the demon mage.

"I'm Selena Desmarais. I'm a traveling journalist-slash-trainer and I'm going to win that Legend Badge!"

The couple almost reached halfway the path to the other kingdom and their adventure was going smoothly, except until Selena felt a nudge into the rope bridge. The nudge gradually evolved into a tremble, and when Selena started to figure out what was happening, the cable connecting the walkway from the other side started to tear.

When Alec had placed the egg in one of his Key Item Ineventory Slots, he had heard the female mage speak. "Yep. I specialize in Dragon Type Pokemon. Pretty different from my actual typing in the game, but I like the feel of being a Mage honestly. There's so many neat things a Mage can do with their spells." Alec had said. [break][break]

When the girl had told him who she was in real life, Alec knew immediately who she was. "Oh? Well, it's nice to finally meet you. Selena. And yes, I did read your letter, and I made sure to have your copy of your Trainer I.D. and Passport was filed." Alec had said with a smirk. It was then that his smirk grew wider, turning into a grin at Selena's words. "Well, I'll tell you now, it won't be easy, but I look forward to challenging you when the time comes." Alec stated, politely. [break][break]

As they had reached the halfway path to the Valora Kingdom, Alec felt a nudge from the rope that held the bridge up. Alec immediately knew that this was bad news, instinctly grabbing onto the rope. It was then that the Rope had gave way, and Alec quickly whipped his long black tail from around his waste, having it catch Selena, so that she wouldn't fall to her death. Luckily for them, the part of the rope that Alec had grabbed was the rope that was torn in half that led to the side they were going towards. Alec could feel Selena wrapped safely around his tail and said, "You alright down there!? I'm going to climb us up! I got you, so don't worry," Alec said in a calm manner, realising that his Calm Mind spell was in affect. Perhaps that was how he was able to act so quickly as well as save Selena from falling to her death. [break][break]

Alec had made sure to climb up the rope quickly, still having his tail hold Selena as he climbed. Just as they had both made it to the top, The rope had finally gave way and snapped once again, however, Alec was already on the surface, pulling Selena up to him with his tail, gently placing her on her feet. "Well, that was a huge adrenaline rush, huh? At least we're safe though," Alec said optimistically while still in a calm tone of voice. "I wonder why the rope snapped though," Alec thought aloud. Selena was probably wondering the same thing as well more than likely. [break][break]

"Yeah, it was." Selena's chest was still pounding when they reached the top of the cliff. She's afraid of heights and she didn't know virtual reality could perfectly recreate the simulation of that falling. As to how Alec managed to lift her with its tail, if ever it used its arms to control the tail's grip into her body, Selena did not bother to know. But she gave the man a tease he would expect from her. "Thanks for that, I owe you one. But you know, you could have just used your psychic powers to bring us up effortlessly."

She chuckled even as she catches her breath. Selena would have answer his question if she also knew what was going on. Too bad, his guess is as good as hers. Perhaps it is one of the things that make B&B a ruthless game for adults with childlike personas.

Unfair systems. Unfair schemes. Fun nonetheless.

The two decided to rest for awhile atop the hanging bridge that almost killed them, allowing for both to regain the energy they lost during that rush of adrenaline. Selena allowed herself to say the thing she didn't have the chance to when they were still crossing the hanging walkway.

"You know, I feel you. I love my Fennekin so much that I decided to be one... in this game I mean. Mages are awesome, right?"

Selena celebrated by firing an INFERNO between them, the momentary heat warming the otherwise cold breeze running through them from the altitude. Selena gave the mage a smile as she prep her things to continue their journey.

"Come on now. It will only be a few walks now before we reach for Valora. And I'm already starving!"

Alec chuckled a bit at Selena's comment and said, "True, but I'd like to keep my options open rather than relying on my in-game powers all too much. That's one reason why I decided to take this appearance ... aside from it look really cool," The Demon Mage said, flashing Selena a wide grin. Alec liked being in her company while playing this game. He was a Solo Player indeed, but making friends in a game like this was also definitely worth it, which was was rare for Solo players to do. Most of them would not even bother making friends with others, and even though Alec was techincally 'evil' in this game, he moreso showed a neutral ground of sorts. For him, it just depended on the current situation. [break][break]

