Shiny Umbreon (Inner Focus): Detect | Copycat | Screech | Iron Tail | Assurance | Confuse Ray

A rise in pokémon thefts never failed to bring the former Team Rocket to the public's mind again. This was a scar the new Team Rocket had to deal with on an almost consistent basis. Publicity in their line of work was typically bad, even if it was towards a version of their organization that didn't exist anymore. Why Team Rocket had chosen to keep the name still baffled Remy, quite frankly.

While the Fortree City Police Department struggled to find the culprit behind these string of thefts, however, Remiel and Marcel Maeda managed to trace the clues to a shack deep in the recesses of the Fortree forest. It was evening as they came upon it, the Galarian admin giving it a wide berth as his blue Umbreon sauntered ahead to scout for booby traps. Quietly, the black-haired royal remarked: "It reeks of wet dog."

[break][break]it's an interesting turn of events when marcel is the one chasing down the thief; his experience on the other side perhaps helped in determining that their culprits were not, in fact, the petty thieves they were assumed to be.

Just before the blue Umbreon saunters forward to enter the shack himself, the flimsy wooden door bursts open to reveal a rather shaggy Oranguru.

It stumbles out with a torn-up plastic sash around its torso. The little pockets in said sash denote the item's true identity as a door-hanging shoe rack. The ape has repurposed the trash as a makeshift belt for his stolen pokéballs. Four to be exact.

It sleepily yawns and scratches under its armpit for a moment before, finally, taking note of the two humans standing before it. In what can only be perceived as indifference born out of overconfidence, the ape reaches for two pokéballs and casts them out in the space between them.

Salem narrows its eyes aggressively on the Vigoroth in front of him. "Looks like we have a pokémon playing pretend... how cute."

[attr="class","mthread"]marcel blinks. "so i really am seeing this..." comes his response. he watches the oranguru with a mix of curiosity, wonder, and annoyance. a breath of laughter escapes him.

"i feel kinda bad for ruining it's fun now." he says as he makes some gesture with his hand. his bisharp seems to understand, and lunges at the garbodor with PSYCHO CUT. the garbage pokemon lets out a roar before retaliating with a METAL CLAW.

"Even if it knew its 'fun' was threatening to put us in public scrutiny, I'm not so certain it would care." Remiel adds, watching as his Umbreon encircles the Vigoroth. "And for that it has to pay. Iron Tail." He commands, prompting the Umbreon to leap and crash down on the smaller ape with the powerful attack.

As the Vigoroth is struck, staggering backwards but quickly retaliating with a Fury Swipes, Remiel's eyes shift back towards the ringleader. The Oranguru has effortlessly climbed a nearby tree at the corner of the shack it has claimed. It scales it in order to reach the rickety thatch roofing.

When it finds a good spot, the ape lays its butt down and settles in to watch the match.

[attr="class","mthread"]and so it is damned. as remiel finds himself engaged in his own battle, marcel's eyes follow the psychic type as it climbs. he sees the garbador forming the beginnings of a SLUDGE BOMB and takes this as his moment to strike. "get the oranguru."

the bisharp steps forward, letting the poison attack roll harmlessly of its body. with its target in sight, it shoots a relentless series of rocks at the pokemon, hoping to use STONE EDGE to knock it off the roof.

Marcel was right to act on the Oranguru fast. When it saw that Salem had withstood the Vigoroth's Fury Swipes well, the ape had begun to reach for another set of pokéballs— its last two, to be exact. And, rather than drag the conflict on, Remiel was certainly in agreement that taking out the ringleader was their best course of action.

"Salem!" He commanded, catching its attention as the damage from the Fury Swipes was transformed into additional power for its next attack. "Assurance!" The royal continued, pointing towards the Oranguru as it was nearly knocked off the roof by the Bisharp's Stone Edge.

Though it hung onto the roof's edge by one leg, it was swiftly and firmly smacked down by the powerful Assurance that the Umbreon had to deliver. Landing on its head, the ape groaned and flopped over onto its back as the remaining pokéballs in its sash spilled out and rolled into the mud. The Vigoroth and the Garbodor, in the meantime, blinked and stared at the Oranguru.

They had clearly been hypnotized until now.

[attr="class","mthread"]he wastes no time, "night slash." while the garbador and vigoroth still struggle to grasp their surroundings, marcel's bisharp charges past them to catch up with remiel's umbreon. swinging a fist up, the blade along its forearm glows a grisly purple as it brings it crashing down onto the oranguru's chest.

marcel strides to the door, trusting their pokemon to get the job done. as he glances in, he almost steps on a stray pokeball; he walks over it to find countless more littered around the room. he turns back to remiel, "looks like we've got a pretty big haul here."

Remiel sighs as he walks past the confused Garbodor and Vigoroth to look down at the unconscious Oranguru. These creatures were typically smart enough to keep to themselves and hide away in areas considered inaccessible or unknown to man. Why this one had decided to grow out of the norm was a mystery. But not necessarily one he cared to figure out himself.

Retrieving an empty heavy ball from his pack, he crouched down to press it against the unconscious ape. Its body was devoured by light, and he straightened in posture once he was sure it would remain inside. "Leave everything where it is. I'll send Salem to go fetch law enforcement while we wait." Remiel suggests, nodding towards the Umbreon and sending it off.

The stolen pokémon would make a good haul for their organization, yes. But it would also render their efforts to neutralize the public's focus on Team Rocket void. So all the pokémon needed to be returned to their proper trainers, and the Oranguru would need to be delivered into the hands of local authorities with crime scene and all.
