It's probably a good thing that Selena invited avery jones in a duo training. After all, the player had so many question during their tutorial mission that she knew she needed to teach her a thing or two about fighting. It's not that the witch was good at this, but ever since B&B started streaming in the Hoenn servers, she was among the firsts that walked the PK zones of Ransei. She already knew the worst what this game has to offer the newbies.

And so Selena chose a kingdom fit for both of them. Pugilis. If avery jones was to shy away from battle against dangerous enemies, at least she would appeciate it if Selena brought her to a place where both of them have the most advantage.

Avery chews the inside of her lip in real life, unsure whether it reads well in the virtual world. Her hands are on the controllers but she's gripping it so tight her knuckles are white. Was this a good idea? What exactly had she agreed to?[break][break]

Selenatheteenagewitch had invited her to a duo-training mini event.. or something. Avery didn't know the basics, but she knew that it was something new that had only just been added to the game. Apparently it was a great opportunity to improve your skills without the need to be PKed by the meanies that lurked around. [break][break]

Shay grips her staff a little tighter, clearly uneasy about this whole situation.

"I''ll teach you anything you need to learn about fighting here." Selena replied. She would have told her to get ready since AI mobs, albeit weak and feeble being in a non-PK zone, frequently respawns in the area. But her tight grip into her staff reassured the witch.

And just as they were chatting, wild spawns appeared before them: a tyrogue and a sawk. There was nothing distinct about them. They looked the same as their real counterparts except both of them knew these were digital copies.

"I'll take on the karate guy. Get that tyrogue over there." Selena turned her back to the healer, expecting the same response.

"Classes vary in how they perform their attacks, but we mages and healers are similar: that is, through our staffs." But Selena's wasn't as long as the girl's. Hers was just an arms length wand. "I conjure an attack spell by saying the words. Like this."

Selena's eyes and hair glowed and flowed in lavander gleam as she uttered the spell, "PSYCHIC."

The sawk was then covered in the same purple glow, hovering it in the air, before sending it back. A text appeared above its fainted body, detailing the loot she collected. She thought the spawns here were rather weak for her taste.

"Try it."

SELENA uses PSYCHIC at wild SAWK.

Avery's face pales at the sight of the two baddies that appear. It suddenly occurs to her, though, quite suddenly in fact, that Serena had no idea that Avery didn't know a single offensive move. [break][break]

The woman is kind enough to explain how to use abilities, which comes as a great relief to the young healer. However, the fact remains that she is unable to use anything offensively in order to take down her opponent. [break][break]

Avery is bewildered by the amazing PSYCHIC power of her partner, watching as the Sawk is thrown and easily defeated. Avery, meanwhile, continues to clutch her staff and begins to sweat and panic.[break][break]

"I.. uh.. I don't actually --"[break][break]

But then she feels awkward admitting that she's useless and that Selena has almost certainly made a mistake taking her along, so she holds back tears as she summons a GRASSY TERRAIN.[break][break]

As grass and flowers sprout from beneath her feet, and thanks to the point of her staff, grows rapidly as it travels towards the Tyrogue. For whatever reason, maybe dumb luck, Avery's support move manages to trip up the Tyrogue and he soon becomes covered in the GRASSY TERRAIN.

Selena scatched her head, showing disappointment, as the other lady performed a GRASSY TERRAIN. How it managed to trip and decimate the tyrogue, however, is a question she would file in the wonders of virtual reality.

"You don't have any damaging moves, do you?"

Not that she's mad, but Selena took a liking at the girl's naivety and cuteness. Afterall, not everyone went to Ransai to destroy. This really made her curious as to why the girl signed up on B&B in the first place.

"Where'd you learn about this game in the first place? It's not like you really wanted to play this." Selena asked with a tone of curiosity.

New spawns appeared, two hitmonlees, as Selena tried to charge herself again. "Stay at my back since you can't damage." Selena instructed. "But do that thing again... just be resourceful with what you have. Use your surroundings, if anything. I'll handle this one."

One of the hitmonlees pounced with a strong BLAZE KICK. Selena managed to halt its movement with the use of her PSYCHIC⁠—controlling the creature's body as she throw it into the grounD.

SELENA uses PSYCHIC at wild HITMONLEE.

Avery's voice is quiet as she dips her head submissively, clearly upset that she had so blatantly disappointed her partner. But the other girl poses a question and she tucks a strand of green hair behind her ear, finger getting caught in her braid for a moment.[break][break]

"A close friend of mine introduced it to me - she's been busy though so we really haven't had a chance to play together. But I figured I could get really strong while she's gone, so I can protect her when she does come back. Although.. it seems sort of pathetic now that I think about it."[break][break]

She frowns, glancing back at her shoes. [break][break]

However, their conversation is put on pause while two more Pokemon appear. They seem angry, and Avery takes Selena's advice readily, rushing to stand at her back. She holds her staff steady, putting on a brave face.[break][break]

Selena uses her PSYCHIC abilities to incapacitate the first Hitmonlee, and Avery relies on the woman to take care of the second. In the case that the woman almost surely was targeted by the other, Avery would keep up with the GRASSY TERRAIN, following it up with FLORAL HEALING in order to keep the mage's health in tip-top shape.[break][break]

"I'll just make sure you stay healthy! I'm good at that, at least!"

The mage's PSYCHIC attack did the hitmonlee a number, causing it to collide with the other 'lee which already fell at the healer's GRASSY TERRAIN trap. Afterwards, she sprinkled a few healing magic to her avatar which quickly brought back the witch's health up.

"I think you'll do great." Selena reassured shay. "Being a teamplayer will take you to places. I'm sure of it. Just remember to buy attack moves when you upgrade your character. Got that?"

It's a good thing she healed her since a few more spawns appeared before the duo. The mage held tightly to her wand and began waving it to the approaching monkeys. "This is tiring me already. How about after this one, we hit the pub in the town square?"

A pink orb of lavander glow began hitting the monkey, causing it to stop at the middle of its attack. A variation of PSYCHIC move she had been using since then. "How about you, shay? Do you have some other tricks with that terrain move of yours?"
