the beach of lilycove light up the night as tiki torches brightened up the darkness. along the beach was another party set up away from slateport as part of the city's own summer celebration. the main attraction was a group of alolan marowak's who were lined up and dancing for a crowd with their staffs glowing with ghostly fire as they twirled them around. among them was kazimir's own marowak that decided to join in on the fun and kaz was among the crowd cheering him on.

"c'mon uhane! show them up!" he had to remember that it wasn't really a dance competition, that was for later, so there was no need for his pokemon to stand out among them. still he wanted to get his marowak's blood pumping even more so he thought cheering him on would at least help them out. so far it seemed to be working a little bit as his marowak seemed to be moving more precisely than the others and the others were doing what they could to keep up.

An event like this required a Ranger present just for necessity. A water-type on hand just in case the celebration got a little too hot. That still didn't mean that Kaida was completely adverse to the idea of having fun. [break][break]

Her work Pokemon stayed safety in a Pokeball, only necessary if the flames got out of control. Instead, Kaida released a Salnazzle and Charmeleon into the festivities, Freya and Loki weaving in the crowd like they were itching to join in the festivities. Better for this, she supposed, Jotun wasn't a night owl, anyhow. [break][break]

She pushed forward, near the proud owner of one of the Marawok...she had to assume, given all the screaming. "Very skilled." She observed out loud, waving her hand at Freya and Loki, who wandered a little too close, "Don't disturb them, Freya, Loki."

Razz was low-key annoyed at what he was seeing. The newbie ranger had spent most of the day cleaning up trash around the seashore houses and now was hoping to rest up. For the most part it was all fine despite the loud crowd, with the night giving a well needed break from the sun, the little tikki torches being a fun little touch. Though he defiantly wasn't a fan of the fire dancing Marowak group that was preforming. Even if its been some time since hes gotten his scar his aversion toward fire types hasn't gone away. The only reason he was still even watching was because of his partner Salem. [break][break]

The little psychic cat pokemon was enjoying the dancing so much that he was following along, as Razz himself was just sitting at one of the tables away from the crowd but still close enough to keep an his good eye on his partner. Salem was pretending that the popsicle his trainer got him as his dancing stick, and when he watched the group of Marowak throw up their flaming bones Salem threw up his popsicle. Though the Meowstic's dance moves were nothing like the trained fire dancers and rather than it landing in his hands like most of the bones Salem could only watch as his icy treat fell on one of the heads of the Marowak. as kazimir started to mimic the movements of the marowak he was approached by someone who wore the uniform of a ranger, and looked oddily familiar, who complimented on his own marowak who seemed to have taken charge of the troupe. it lead them with a sword dance as it wielded its stick like a katana and sliced the air, nearly snuffing out the light on the torches as it did.

"uhane? yeah its kind of the first time i've seen him get excited for anything other than battling. so its kinda refreshing and cool y'know? he really seems to know how to drum up the audience." sure enough everyone among the audience were slowly starting to move to the beat of the song and dance these marowaks were beating out. it all came to a screeching halt when one of them was stopped dead in its tracks by a popsicle landing right on its skull, suddenly prompting it to lash out and act wild as it charged into the audience. "whoa ok, i didn't think audience participation was a thing..."

The charming scene was actually rather relaxing, even prompting Kaida to bob in place alongside the music. An action she would soon curse even when her most logical thoughts told her there was no way she could have foreseen the mysterious popsicle from the skies. Maybe she'd soon have to consider bad luck followed her, at least recently, she thought too much chaos was happening around her. As the Marowak charged into the crowd, she focused on the task at hand. She could ponder the eerieness of her attraction of bad luck later. [break][break]

"There is no audience participating, it's a dance!" She cried out, losing the Marowak instantly. "Freya, find him!" She called out, the Salnazzle already weaving around bodies as she pursued the enraged Pokemon. Kaida kept a hand on one Pokeball, neglecting to release the Pokemon just yet. The situation was still under control. "Gotta catch him, come on!" She directed her order towards the man watching his own Marowak and, lacking any way to force him, simply starting pushing through the crowd towards where Freya had pursued. The lizard was quick and possessed venom in case she was resisted, the best case scenario would be for Kaida to arrive to a pounced on Marawok but, knowing her, it wouldn't be that easy.

(థ Å థ) "Nyaaaaa" was the sad cry that caught Razz's attention having been uninterested in the fire dancers so he was just messing around on his phone. While the cat knew the dance stopped cause of his treat he turned around not thinking the dancer would try to attack. Instead his focus was to complain that his ice cream was now gone to the Ranger. "Maybe you shouldn't have danced with it hmmm?" he chuckled before hearing a yelp from the crowed. Razz only had the instant to take in his surrounding as old instincts kicking in. Crowed was parting, the dancers had stopped and one of them was headed their way. [break][break]

"Defend and halt," he was quick to order Salem's old habits kicking in as he turned with spread arms as a shining, rainbow colored barrier showed up between the Marowak and Salem to stop it in it's tracks. The Blue cat's eyes then turning blue with the use of PSYCHIC to then hold the purple Marowak in place. He noticed the red stain on it's head and was quick to put two and two together. "What did you do?" he grumbled to which Salem gave a vague answer as he was focusing on keeping the attack in place. [break][break]

