The Gastly apparently fancied itself a water spirit, and had emerged from the flowing river as Theseus had bent down to scoop some fresh water into its mouth. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity that it was to train against a Ghost-type— when his typing, by nature, couldn't touch a Ghost-type— Remiel also noted the strange coloration of gas that made up the Gastly's body. Perhaps dwelling in the water so much had changed its composition.

It was these thoughts that had him reach for an empty ball as Theseus struggled to strike the taunting phantom down. When the cub finally figured it out and bashed it down from the sky with an Iron Head, Remiel cast the ball and captured it. He sauntered over to the cub as he watched the ball shake afterwards, offering a few pats.

A Tentacool bobbed its head out of the river water, once again baffling Remiel as to its presence there. It was a typical presence in saltwater, and the majority of the world's oceans for that matter. But here? It proved to be hardy to be able to survive.

The question, of course, remained: how had it entered the river to begin with? Why was it here? Was it on its way out or was it choosing to remain? Regardless, Remiel felt no need to bother catching it right at this moment. He would reach the mouth of the river first. And seek answers to these questions himself.

Another Eiscue soon appeared out from the river to the left. It floated along with the current helplessly, effortlessly keeping itself bobbing but helplessly paddling its feet in an effort to swim to shore. It appeared to be a youngling. Remiel could still see some of its down.

With his recently captured, and strangely colored, Eiscue attached to his hip within a luxury ball, however, Remiel had no need to capture this one. Instead, he would let it float along and past them. Surely, the current would drop it off into the ocean it belonged.

A blanket of ragepowder fell from the sky after the Scatterbug had cast it. And, though he tried to avoid it, all it took was one inhale to cause Theseus to struggle against a wave of anger that overcame his mind. Remiel called out to the cub, but to no avail. It glared at the Scatterbug and charged forward with reckless abandon, even as it attempted to wrap him up in a String Shot.

What followed was a difficult struggle to strike the bug down. And, though it took a bit longer than he would have wanted, eventually Theseus did. Remiel could have easily made a move to capture, but didn't. It had proved how unworthy it had been just now.

As they were approaching what appeared to be a giant icy lake, Remiel spotted it: a pink Dratini poking its head out from the crystal clear river water. He held out a hand to stop his Kubfu from approaching it. Initiating combat right from the start was likely to spook it, after all.

So, instead, the Galarian reached into his pack and pulled out a granola bar. Though the crinkle of the wrapper as he opened it served to briefly startle the little wyrm, Remiel managed to avoid scaring it too much before he tore off a piece of his bar and tossed it into the river. Cautiously, the Dratini approached it... then it nibbled on the treat before diving beneath the water.

Then, for a few moments: nothing.

Until, eventually, it reemerged only a foot away from the river's bank. It happily chirruped at Remiel for more of his granola bar and he stepped forward to accommodate it. Whether it would choose to stay with him after, however, was yet to be seen. Theseus, in the meantime, watched the entire interaction from afar and pretended not to want any granola bar for himself.

The river lead to a gigantic, icy lake in the middle of the forested region. At its center was a large glacier, slowly crumbling away into chunks that floated along and gradually melted in the waters. Though he was hard-pressed to see them without his pair of binoculars, Remiel noted the appearance of Tentacool within the ice.

So this is where they've been coming from...

He thought to himself, seeing one of them bob up and out of the water with a glazed look in its eyes. Deciding it wasn't worth the trouble of catching it, Remiel moved on and followed the large lake along its border. Perhaps he would discover more interesting things during his time here.

A Sunkern hanging from a tree nearby seemed eager to capture their attention with a GRASSWHISTLE. If it had done so with the intention to lull either of them to sleep, however, it had failed. Even if it had only reached out to what it believed could be a new friend, its consequence would not go undelivered.[break][break]

Looking to Remiel for approval, Theseus bounded off when it was given in the form of a curt nod. Then, before the Sunkern could detach itself from the tree and hop away, the small cub punted it far into the sky with a swift DYNAMIC PUNCH. It disappeared far beyond, farther than Remiel could hope to ever throw a pokéball— even if he cared to. Which, quite frankly, he did not.[break][break]
