The woman's teeth chatter together as she wraps herself up in her tiny shawl. Long, manicured fingernails cling desperately to the soaked fabric despite finding it provides no warmth. Her makeup runs, casting her pale face into a ghastly expression. She looks as though she's been crying and possibly risen from the dead, and she moves past the man to hover by the fireplace.[break][break]

Fortunately, when the Chansey offers her the second blanket, she takes it rather than react with venom and negativity. She wraps it around herself and shudders. [break][break]

"Your chipper attitude is nauseating."[break][break]

With the back of her thumb, she swipes the streaky mascara from beneath her eyes, though it hardly helps. [break][break]

"Here, have your jacket back. It's soaking wet."[break][break]

She holds it out to him half-heartedly before glancing past him to take in the room. [break][break]

Sabine cradles the glass in her hand, idly swirling it as she stares out over the ocean. It's breeze carries her thoughts away, but she tilts her cheek back to the present as a warm hand trails along her exposed back. Lulu's hand settles against her navel, and the path it had chosen left behind raised skin and anticipation.[break][break]

"Mmm.."[break][break]

Her approval is a brief note as she accepts the kiss to her neck. But Lulu's presence is constantly drifting, constantly changing, and as easily as she had stepped into her space she steps away. Sabine shifts her weight to watch her, mesmerized by fingertips along her spine that beg her to give chase.[break][break]

Sabine had never been the kind to pursue, but with Lulu things had changed. With Lulu it was like a carefuly crafted and unexplainable dance. The woman's finger curls to beckon her into the pool, and Sabine finds herself setting aside her pride to do as she is asked.[break][break]

Her own glass is set along the edge of the pool the ting of glass against the stone surface a soft ting. Sabine's smile is dangerous, and although she is the one stepping into the depths and taking her hand, she can't help but feel like she is still, in some capacity, in control. Ignorance is bliss, perhaps.[break][break]

Lulu extends a hand and Sabine places her hand deliberately into it, allowing the woman to pull her under.[break][break]

Was it over the top to assume that Lulu Flint might appreciate a piece of art with her face on it? Probably, but if hse didn't appreciate it, mother probably would.[break][break]

She wouldn't, but Sabine would send it to her anyway. There was a very good chance that she, herself, wouldn't like the art the man she'd hired would create. She was a fickle thing, after all, with an expectation so high not even she could reach it.[break][break]

Countless attempts to capture her likeness perfectly were covered in cloth and tucked aside. Hiring Xander Belmont had been a last ditch effort that worked both in her benefit but also to potentially hire another professional artistic talent for her business. Xander showed excellent skills, but now it was time to see how well he worked under pressure.[break][break]

Unfortunately, he wasn't off to a great start. [break][break]

Green eyes shift to the clock on the wall. Fives minutes late and she already had half a mind to turn him away. In fact, her assistant is already by the front door prepared to send him packing. The young man's mouth opens to greet Xander and deliver the bad news when Sabine brushes past him to stare daggers at the redheaded young man.[break][break]

"A pity that that was the best excuse you could come up with with the five minutes you gave yourself in being late."[break][break]

With a flick of her wrist, she ushers him to follow her to the back. Upon opening the door to her personal gallery of art and supplies, he would see that she is already prepared. Her beloved male Pyroar, gold and crimson in mane, lies regally across the display. He would evidently be a part of the portrait.[break][break]

It is the promise of an angel that draws her to the shore. All it had taken was one glimpse and she had been beckoned off the beaten path. Golden curls against the endless ocean, they whisper to her with desire, with temptation. She isn't sure what had drawn her to wander across this woman's path but she doesn't turn away now.[break][break]

The moon is reflected in her silver gaze and she is captivated by them. But clarity comes to her in the form of the bottle offered to her. Sabine's attention shifts between the woman to the bobbing speed boat. It is too far out to be easily retrieved and it is then that she decides to remain. Though she had never been anything akin to a selfless person, there is something about this woman with the sea spray in her hair and the bottle in her hand that encourages her to stay.[break][break]

So she takes the bottle, fingers brushing hers.[break][break]

Lulu's admission and even the truth she spills do not bring surprise to the woman's face. Rather, she looks at her with quiet acceptance. Perhaps she had already known, and to be told the truth was nothing more than another realization how close the two had become. While she hadn't known what, exactly, Lulu's real name was, it wasn't a surprise that it had been kept hidden. The woman was a mystery, one that made her think, made her draw breath with excitement and anticipation.[break][break]

