Elinor noticed the Flygon approaching, For a moment she wasn’t certain it was the right person, but then as Ever came closer she realized it was.

She raised a hand in a greeting wave of her own. “Yeah I believe you are right.” Elinor remarked as well. She certainly couldn’t remember any other less-dire times.

But with the pleasantries out of the way they could focus on why they were here. “Before we begin. Were there any specific things you wanted to test or train against?” While she had brought pretty much all the Pokemon she had available for combat, she figured as trainers they would spend their time more productively if they targeted certain topics.

MISSION: SUPER-TRAINING
LOCATION: Verdanturf City

Elinor gave an approving nod at Becketts choice of Pokemon. An Alolan Ninetales was a fine choice, and the size of it made Elinor think of Josh Devlin and his entourage of riding Pokemon. For a moment she even pondered if Beckett was a ride-Pokemon enjoyer as well?

She pushed the thought aside, they had work to do. She gestured for all involved parties to follow as she lead them toward the crowd.

“Rangers coming through, make space!” Elinor loudly proclaimed. Few seemed to take notice as many had taken out phones or other devices to record the angry Voltorb. Luckily people started getting the hint to disperse when her Steelix approached pushing people aside as gently as the metal serpent could.

As the crowd lessened the problem became clearer. A gathering of Ten Voltorbs had come together, a few of them had already been knocked out by their own self destructs. The rest was sending zaps of electricity at those foolish enough to venture too close.

“Lix, create a safety perimeter.” The steel serpent nodded and immediately began to circle the gathered Voltorb claiming a large space for itself pushing onlookers further and further away until they left of their own accord, leaving Beckett and Elinor within the perimeter.

“Beckett we need to knock them out quickly before they feel forced to self destruct. Can you do that?”

Elinor surmised that a powerful ice-type attack should do the trick, since the Voltorb looked worn and weary already. Though weary they may be they still carried a fighting spirit in their eyes that were all aimed at Elinor, Beckett and their Pokemon.




MISSION: VOLTORB OBSTRUCTION
LOCATION: Mauville City

An eerie purple Aggron claw tore through the overgrown jungle scenery as Elinor and her Aggron made their way through the tropical jungles of the Ultra Crater.

Each steady step brought the pair forward toward their target. Or at least Elinor hoped so. But honestly in the denseness of this Jungle she wasn’t certain. Still, she pushed onward through the foliage leaving a trail of cuttings in her wake as she searched for more Ultra Beast to add to her collection.

Not for herself of course, but for the sake of the safety of her people, the people of Verdanturf. Definitely not for herself at all. (Nope, don’t even think that though Laurence Anderson)

PROMPT:
- 03 use the move, "slash, cross poison, night slash, psycho cut, shadow claw, aqua cutter, bitter blade, kowtow cleave, trailblaze, cut" or the ability, "sharpness" to cut through obstacles.

She was reaching the tail end of her inspection. Everything seemed to be as it should be. Quiet, peaceful, safe. For now.

And as she was about to turn around and head back to the Ranger Station in Verdanturf she heard the quiet painful neighing.

She set into a sprint and hurried over to the little creature that was calling for help. A Mudbray had stumbled and hurt one of its legs. Of course the poor creature was frightened. It did its best to throw mud at her with a MUD SPORT, but by now it was weak and she was quick.

“There there, don’t worry. I won’t hurt you.” It wasn’t before she placed a calming hand in the Mudbray’s differently-colored fur that it calmed down. With her free hand she retrieved a POTION from her Ranger satchel and applied the medical concoction to the wounded leg.

The Mudbray saw immediate relief and so with the equine Pokemon somewhat happy Elinor decided to offer it a Pokéball, hoping that it would decide to join her.

Elinor stood at one of the most secluded battle areas in the city. Clad in her Ranger Captains uniform there would be no doubt that she was here on business. The Verdanturf City Ranger preparations were going steadily forward. She didn’t quite feel safe enough, but safe was a feeling she knew would elude her until things returned to normal.

But city safety wasn’t the only thing that needed improvement. Ranger skills fighting or otherwise needed cultivation as well, and so given the quiet nature of Verdanturf she had sent an open invitation out to any Rangers who sought to polish their battle prowess through sparing.

And that was why she was standing here beneath the bright sunny sky awaiting the arrival of one such person.

Next Pokemon to bar her path for a moment was a pair of Krookodile. They were busy rolling around atop each other in a wrestling contest of strength, each one with jaws locked on the other. A territorial dispute perhaps?

Elinor didn’t know and since it didn’t seem like they had noticed her, she decided to move on. Letting them deal with that on their own. Though she did note the sighting down on her phone for later reporting.

Her first encounter in the Tunnel was a Mawille. It’s sweet and innocent appearance didn’t fool her. Though it tried to beckon her over to it. With a cutesy wave.

It certainly seemed calm even as she decided to continue on. Its lack of eagerness to fight was a good sign. It meant it didn’t feel desperate enough to take on prey that outclassed it.

At least so she hoped.

Elinor continued on, not keen on a Mawille capture, if she could avoid it.

“Excellent, and don’t worry. I’ll guide you if need be!” Elinor proclaimed with confidence in her voice as she retrieved a golden Ranger-Captain Armband from the hip bag she always carried. She had hoped she wouldn’t have to do any work today, but when duty called she would not let it go unanswered.

As she quickly fastened the armband around her right arm, she realized introductions were in order. “Oh, by the way. My name is Elinor, what is your name?”

“I’d suggest you take out whichever Pokémon you feel is up to the task before we get over there.” She had already looked in the direction and as expected people were already gathering, morbid curiosity compelling them to forgo the danger to sate itself.

Following her own advice she summoned quite the behemoth of a Steel serpent. The Steelix rising high, and for a moment threatening to create destruction as it would move. But then it began to float with the power of MAGNET RISE, and through it no longer threatened the safety of the local infrastructure.



MISSION: VOLTORB OBSTRUCTION
LOCATION: Mauville City

The reports coming in about unusual behavior from wild Pokemon worried her. She had already spoken with her trusted second in command Laurence Anderson but that didn’t put her mind at ease. While she was certain he was hard at work writing the report and such, she had to do something.

That something would today take the form of a routine inspection of Rusturf Tunnel a connecting point between Verdanturf and Route 116, and therefore a potential liability if Wild Pokemon or more ominous persona decided to make use of it for nefarious deeds.

She had never thought that bomb-basics would ever be something that she would have need off. But she had been proven wrong, and since Thomas was kind enough to offer her lessons, she wasn’t about to look a gift Rapidash in the mouth.

Still, the desert was his location of choice. Even with an attire fitting the occasion, layers upon layers of sun screen, shades and other means of protecting against the sun, she found herself struggling beneath the beating sun.

Luckily the sun wasn’t going to last forever or at least she reminded herself that as she approached her would-be instructor. The decommissioned Vehicles did catch her attention for a moment as she made her way to Thomas. But she figured Thomas would explain that in due time if it was needed.

“Hello there.” She’d greet him with a mix of excitement and enthusiasm in her voice alongside a small wave.
