Isaac’s indomitable spirit kept him from kneeling to the power of gravity itself. Impressive. Even Elinor hadn’t managed to do so, which was the reason for her finding protection atop her Metagross.

Isaac’s fighting words reminded her a bit of jayden cross whose words had carried a similar sentiment. But they were wrong. They were all wrong.

“Do you think it’s really that simple? Do you think we don’t work tirelessly to help the people of Hoenn?” She had long since lost track of how many hours she had spent cooped up in that office, working day in and day out on legislations against criminal activities, improvements to the educational system, and an ocean of other problems. Certainly at the detriment of her own health at times.

His words stung more than they ought to. She didn’t expect gratitude, but for all her efforts to be dismissed so readily, that hurt..

“I don’t think Team Rocket is full of monsters, but there are far too many!” Genuine frustration in her words “But do you have any idea how difficult it is to help and improve the livelihood of those less fortunate. Much less to safeguard the region from all those who wish harm upon it, when within its very own borders there is Team Rocket that feeds and grows by causing misery and calamity to the very people I try to protect.”

Frustration grew into anger as an image of Eris Halla flew through her mind as representation of what she tried to protect. She deserved a better region to live in.

And so the battle resumed.

Hammer arms met with the PROTECT sphere, breaking it paving the way for the ghastly Zoroark to come in and play foul. The Metagross threw Elinor out of the way, using its psychic powers to protect her from the continued extra gravity. But in doing so left itself wide open for the attack, taking heavy damages in the process.

Still, the damage was not enough to knock it out. And so, with Elinor somewhat safe it tried to send EXPANDING FORCE at the Zoroark. While Aggron attempted to SHADOW CLAW at the Mega Metagross whose body stood unyielding against the gravity.

Meanwhile Elinor would begin to dig through her pockets for the next possible thing that might help with the battle.

She gazed up into the sky of the Ultra Deep Sea. But she quickly regretted it. Paranoia was clearly not the only thing this realm was feeding, now she was hallucinating as well.

Flying Steelix. There was no way.

But then it approached her and it became all too real. Atop of it sat someone she did not recognize but who clearly recognized her.

The person offered her a drink, and for a moment she wondered if this was still a hallucination. But she grabbed the flask, and gently sniffed it before she looked toward the person and asked. “Thank you. What is it?”

She didn’t immediately sip. Drinking things from strangers wasn't exactly the safest thing to do.

“Uh oh.”

Aggron’s charge wasn’t going as expected. Three Mega Metagross somehow appeared. Either this guy was a fantastical trainer or reinforcements had arrived.

Typhlosion was hit with a cheap shot. Foul Play doing damage.

Aggron, too slow to dodge, took the damage as best it could, parrying with its arm.

Three Mega Metagross was not something they were winning against without going all out.

With a quick beam from her Pokéball, she retrieved Typhlosion. Sending out another in its place.

“The only ones who dragged anyone into this are you guys!” She replied to Isaac as she summoned her own Metagross by her side.

“Bel, protect.”

The Green sphere almost immediately enveloped the pair.

A bright light began to shine from a keystone worn as a necklace. The Aggron changed shape, grew bulkier, more tanky looking as it smiled.

Mega Aggron had taken the field. But that wasn’t the end. It felt the power welling within it. It felt Elinor’s intentions clear as day through the link they now shared. She wanted a Mega empowered Z-move.

“Gron. Divine Gravity.” A bit of a bombastic name, but what followed would surely live up to the name. For a short moment it would seem as if nothing happened, but for those sensitive to it a faint energy field expanding from Aggron could be felt.

And then it happened as if the very force of Hoenn’s gravity grew tenfold and bore down upon any within its field that did not protect themselves, whether it be the ground, tent, poor unfortunate souls, it mattered not.

But Elinor within her PROTECT bubble was safe.

Elinor hurried closer and closer through the cover of the Rock’s crashing down upon her victim.

But not long after, the sun grew blinding. The heat grew worse.

And then the bang that followed sent Elinor flying in duck and cover position in surprise, as she thought an attack fell upon them.

But then she realized she felt no pain nor did it seem like Eele did.

Must’ve been a scatter bang. But two can play at that game. She reminded herself.

Elinor retrieved a scatter bang of her own and threw it hoping to elicit a similar response.

“Eele, Thunderbolt.”

Electricity crackled for a moment around the Eelektross before the powerful burst of lightning would rain down upon their victims, at least if the Eelektross aimed correctly.

Isaac’s Pokemon was right. Typhlosion always double tapped.

