A tutorial mission? Weak, pathetic, there was no way that Rex was wasting his time with little missions like that. No, the moment he had learned how to attack, Rex was darting around, finding things to fight and brawl with. However, he wasn't strong enough to brawl with actual people, and Pokemon that repeated attacks got old quickly. [break][break]

Except here, the Arena. [break][break]

Rex almost danced in place, raising an annoying, crackling racket as he waited. Whoever entered, his virtual ears shot up in glee, and he shouted over, "You! We're gonna fight, you an' me!"

Stormy knew she wasn't cut out for hand-to-hand combat but it hadn't stopped her. Choosing the mage class had been a mistake. She would give anything to have the defense and health stats to actually stand a chance in a fight.[break][break]

She had blasted through the low-level missions, grinded her way to the top of the leaderboard on several occasions, only to be bumped out of place by newer players younger and spryer than she. None of that had stopped her, though. She was here to kick some ass in the ring, no weapons, no skills.[break][break]

Just simple one on one combat and it looks like she found her partner.[break][break]

The mage spots a young man bouncing up and down in the ring. He was laughing and cackling, thoroughly enjoying the experience. She couldn't help but feel energized by it as she approaches, tucking her wand into her inventory.[break][break]

"Sure, but you're gonna lose. Hope you're ready to get your ass kicked by a girl!"[break][break]

And then she heard the gate click behind her and the match begin, so she threw out a quick jab to start the fight.[break][break]

Even knowing that this was a game where one could look as different as one could imagine, Rex couldn't help looking at his opponent and scoffing. "Yeah, right. Let's put that confidence where your mouth is, eh? I'll test!" His own rambling confidence was cit off as the fist connected, whipping his head back and forcing a little smirk from him. "Is that it!?" The way his voice dropped, it was like an insult. [break][break]

Truly, being a Brawler, he was pretty resilient in the game. Still convinced it was his own prowess driving him, he rushed forward to try and bring a fist...or hoof...down on his opponent's head and would continue to hound her, refusing to back up or retreat. If there was one fact that stick with him in this world, he was strong.

The boy scoffs and Stormy chuffs, brushing imaginary dirt from her shoulder. He might think she looks ridiculous, but she wasn't the one with the dramatic antlers. He'd regret them when she got her hands on them.[break][break]

Her fist connects with his face and it makes a resounding smack as his head is thrown back. But he continues to talk smack. How did the saying go? Talk shit get hit?[break][break]

Stormy certainly did. So preoccupied with coming out on top she is unprepared for the man's counter-strike. His fist catches the side of her mouth and she gasps as pain jolts her character awake.[break][break]

"There's plenty more where that came from, antlers."[break][break]

But he keeps coming at her and she starts to try and weave her own punches where his fists don't fall. She's no brawler and, to be frank, she doesn't know a damn thing about hand-to-hand fighting. She's just praying she's quick enough and strong enough to come out on top anyway.[break][break]

Rex studied his own health bar as he took another hit, frowning as it falls. You'd think the bar would realize he wasn't taking that strong of hit, you know? Whatever, he was built for this, both in and out of the game, and he refused to let himself lose. "Hey, you're not that bad, I'd say I'm a master, and you're...apprentice." Even as stress built up, he kept talking, refusing to show any sign of weakness. [break][break]

As close as he was, it wasn't too hard to swing his fist again, trying to keep the pressure up until his opponent would feel this even in the real world! [break][break]

The strangers health bar goes down bit by bit with every punch, but she can't help but wince in spite of herself. Maybe she shouldn't have invested in the realistic suit that allowed her to feel everything - it clearly wasn't working in her favor right about now.[break][break]

Stormy gasps as she shakes her hand, shaking away the brief moment of pain as her knuckles connect and break contact. The mage is unprepared for the next attack that lands, knocking the wind out of her and forcing her backward. She spits virtual blood from her mouth, wiping it across her cheek.[break][break]

"Apprentice? How insulting."[break][break]

She bites her lip to numb the pain throbbing in her cheek, and she comes in once again to land her own punch. She wasn't about to just let some punk win![break][break]

A chuckle shook his shoulders as the woman's avatar shook its hand, clearly pained by the impact of fists, "Aww, ya new to this?" He sneered, "Everyone can't be like me...you punch enough times, everything stops hurting, you can't just fight as a newbie." A mixture of glee and mockery swam in his voice, and he advanced threatningly. It was just a fool's errand, this fight. Fun, but he sure wished to meet this kind of fighter again, when it would actually hurt. [break][break]

Either way, something seemed to be happening. What he didn't know is that his attack started to rise as the fight continued, and his attacks hit. It fit him well enough, especially as a burst of pain that hit him across the face feed his appetite for the violence, even if he wouldn t bruise, the fake blood on his lip was good enough. [break][break]

"I'm gonna, I'm gonna put you down!" He chattered, waiting for another chance to strike again.

Her virtual jaw sets as he continues to egg her on. Deep down she knew he was probably just trying to get under her skin - saying all of these things on purpose to get a rise out of her. He was trying to make it so that she made a mistake. [break][break]

But she refused to fall for his tricks. She was stronger than that.[break][break]

"Shut up!"

Okay, maybe she wasn't as strong as she thought she was, because he was definitely getting under her skin.[break][break]

Every punch he hits her with lands that much harder - he was a brawler, she was putting it together now. She gasps, forcefully being driven back as his fists connect with different areas of her body. She's failing, falling behind, losing.[break][break]

This time, however, she moves fast enough to block his next attack with her wrists. His punch shakes her to her core and she winces under the pressure as if her wrists in the real world had been hit by the force.[break][break]

"You fight like a girl."[break][break]

And then she drives in hard for another swing.[break][break]

The next blow shut him up for a moment, a cautionary glance at his own HP bar telling him one thing. It was close to the end. [break][break]

Somehow, the juvenile insult seemed to hit him the hardest, his face suddenly dropping into a furious frown as he snorted like an actual animal. The good news was, he finally stopped talking. The bad news was, he saw it fit to drop his guard and rush at his opponent, eyes flashing with a fury that didn't exactly seemed related to the person, simply the words. [break][break]

Nobody gets to talk like that to me anymore! [break][break]

It was like he forgot this was a game where victory depended on the health bar. With that condition, it would be better to hold back and try to whittle his opponent down the rest of the way...but that was unacceptable for Rex, wasn't it? No, his determination was that he was going to somehow show what a great fighter he was, by knocking out a game avatar? [break][break]