For now the two could only wait for whoever was in charge of these untamed dancers to show up.

as chaos ensued kaz just stood there watching while uhane was in disbelief as how such a nice evening was suddenly ruined. when the woman who approached him suddenly went off to chase the rampaging marowak that dove head first into the crowd. the other marowak were crying out for their friend to stop while uhane just stood there dumbfounded at what was happening, upset deep down that his hardwork had gone down the gutter. kazimir was there to give him a pat on the head, "hey man, you were still doing good if you ask me. buuuuuut...we should probably help keep your cousin in line don't you think?"

the marowak nodded and the two of them watched not only the woman with her salazzle snaking their way through the crowd following it. meanwhile the marowak was heading for a man and his meowstic and raised its bone in the attempt to whack it. unfortunately it stopped in its tracks as the mewostic was holding it back with its psychic powers, however since it was partially ghost type the shackles broke in an instant and its bone flared up with ghostly fire as it brought down a shadow bone.

uhane was much quicker than he appeared to be though as he managed to slide right inbetween the two pokemon and block the attack with his own shadowbone as the two marowaks struggled to overpower one another. "whoa that was a close one." kaz commented as he came up from behind KING WAYLAND and put a hand on the man's shoulder, "looks like we got someone who doesn't know how to behave in public huh?"

Freya darted in even before Kaida did, only hearing another cry of hers as the sound of Pokemon moves being used became obvious, "Stop them, Freya!" Thus, when she came across the clashing Marowak, she focused on the attacker and focused a Disable on the enraged ghost. [break][break]

The Shadow Bone faded, leaving it to back away from its more capable opponent, and Kaida finally pushed through. "You!" She snapped at the rogue Pokemon, "Calm down or we will calm you down!" Her two Pokemon darted forward, adding to the threat level as they helped surround the dancer. [break][break]

"Are you ok?" She directed at the other man and his Meowstic, hoping he hadn't suffered any injury. The dancer may have been interrupted, but that would never let her allow civilians to be attacked.

"Someone is getting sloppy," he comments to Salem who looks flustered and starts pointing to the attacker his popsicle stick and kept babbling fast enough that Razz couldn't keep up with context. In the past Salem did pretty well in protecting himself, even when he had the disadvantage but admittedly their training hasn't been on par with what it use to be so it shouldn't be too surprising. Either way though Razz didn't entirely appreciate what helped out his partner as it was just another of the problem dancers and some... poison lizard? He wanted to guess as this was another he wasn't familiar with. Okay he was going to need a day to study all these 'alolan' pokemon. [break][break]

At the sudden touch of the on his shoulder he was quick to roll his shoulder to move it off from habit more than any attempt to be rude. Great just what he wanted attention. "I'm fine, but thank you both," he was short in reply his lack experience with people in this sort of situation really showing but he managed what he intended to be a polite nod of thanks. He wasn't used to being helped in such a way and he wasn't a fan of the feeling, but honestly he was just tense most of all. "Can't really expect fire-types to keep their temper under control in private or public it seems," he replied to the bulkier man's words, normally he was able to keep his disdain for fire types more under wraps, but he was tired and one of them just attacked one of his more important pokemon, Razz wasn't keeping that subdued. "y'know i think that's kind of...speciest? typist? some kind of -ist i think but i mean they wouldn't be fire types if they weren't hot tempered wouldn't they?" kazimir was suddenly assaulted by his own marowak who hit him in the knee with their bone and ironically hit his funny bone causing him to giggle. "ok ok. i deserve that one. so uh, what are we gonna do with this one?" he asked as he jutted a finger at the restrained marowak before squatting down before it to get a glare from it.

while from the looks of it these ranger types would probably hold the poor thing for maybe a day or two kaz couldn't help but feel sorry for not just this little guy but for the other marowak and even uhane due to their performance being disrupted like that all of a sudden. "hey why don't you apologize for all the trouble you were causing huh little guy? you did kinda ruin things for your friends so i bet they ain't too happy about that y'know." the marowak's glare turned away from kaz and he twiddled his little thumbs before letting out what sounded like to be an apologetic cry.

Kaida...hadn't actually heard an insult towards fire-types before, nothing that wasnt vaguely helpful to remember, like their general ability to cause forest fires. The words, however, sounded too similar to what she had heard directed at her own partner, the poisonous Ekans who she heard countless "observations" of how "evil" and "frightening" they were. Thus, when she heard Freya and Loki both squawk at the words, she couldn't hold her tongue. "And I suppose it's impossible to train a playing Pokemon to keep such play from interrupting the public." Like an afterthought, her jaws slammed shut at the words, hardly believing she had snapped back like that. What am I doing!? [break][break]

She didn't consider herself an expert in negotiations, so she backed off as the two Pokemon made their apologies, waiting until it was over before stepping forward, waving Freya and Loki behind her. "You'll have to try again next time." Unfortunately, it was a little much to ask this particular Marowak to participate in the dance today, she couldn't even be sure if the dance could even be allowed in its entirety. Still, she wasn't going to be the one to deny the Pokemon to ever participate, "Where's your trainer? I need to make sure you'll be fine next time you do this." Rehabilitation wasn't something Kaida usually participated in, but she would think the Rangers could help in anger management. [break][break]

"Thank you for your help, they could have been hurt if yours didn't help out." Kaida directed at Kazimir, still with little idea who he was but glad to have help.

