She follows his gaze to the vents, then back down to the pout that brings warmth to her face. It surprises her how easily it makes her heartbeat quicken. A dangerous game.[break][break]

"You poor thing..."[break][break]

And she finds herself slipping from the chair and approaching the bed. She motions for him to scooch over and give her room before squeezing in next to him. She even makes an effort to pull her hair to the side so as to not tickle him. [break][break]

Or maybe she's saving herself from having her hair pulled out by awkward arm movements.[break][break]

[attr="class","lancepost"]her little motion makes him move to give her enough space on the bed. the moment she nears the coldness in the air starts to fade away and by the time she's next to him it all but disappears. warmth replaces it and he finds it comforting. finds her comforting.

she is oddly warm but he assumes it's lingering heat from fighting the fires. he leans in a little bit closer; skin grazing skin, as their bodies press against each other. he offers her the magazine, still on the same article as before.

She lends her warmth easily, goosebumps appearing out of spite rather than because he's cold. His skin brushing hers sends nervous tingles up and down her spine, but she leans into him anyway. She chuckles awkwardly at his comment, but she's relieved that he really is better. [break][break]

The mood is not so much soured as much as it is plucked like an elastic band when he offers her the magazine. She glances at him with a deadpan look that speaks 'are you serious?' But he is, surely, or else he wouldn't have asked. Or maybe he's just playing her like a fiddle, and she's letting it happen.[break][break]

Regardless, she props the magazine open and begins to read, shooting him pointed looks in between tips.[break][break]

"Three: he’ll find excuses to touch you in a sweet, kind way, like softly touching your arm or putting his hand on your shoulder." Another brief, fleeting glance. "Four: he wants to impress you. He may exaggerate or embellish at times, but that’s only because he wants to impress you. He wants you to know how great he can be."

[attr="class","lancepost"]as much as he would like to admit otherwise, lance is exhausted. he realizes as much when he struggles to stay in the moment, when the sounds from the television start blurring into the background. she reads to him and it's so soothing. he relishes every moment of it. his eyes close when she finishes the third tip.

the moment tugs on the nostalgia of his heartstrings and as dangerous as it may be he lets it. perhaps this time it'll be different.

like what is suggested in the third tip, lance reaches for her arm. his touch is soft as he shifts on the bed, sinking further into comfort. and by the time she finishes the fourth tip, he's drifting off to sleep.

She feels herself trailing off as she speaks when she realizes Lance isn't really listening. Where at first she's irritated by his lack of interest, her expression softens when his hand finds her arm. The gesture is so sweet and warm that she sucks in a breath. For a long time, she just watches him sleep, a smile pressed to her lips.[break][break]

Stormy sighs, her breath extended as she shakes her head at the picture laid out beside her. She's walking a fine line yet again, but she walks it well. And, without even meaning to, she's walking right into his path.[break][break]

Discreetly and quietly, Stormy shifts so as to not wake him but also to make herself comfortable - she wasn't about to sacrifice her neck. And, it's much more comfortable nestled up against him properly - for the both of them, even.