She watches after her as she uncorks the wine. Though Sabine's attention has lingered not on her tattoos, not on the tall glasses in her hand, not on the bottle of wine as it is poured, but on the expression on Lulu's face. Her lips move to grant her permission, but Sabine's hunger is greater than she might realize.[break][break]

"Then I shall call you mine."[break][break]

The glass is offered to her and she takes it, and the two are connected by the brush of fingertips between a glass stem of red.[break][break]

She takes her time, savouring every touch, every glimpse, every bite.[break][break]

Exposed skin and quiet breaths encourage her forward. The removal of one piece of Lulu's clothing becomes another, and another, and she revels in the work of art before her a moment longer before they both slip into something a little more comfortable.[break][break]

Or perhaps less comfortable but more appealing. Smooth as silk, Sabine's fingers lace through Lulu's, thumb brushing against the woman's skin, delicate and loving in its own right. And when they inevitably part with the words 'hold on', Sabine watches after the object of her affection with a satisfied smile. It doesn't take her long to return bearing wine.[break][break]

Their united, delicate footfalls bring them to the roof. It manages to catch Sabine by surprise, though she is, admittedly disappointed by the lack of visual flair. But the area had potential and it was calming, peaceful, private. It was perfect.[break][break]

"Mmm.. your own little slice of heaven, Lulu. I like it."[break][break]

But rather than indulge in the scenery, Sabine makes a point to eliminate the space between them. One by one she takes the towels, the wine bottles, the wine glasses off of her to set on a table right next to them. Every time she does, her fingers brush skin. She traces her fingertips along the woman's arms, past her fingertips, to curl them in on each other. She lifts Lulu's hand to her lips, pressing delicate, lingering kisses against her knuckles.[break][break]

Sabine had never run from anything in her entire life, so when the Houndoom jumps to action in an attempt to separate them she is oblivious. She is so completely wrapped up in the woman at her fingertips, so absorbed in merely existing in her attention and her attraction that the protectiveness, the anxiety, doesn't faze her. It has no power here.[break][break]

But she finds a balance between giving in entirely and pressuring Lulu for more. She doesn't initiate, merely watches and responds. Feet skirt the bare floor, cold to the touch and yet it does nothing but add to the experience. The two women, swathed in darkness and mystery, barely capable of keeping their hands off of each other once they had begun.[break][break]

In the dark, lips brush, each touch is tantalizing-- and then the light turns on and Sabine's emerald gaze sweeps the length of the room.[break][break]

Her lips curl into satisfied smiles with every light touch. They part, emitting a soft sigh, as fingers slip past her barrier of clothing with the intention to lift, to remove. She blinks slowly, tilting her cheek to face the woman, curiosity and thinly veiled desire glinting in a sharpened gaze.[break][break]

Sabine can see the gears shifting behind her eyes. The woman is an intricate, complex series of cogs and wheels working together at a pace that she can't possibly keep up with. And yet it intrigues her, excites her beyond reason. The woman watches her carefully as Lulu puts the pieces together she'd been offered.[break][break]

"Have there been any records of avatars connections being severed?"[break][break]

There is a dangerous note to her question. From what she can gather from the doom and gloom of Lulu's explanation, Fernando's strongest pawn is his connection to the legendary Pokemon by his side. Whatever pull he had in the government and in business connections was an afterthought. Her parents royal pull had taken down countless, insignificant organizations and money pits in the past.[break][break]

But a bond with a God? That was a new one.[break][break]

Sabine's attention is severed from talks of sabotage and coup detat to the feeling of her hair being brushed aside. It elicits a sharp intake of breath, followed immediately by Sabine's piercing gaze wrapped up in Lulu's.[break][break]

Lips part partially in anticipation and partially as a result of satisfied surprise when Lulu breathes words against her lips.[break][break]

"Good."[break][break]

Sabine slides her hand against the small of Lulu's back, tugging her closer with an assertiveness that spells her intent. She moves forward to break the bond between the simple touches of skin on skin, tilting her nose to brush the woman's cheek as her own lips line up to capture the queen.[break][break]

There is a wicked smile pressed now to Lulu's lips, though not unfamiliar.[break][break]

