The Jagged Pass.

Remiel had been here enough times that, at this point, at least in the moderate regions of the territory, the Jagged Pass had become the ideal place to run his exercise regimen. And who better to run it alongside him than his loyal Kubfu? It took to the rugged terrain like a fish took to water, leaping from boulder to boulder but pausing to ensure that its master could still keep pace.

When it felt that Remiel was lagging behind, the cub urged him on with cheers and a wave of its arms. It almost made the young royal feel bad for pushing it so hard during other training sessions. Perhaps he needed to rethink some things.

A Xatu watched them from overhead, perched upon a particularly blackened outcrop of rock on the cliff high above. As they ran up an incline, panting with every heavy step that they took, Remiel bothered to look up and stare back at it. The bird remained motionless, its wings outstretched as far as they would go.

In its mysterious eyes, the black-haired royal imagined what forgotten pasts and ever-fluctuating futures it saw. Did it even see the present, running along just in front of it? Perhaps it knew how the tale of Theseus and Remiel would end. If it did, however, it certainly would not share. So the pair moved on and, eventually, it went out of sight.

Kubfu was certainly a unique pokémon. Based on the research Remiel had conducted so far, he imagined it had some sort of pheromone that attracted challenge. And, lo and behold, they would soon come to find a Hitmonchan blocking their path. It raised its fists in an attack stance as they approached. Remiel looked down to the cub jogging beside him and nodded. It was time.

"Aerial Ace." He commanded, prompting Theseus to dash forward in an impressive display of agility before striking the boxing pokémon down with one swift chop. When Remiel came upon its felled body, he jumped over it and resumed their jog. Theseus, in the meantime, proudly puffed up his chest at it before catching up with master.

They had reached the summit of their climb, a neat and idyllic area with several fruit trees and rocky outcrops. But the Kirlia tending to these trees certainly didn't take their presence here kindly. Theseus braced itself in front of his master when he noticed she was going to attack. Unfortunately, he had been entirely unprepared for the Psychic that suddenly flung him out of the way.

"Get up." Remiel ordered after its body hit the ground. The Kubfu grunted, then stumbled back up onto both feet. "Iron Head." And, with an amused grin, the cub took a firm stance before focusing its energy at the top of its head. When the Kirlia attempted another Psychic, Theseus detected it in time to dash forward and avoid it.

Then, without fail, landed his strike. The battle, and their training had ended. And Remiel wouldn't bother catching their downed opponent.
