Kama landed heavily, a grunt following as she glared up as the Talonflame. It had darted away at lightning speed, the wind itself seemingly favoring it over the unfortunate bug.

Her arms visibly blurred before two booms echoed in the arena, walls of wind barreling towards Alpha while challenging the breeze beneath his wings.

"Wait!" Doug called out, jogging up to the other man. "Let me help with that— I'm responsible for the damages, after all."

His hand glowed a pink hue as he smiled at the man and his bewear, healing scales floating off his palm.

On the arena, an exhausted Kama's shoulders sagged as she looked at them, her head cocking slightly. Again, she had lost control and create far more serious injuries than Doug desired.

This was too hard.

He wouldn't find any injuries on him, but he was wearing a medic's scrubs.

"Thank you kindly." He said, perhaps mistaking the other's words for a kindness.

For her part, the Scyther examined her opponent wearily. A flying-fire type... of all the unfortunate match ups—

"Don't get discouraged, Kama!" Doug called out after a moment cheerily. "Just get in there and have some fun, yeah?"

Deep end it is.

The Scyther launched forth, rushing across the battlefield before suddenly leaping in a somersault's arch, attempting to goomba stomp her avian opponent.

He arrived at the stadium in style— by which he meant late.

"Sorry, sorry! Was in the ER!" He shouted as he hurried to his side of the field, followed lazily by a Scyther. "Hoooh! Uuuh, I'm John, nice to meet'cha. Ready?"

His Scyther stepped forth to his side of the field, nodding at her opponent.

Kama was like a shark that smelt blood in the water.

The counter attack came, yet another power ice punch landing onto her arm as she raised it for a block, freezing her limb solid.

But she remained steadfast despite the freezing pain, her eyes gaining a crimson glow as an aura surged around her. Her scythes glowed crimson, overflowing with infinity energy as a storm began to rage around them— before she launched high into the sky, blurrying out of view before coming back down into the arena like a missile.

'ello, Eva Morales, luka chêne, Elisabeth Fiorelli

He can't be assed to give chase— the conflict is winding down and he's not going to be the one to wind it back up.

He u-turns on the wall of branches and thorns, marching towards Eva Morales and luka chêne instead. Kneeling before the doctor, he feels the familiar presence of Tapu Lele draw near.

Elisabeth Fiorelli had taken all of her toys when she left, it seemed.

"Watch my back." He says simply, hovering his glowing hand over Eva before letting the healing scales drift down upon Rayquaza's avatar.

Once he was done with his little procedure, he nodded at the major and the ranger before standing up himself, throwing his gaze around the place tiredly.

What a shit show it had become, the moment the mutual enemy was out of the picture.

"They're gonna play us like a darn fiddle." He muttered.

They came enmasse when anything that could even remotely turn the tides of conflict reared in its head, joined hands when things got too big, and then immediately tried to backstab one another as soon as the situation became even remotely more manageable.

They were so predictable it wouldn't have surprised him if their eternal back and forth was entirely engineered.

Bounded Potential

Once upon a time, in a war torn land.

A young boy sat on a hill overlooking Pewter town, his eyes on the far, far horizon. Ignoring the other man on the cliff.

The young man stood behind him, his eyes on the boy's straw hat.

"How's the rifle feel?"

"It's Heavy."

"Figured."

"Go away already, ya surrender-mankey."

The rifle had always been too much for him. Then and now, it rested in his hands awkwardly, the callouses in his palms in all the wrong places.

The clumsy way he held the rifle spoke volumes; of the fire burning within the boy's stomach. Of the ignorance of how much destruction the weapon could bring about.

Eager to take back as much as had been taken from him. From his family, from his friends, his neighbors and his fellow countrymen.

"They ain't coming back. Not today."

"What do you know, draft dodger?"

"Snrk."

"Something funny?"

"Your face."

"Hrrrgh."

Overflowing with national pride and an over-eagerness to serve his country. How cute.

He had been lucky to be too young during the first draft. It would not last, though.

He would still be in Kanto during the second one, when the region began to run out of adult men to throw at the meat grinder.

"Screw you too. Your hat sucks."

"..." He thumbed the brim of his hat self-consciously. "Ad hominem."

Cheeky brat.

He opened his mouth, as if to fire back, before slowly shutting it closed, merely staring at the boy's straw hat once again. A small badged had been pinned to it.

"... It's mine." They boy said bluntly, reaching for the brim of his own hat. "You can't have it."

"... I know." Neither can you. "... It's getting late."

Grabbing his boxy briefcase, he began to march down the hill.

"What are you up to now?"

"I ain't just a draft dodger. I'm a medic, too. So... I'm gonna go medic stuff up in town."

"... why are you here? The frontline's hundred of miles away!"

"It is. But I landed here. So I'll do my best to help everyone here."

"...?"

"See ya later, kid. Don't be too shocked when it happens."

"... the hell's up with that guy...?"

Doug himself was quite alarmed after seeing the seeming extent of Syah's injuries, rushing forward nervously after returning Kama to her pokeball.

Usually she got her due praise for winning a match, but this time, she might need some chastisement.

"Thanks Eva... Not sure I deserve the praise this time, though. Is Syah okay? Need any help?" He asked, raising his hand to let the scales show.

Letting a pokemon battle get to this was a worthy of reproach at the very least... The many weapons Hoenn had acquired over the years were effective, but they made the already fairly dangerous pokemon battles a step too close to lethal.

Vs Kazimir Wynter

Against all odds— it worked, the sheer, raw power in Domon's muscles enough to stop even the dynamaxed Kama's attack in its tracks.

Unfortunately, Kama had not one, but two scythes.

Were one was stopped, the other came barreling in like the reaper's sickle.

"Hey man! You were awesome out there!" Doug said cheerfully as he jogged up to Kazimir, waving his hand at him as he reached the the end of the battlefield.

On the other side still, Kama had sprawled out on the grassy battlefield, contented with her close shave of a victory.

At those words, Doug can only laugh.

Kama's repelled by the other's empowered blow, feeling the attack ring through her limbs.

Seeing their opponent activate the terastal phenomena, Doug lifted his arm in the air, the crystal in his hand activating.

Kama blurred out of sight as she launched high in the air, before coming down unto the arena like a missile, destroying the battlefield.

A lesson learned is swiftly unlearned after she lands a hit, her eyes narrowing as her opponent lumbers towards her.

That was the only ranged option in her arsenal, and the bear pretty much shrugged it off... Whatever, Kama was, if nothing else, all too willing to get back into a close fight.

As the Bewear unleashed its power, she surged forward whilst trying to duck under the blow, swinging at the same time.

Kama's giant form shuddered under the blow.

But she did not fall, though.

Her foot came down onto the ground firmly, the earth cracking beneath her weight as she raised a scythe high in the air before bringing it down unto the arena with a roar.
