The other side of the Kingdom of Valora is strangely beautiful. Avia is absolutely nothing to scoff at and instead, Stormy takes the time to drink in the sights and enjoy every minute of it. She's hunting, waiting for her partner to arrive, but she's happy to be on her own for a moment.[break][break]

Sometimes it's almost exhausting, jumping into the VR world and expecting some alone time to enjoy the sights all alone, only to be constantly jumped or interrupted by random strangers. To be fair, that was the point of the game, to play and interact with other people. But still.[break][break]

[attr="class","spiral"] This time Fernando doesn't kill her partner. Namely because he is her partner. Their frequent exchanges have shifted their dynamics and now he hunts with her on occasion. Only when their goals align does he relent. Otherwise, Stormy is nothing more than an annoying walking, talking bag of experience points.

"For a game, sure." He finds no amusement in being awestruck by pixels and code. Fernando's eyes are on the prize and that means loot.

She says it with a smirk on her face as she looks away from her partner, someone she'd come to rely on from time to time. He was strong, but it wasn't his reputation that intrigued her. In fact, nothing about him was specifically awe-inspiring. He was merely a strong player and she needed strong players if she wanted to survive.[break][break]

God, being a weak-ass mage really fuckin' blew.[break][break]

There's a shift in the air currents above her, and this time her sound settings are more attuned to pick up the slightest of noises. She can hear the flutter of wings and feathers just before a WHIRLWIND appears. It whips and pulls at her hair and robes, rendering her momentarily confused and flustered. [break][break]

The second Pidgeotto is coming in a mach-10 using a TAILWIND, summoning a TWISTER right on her tail. It seems the second Pidgeotto is following not far behind thanks to the TAILWIND boosting his speed.[break][break]

Together, they begin to assault both players.[break][break]

Stormy, through mouthfuls of feathers and debris from the combined WHIRLWINDS and TWISTERS, manages to send one of the two into oblivion with a well-practiced FREEZE-DRY.

Fernando hasn't configured his settings to the same precision that Stormy has. The WHIRLWIND catches him by surprise and displaces his own footing, causing him to stumble as he clasps onto his weapon for dear life. He's almost knocked off his feet and squats to center his gravity toward his lower body.

"Shit."

He can't do much with them flying all over the place and leaves it to Stormy to handle the first one. He spends the entirety of his time trying to pin the other one down and when the system marks that his aiming is set to land he pulls the trigger without hesitation. Consider it luck but the ZAP CANNON strikes true and eliminates the other pest.

"Little buggers. "

She frowns at his less-than-stellar response. The guy seemed like the type to no-life this game, so who was he to tell her to get out more? [break][break]

"That almost sounded like you were about to ask me on a date, if not for the scowl on your face."[break][break]

Her breath is stolen from her, however, at the end of the battle. The WHIRLWIND had caught her robes, carrying her off the ground. When both spawns are destroyed she is unceremoniously dropped, knocking the wind out of her. [break][break]

"Ooph.."[break][break]

The mage is only just getting back on her feet when two more Pidgeotto swap in, utilizing the same strategy as the last pair. This time, Stormy protects herself from the nasty talons of her enemy by frying the bird with a last-minute MYSTICAL FIRE. The smell of burnt feathers lasts only for a second before the bird disintegrates into pixels.

Fernando leaves his snide comment before checking his loot message. He doesn't notice that Stormy is stolen by the WHIRLWIND until he hears her land. The sudden thud catches his attention and he turns around to stare at her, both confused but highly amused.

"Watch yourself, gamer."

Unfortunately they're not left alone for long. It looks like they've agitated a flock. Fernando continues to maintain his position and tries to snipe at them when he can. Unfortunately, the HURRICANE makes it near impossible. The harsh winds throttle his hand and the CONFUSION that comes leaves him too dizzy to orientate himself correctly. The most he can hope for is an AIR SLASH, throwing them around wildly in the hopes that it hits.

When enough of them land, the Pidgeotto FLINCHES, which buys him enough time to eliminate the last one.

Stormy actually laughs, genuinely humored by his statement.[break][break]

'Online dating is for losers.'[break][break]

What a way to put it. Stormy shakes her head, holding her stomach at how hard she's laughing. [break][break]

"Oh my God... you're right, you're so right."[break][break]

As the last Pidgeotto dies to Fernando's hand, she wipes a tear from her eye and takes a breath, stifling giggles and probably hiccups.[break][break]

Unfortunately, she is not prepared for the Pokemon that comes next. The Butterfree is immense, bigger than she's ever seen. She literally takes a step back, awestruck.[break][break]

"What the.. what even is that?"[break][break]

But then it makes its presence truly known by hitting her once again with another WHIRLWIND or HURRICANE, she couldn't tell. All she knew is that she hunkered down as Fernando had earlier, doing her best to not get blown away again. [break][break]

"Take my hand!"[break][break]

She screams through the roar of the wind, trying her best to be heard. Her hand reaches for his, desperate for him to help ground her, to ground them both.[break][break]

With her free hand, she aims her wand as best she can in the wind that's blinding and overwhelming. They're being slammed repeatedly by BUG BUZZ, making it exceedingly difficult to concentrate. [break][break]

Still, though, she breathes fire into the wind, letting the branches and foliage and debris that whips around them to catch fire. It's as if they're in a cyclone of flame at some point as her MYSTICAL FIRE eats up everything and comes swinging back at the Gigantamaxed Butterfree. [break][break]

She can hear it screaming, or maybe that's her.

[attr="class","spiral"] Against his better judgement, Fernando reaches out for her and when their fingers interlock, he tugs. Unfortunately, rising up to reach her loosens his own center of gravity and the result is both of them being sucked up by the ensuing HURRICANE. It tosses them like rag dolls and Fernando's left defenseless.

"Goddamit."

He consciously lets go of Stormy and tries to aim his own weapon. It flickers within his grip, threatening to leave if he doesn't hang on for dear life. The sound waves of the BUG BUZZ makes it impossible to land anything concrete and after his ZAP CANNON misses for the second time, Fernando relents. Time to try something new.

He uses his ranger's beast taming skill to summon his SPIRIT OF WIND. It remains unfazed by the attack, no more than an avatar for his own attacks and successfully launching several AIR SLASHES. Each attack lands but it does nothing to dissuade the boss from letting up its attack. Not until Stormy turns its weapon against it and lights it on fire.

The insect catches on fire and starts to descend as it comes crashing down in a hot mess. Fernando does let the opportunity slip by and fires his first and last successful ZAP CANNON at it, making it easy pickings for them to wrap up with a combination attack.