Alec and Selena had decided to take a breather before continuing setting out once again, standing close to the fire she had conjured to stay warm from the altitude. Alec stood there, once more using his Calm Mind Just as Selena was prepping for their travel to Valora. However, just as they were about to set out, they were stopped by a group of in-game npc's that looked like Bandits. Alec stared at them with a glare. with Selena and his back facing each other. There were at least twenty of them. However, sadly, ten of them were warriors of what appeared to be a Dragon Type Icon by their Health Bars. Then the others were all Pugilists with a Fighting Type Icon. They grinned smugly while their 'leader' had stepped forward - Samurai Sword in-hand. "We'll be taking all of your Valuables! Resist, and we'll kill you!" He said, having the same stupid smug grin on his face. Alec had stood there silently. However, a few seconds later, a wicked and wide grin formed on Alec's face while quickly casting a very powerful Freeze Dry at the hoard of Dragon type Warriors that were standing in front of him. It was a perfect set up in which Alec had began laughing maniacally, enjoying himself as he was beginning to personify his in-game character. [break][break]

As they all had began to freeze rapidly in the wide radius, as the boss stood in complete and utter shock at what was happening. "Let me make this perfectly clear," Alec said, walking closer to the leader of the group who was now to weak to coninue. Some were able to dodge the attack given how many they were, but they stood there in fear as well as shock as well, too afraid to attack. Even the group thatwas facing Selena had stopped, staring on in complete shock. "You won't be taking anything. In fact ... You can sit there and freeze to death," Alec said, having a smirk on his face as the boss had began to fade away, signaling his death. Within a few seconds later, the the other npc Swordsman began to yell as they charged at Alec. his grin had warped even more maniacially as they rushed at him. [break][break]

Alec's suggestion proved to be useful when a bunch of AIs started attacking the pair for loots. Dear Arceus, does this ever end? Selena knew PK zones are brutally arduous, but she did expect the bridge was the final straw.

Standing back-to-back with the demon mage, the bandits easily surrounded the pair, wielding their own samurai steels and bracing their iron knuckes. Alec handled the dragon warriors pretty well, moving with FREEZE DRY that played well with type advantages. The devilish wizard taunted the leader of the pack just before it succumbed to what appears hypothermia, to which the witch teasingly poked fun of. "Pft. Showoff."

She needed to show him that she could also handle herself just fine. Selena snapped into the air, her wand suddenly floating on its own covered by a pinkish glow of light just like its wielder (PSYCHIC). Her hands motioned into the hoard of brawlers and they as well were covered with the same air of energy, propellled them from the ground, ignoring the laws of gravity. Selena noticed her powers intensified, with the boost of CALM MIND. Perhaps it's also because they were facing mobs instead of actual players.

The witch began flicking her hand and the bandits trapped in the midair followed with every flick, every swirl, and every twirl of her fingers. Finally, Selena closed her fist into a ball and the pugilists' bodies clashed to one another, sending their already low healthbar into a whopping zero.

"Meh. That's lame. I expected too much when they appeared. Maybe they're just mobs." Selena returned to Alec, who's now done confronting the leader of the warriors.

SELENA's current stats: HP (D), ATTACK (D), DEFENSE (D), SP. ATTACK (+01), SP. DEFENSE (+01), SPEED (D).

SELENA uses PSYCHIC (+01) at the BRAWLER AIs.

Alec had quickly prompted a Shell Trap, as soon as the remaining three Dragon Samurai had lunged at him with Breaking Swipe, however when there attacks connected, they got a nasty surprise, having been blown to nothing. Alec shook his hand that was cut by the three katanas, feeling the dull pain that come from their attacks, however Alec had noticed something odd. He had a x3 Attack debuff, however that was not what surprised him. His health bar was at eighty-five percent. Alec scoffed, realizing what was going on.[break][break]

"We aren't done! We have another wave coming!" Alec had said. No wonder he was able to kill those Samurai with Dragon typings. They were weak! Unfortunately, so was there boss. It was kind of a let down Alec had said, however after noticing how weak they were, he figured there would be plenty more where that came from and he was right. Suddenly, rogues appeared, weilding dual daggers, having an offensive stance, ready to battle them. Some of them were Dark Type and some of them were Bug Type. "This wave might be a bit more challenging. Don't let down your guard," Alec had said calmly, already performing another Calm Mind. His buffs from before were being stacked by three times the regular amount, which was close to maximum power. [break][break]

The Bug type Rogues had began to attack Alec while the Dark Type were focused on Selena. Hopefully, Selena would be alright dealing with the Dark types while he handled to Bug Types. Then again with his buffs, they wouldn't last very long, as they had blown up like the others, making Alec's HP Drop down to seventy percent of health. [break][break]
