Fernando more deadpan about it than he should be. Like Kyle, victory comes at any cost, no matter how juvenile the method, but he's caught off guard with how their solution seems to be the one size fits all. Hopefully, that's the only thing that catches him off guard. Despite how safe the obstacles are set up, wiping out is the last thing on his mind.

Just like last time, Fernando's Girafarig uses BEAT UP on Kyle's Pokemon. A multitude of Pokemon walk over to give the Mudsdale a slap on the ass for good luck. Apparently that type of harassment steels you for anything. Fernando takes the lead if only to serve as a distraction in time for Kyle to follow up as their true bulwark.

as much as kyle prefers his gimmicks, he always has a solution for almost everything if he puts it in a metagame-y sense. put everything in a vacuum and everything is as easily exploitable like the games he plays on battle simulators. these solutions weren't practical, but at least they work in a controlled environment such as this.

his mudsdale gets slapped by the girafarig, with each hit increasing his defense by a stage. by the end of it, the mudsdale has adjusted and is ready to take over the world.

as they commence, the obstacle course comes to life. various mechanizations begin to punch into the air. studying their timings is important— if they had time.

"don't fix what's not broken, yeah?" noah ducks his head. he narrowly avoids being clobbered in the face by a rod with leather padding at its end. it's like a q-tip. but for beating people.

his medicham takes several hits of an upcoming obstacle so that noah can pass through. thankfully, a PSYCH UP has allowed the pokemon the ability to withstand more with nonchalance.

So they just had to make it through the obstacle of a thousand punches with their Pokémon taking the brunt of it so they could get through safely?

Sounds easy enough though it would make June feel a bit bad about just letting this little bear thing get slapped up even though in her limited experience with it she felt like nothing fazed this thing.

Maybe it was because it was too busy trying to keep itself up all the time?

God that sounds awful.

Fernando gives a sagely nod, watching them scramble across the high-end platforms while waiting for his Girafarig to PSYCH UP. Only after the Pokemon leaps onto the protective tarp does he follow. All his effort is put into evading the incoming obstacles. It's too risky to place any concern onto his Pokemon. After all, it only takes one wrong move to end up swept below, drowning out any hopes they have on making an impressive performance.

it doesn't matter how they do it. what's important is that it's being done. the mudsdale wasn't the first thing he'd think of bringing in an obstacle course, but he supposed it'd make sense if he used it as a wall.

kyle lets his mudsdale take the role kyle had given it, using it as a barrier between each obstacle and himself. the pokemon seems solid enough not to get shaken with each hit it takes.

thank god this is no tail grabbing game. no over-sized version of soccer. no mad dash to secure eggs to toss into hellish pits filled with jellybean men.

but it's still all too similar. noah's medicham is steeled in both body and mind, and as the pink martial artist leaps on to the platform, it quickly deflects an incoming foam beam. noah is hoisted up in time before the beam's next rotation.

"thanks," noah says in between breaths.

the course's skeleton is layered in blue vinyl skins. polyester laminate reminds him of classrooms with no AC, skipped classes, and kantonian sports days.