It wasn't love that Sabine felt, but something adjacent. When she looked at Lulu, jealousy bubbled to the surface with more ferocity than anticipated. She had never been the type to keep her attention in one place for too long, but Lulu was different. She was a challenge, a puzzle with many different results dependent on the path she took. Like a maze, but far more complicated. She was a mystery, and Sabine was far more curious than anyone gave her credit for. More intelligent, too.[break][break]

And it was because of this that she stood across from Lulu now to push her. She wanted answers but all she was getting was more questions. Her no, while firm, is not convincing. She knows when she's being lied to, because she herself was so damn good at the game, herself. And yet.. [break][break]

Her eyes narrow, however, curosity and intrigue lighting up behind her eyes. Lulu goes into detail about the man, and Sabine is impressed to find that she wasn't aware of nearly any of this. Granted, Galarian hierarchy paid little mind to much else aside from their own concerns, but she had heard nothing of this calibre from Remiel Calcifet.[break][break]

Or perhaps she had, and she simply hadn't cared to listen.[break][break]

"He sounds like an asset, not necessarily a threat. Hmm.."[break][break]

They weren't concerned- they were interested. She could taste the temptation as strong as the coffee cooling in her mug. Rocket needed him, likely. Needed his connections, his power, his influence. He was a concern because he was bigger than they were. If he didn't agree with their views, Rocket could easily be crushed beneath his thumb.[break][break]

"But people like him, businessmen with the world at their fingertips- they're only as powerful as you allow them to be. Take away their connections, the people they need, their assets.. and they're nothing."[break][break]

Sabine seems momentarily lost in thought but she is too keen on details that she inevitable notices Lulu disallowing a habit. The drawer closes and the woman instead turns to approach her. Coffee abandoned and Sabine's knuckles brushed with the flat of her thumb. It prompts a soft sigh that could have been surprise, and Sabine's attention lifts from Lulu's hand-- no, it had never left her face, even despite her train of thought having been lost.[break][break]

"Mmm..."[break][break]

Satisfaction curls the edges of her perfect lips into a smile. She laces her fingers through the woman's, rearranging her hesitant touch to be more permanent. [break][break]

When Lulu pulls away, Sabine's hand lingers a moment, suspended in the air. She doesn't know what to do or what else to say. She's avoiding, denying the issue, trying to convince her that nothing was wrong. But Sabine wasn't an idiot, and neither was the woman's Houndoom. [break][break]

Suspicion lights up in Sabine's emerald gaze at the mention of Fernando Silph. She had heard the man's name before, known about his heritage and his business. Why he was so interesting that it prompted Lulu to investigate him, however, eluded her. He was just another uninteresting celebrity, a name that brought a raised eyebrow and nothing more.[break][break]

"So you were with him, then? Blew me off for a warmer bed?"[break][break]

There was jealousy there, but it was guarded. She had no reason to be upset, as Sabine hadn't exactly been exclusive to the woman either - and she'd been up front about it. As conniving as she was, she wasn't the type to be outright dishonest. Not regarding her sex life, anyway. There was nothing to be gained by lying.[break][break]

"And what exactly did you find? A trophy room of stellar business deals? He's a businessman, Lulu, I don't think he's someone Rocke is too concerned about."[break][break]

At the very least, he was of no interest to Sabine. But she wasn't exactly in deep with Rocket in the same sense Lulu was. She was a businesswoman and an investor funding the organization for her own financial benefit. Investigating people wasn't her job, so she didn't care.[break][break]

Sabine's lips purse, unconvinced and unimpressed. When Lulu approaches and the Houndoom growls and whines, Sabine shifts her weight uncomfortably, glancing from the beast to the woman. And when she does, and Lulu looks down, Sabine catches a glimpse of the bruise previously hidden behind her dark hair.[break][break]

It takes her breath away, concern replacing her earlier anger. Lulu moves on to the coffee machine and it is the woman's apology followed by her humility that pushes Sabine to pursue the discomfort in her belly. Something was wrong, was different.[break][break]

"Lulu, look at me."[break][break]

And without waiting for her to turn around, Sabine moves to close the distance and brush hair from the woman's cheek. Her thumb brushes bruised skin delicately and she sucks in a breath as she studies Lulu's face.[break][break]

"Where were you? You're hurt, you're on edge, you won't look me in the eye. Something happened, didn't it?"[break][break]