"And that's part of the problem sometimes," was the Ranger's simple response, trying to emphasize the 'sometimes' a bit to make it clear he didn't always think this at least, especially since he was appreciative to the man attempting to get the trouble maker to apologize as well. He may have relaxed a tad then but the sudden squawking at him from the two lizard pokemon just brought his nerves back up again. Instinct made him grab at a pokeball but he was quick to stop himself, especially now as the woman who had stopped the fire dancer begun to snap at him.[break][break]

Anger wasn't his normal reaction but with the long day he's had and a source of so much trauma in his life near him he couldn't help but just snap back, "There is a difference between simple interruption and attacking with violence over something minor" though as quick as the fire was there it was gone as Razz realized what he's done, all he could do was step back and curse at himself internally. While interacting with people wasn't his strong point he was usually better at holding himself back. "Sorry.... sorry," he attempted to apologize quickly but already in the back of his head he felt the damage was done and this was going to bite him in the ass somehow. [break][break]

Before his trainer snapped Meowstic seemed in a better mode after his own apology and also to hear it from the Marowak as well. All seemed like it'd go well at least until the lady snapped and then hearing his trainer snap as well which really seemed to worry him as Salem pounced up onto his shoulder patting him as if trying to reassure that things would be fine.

kazimir shot a glance between the two rangers as he sensed some kind of tension going on, most of it was coming off the guy as he seemed as hot tempted as this marowak. speaking of marowak the stray tugged on kazimir's shirt before pointing at his belt of pokeballs and swaying his head from side to side. it took a moment for kazimir to understand the context of what it was saying with his own doing the same before he looked up to the recently famous kaida with his hand raised to show that he was interjecting and saying something.

"uh yeah i don't think this or any of the other marowak have trainers. heck i don't think i ever saw any when i stopped by. i think these guys are just strays who decided to hold a dance. right?" he turned to uhane for confirmation of his theory and when the marowak nodded in agreement kaz fel a bit of relief in his chest before turning back to the rangers.

disicpling a trainer for their pokemon having bad behavior was one thing but what id they do about strays just passing through? yeah this one caused a bit of a disturbance but no one got really hurt so the punishment shouldn't be too bad? "so what do rangers do about wild pokemon like this then? do you guys just shoo them out of the city?"

She wanted to snap and spit, only kept at bay by the sheer amount of swirling anxiety in her chest, she couldn't snap, not in front of everyone. Thankfully, she was given sufficient distraction to turn away, take a deep breath, and focus. The Marowak was her only concern right now, she had to do good by it, to keep this incident from happening again. Firstly, no trainer. [break][break]

"Then that makes it easier, I can treat it like a wild Pokemon." No problems about taking it away from its trainer, and no deeply seated training that would make any management difficult. "I'm not going to...er...shoo it anywhere, but I'm not just letting it go." She took a step close to the Marowak, her words binding and stern, "Rehabilitation is a task Rangers do, so I will be taking it with me, it can rejoin its friends after we make sure it won't do it again." There was no permanent damage done, and the Marowak hadn't actually harmed anybody, chasing it out of the city would simply separate it from its friends for no reason. [break][break]

Looking mighty embarrassed, the Marowak still obediently stuck near, ready to follow Kaida to this dreaded "Rehabilitation". "Is there any complaints, no?" Kaida piped up briefly, already turning to leave with her charge in tow. All in all, trouble that didn't cause any harm was a good day in her book.

Razz was thankful the other didn't seem to want to continue this, as he sure as hell didn't. Though he was sure it was the Marowak to thank for that as it seemed to confirm with the blond man about not having a trainer. Then asking what rangers did for pokemon like them which Razz was confused at first as he didn't think rangers did anything with them outside remove them from the situation though it seemed the woman knew something else. Oh... she was a ranger shit. He really hoped he wouldn't have to work with her later, this would be awkward. Even more so he was going to have to check on this 'rehabilitation.' He hasn't been with the Rangers long enough to know every procedure so hearing this was new for him. [break][break]

A large part of him wanted to speak up and argue that it didn't need to be taken away from it's friends for this. He opened his mouth to speak but was quick to close it again, feeling as he had messed up enough tonight. Besides if she were a ranger she most likely out ranked him and that conditioning of listen to a superior was still very much there in the back of his head. So he just let it be and evened seemed to put his hand up at Salem who seemed to want to protest as well. [break][break]

For now all he could do it turn to the blond guy once more, "Look I'm sorry about this one's interruption of your friend's 'Away Dance Night,' or whatever this was called," he started gesturing to Salem while looking toward the other's Marowak. He may dislike fire types but not to where he would intentionally get in their way, "I'll be in city for a few days so if there is a way we could make it up to you feel free to bug," he offered wanting in some way to make it up to the other. Until then though he was done for the night.