The BITTER MALICE surprised him. So much so that he didn’t manage to fire the next attack. Luckily, its warm body saved it from the frostbite that would’ve taken to any weaker Pokémon.

By now Elinor had gotten out of the tent, another Pokéball in hand and something else, a small malleable water balloon-esque glob. She immediately saw two things, a Pokémon attacking her own and a person.

Not a person, a Rocket…

She summoned her next Pokemon, a fierce looking Aggron. It growled at the perceived threat.

“I want to be captured, alive.”

And with that she threw the thing she had in her other hand. The STICKY GLOB would fly quickly, but whether it would strike true was still up in the air.

The Aggron also went into motion, charging at Isaac, not using any attacks but intent on giving the poor fellow a ‘hug’

It took a short moment before Elinor realized what was heading her way.

But when she did, she jumped out of the way as quickly as her human legs allowed her.

She looked at the huge rock that had been thrown her way. Clearly the work of a Pokémon. For a short moment she considered perhaps it was a friendly warning shot fired by another League member thinking she came to attack…

But then the Paranoia pushed those thoughts away. This realm did not allow for such happenstance. No, this was malicious. This was an attack.

She might be tired, but she wasn’t about to let this go unpunished.

She popped her Pokéball open and an Eelektross jumped out. It looked agitated, ready for combat.

“Eele, return fire over there.” She gestured toward the outpost she hadn’t fully reached yet. She saw movements there now.

The Eelektross nodded. A shimmering aura covered the Eelektross for a moment before countless rocks shot into the air as a veritable ROCK SLIDE would rain down upon those who dared throw the first stone.

For all of Isaac’s efforts, for all of his Pokémon’s efforts. They could not hide. Perhaps if a lesser predator was looking. But not this particular Hisuian Typhlosion.

While it didn’t know what it was. It knew there was something within the rock. And with all the dangers it had seen and heard today. It was not going to take chances.

It growled as a fake sun appeared in the skies. The SUNNY DAY fed the flames that basked around its neck.

The fire Pokémon growled as flames began to flare in its mouth. Ready spew a rock melting ERUPTION at the suspicious rock, unless it revealed itself.

“What’s going on?” The sudden heat and growling had caught the attention of Elinor even as she had tried to rest inside the tent.

Elinor gave the young girl an understanding nod.

She had already figured the girl wouldn’t tell her anything, but perhaps she would’ve let something slip without realizing it.

She did not.

Realizing how much time had passed and how hard it would be on the young girl, she figured now was as good a time as any to offer her some respite.

“We won’t press you further then.” She gave Callan a look and then a quick nod toward the door. “Besides, I believe we’ve imposed ourselves upon you for far too long now.”

“If you need anything or want to chat, let us know.” And with that she would lead Callan and herself out, leaving Eris to rest.

The Mincinno tugged itself in Elinor’s arms as the fog rolled in and the ghosts started to appear.

Lars was quick to offer her safety, and well, she accepted his offer even if she was capable of protecting herself.

Elinor gazed upon the ghastly visage that appeared. A flicker of memories shoots through her, faint ones. She couldn’t even remember when she had last seen Lars’s mother among the living. It had probably been when she had still been young and innocent, if ever she had been such a thing.

But the sight did make her wonder. If a person’s ghost could appear here. Could a Pokémon’s soul do the same?

With that thought in mind she stayed quiet. The ghost clearly had something to say to Lars.




MISSION: INTO THE WILDS (Border)
LOCATION: The Border

She gave a mild nod but said no more. She didn’t want to talk about work.

Luckily Lars had plenty of other subjects to pick from, and he did so surprisingly quickly.

“Right…” She mumbled, looking at the coffee.

“We have decided to part ways.” She stated. “But Lars, before you decide to waltz over to his office and beat him, know that we both agreed to it.” She tried to put on a brave smile, but she was still hurting.

She had dared open her heart, and though it had ended amicably, the pain was still very much there alongside another thought. Perhaps she was doomed to be alone.

MISSION: Recruitment Act 3
LOCATION: Route 117

The hug was accepted.

And yet when she felt the cold skin, she felt a sense of worry, and perhaps even an urgency to bring the girl warmth.

But then the cry dragged along words that stabbed her in the heart, just like that day when Josh had revealed what had happened.

“I was not, I promise you. I want to help.” Elinor said. As she looked down at the girl with painful empathy in her eyes.

“I already know what happened. Trust me when I say, I did what I could to make sure he was punished as much as possible.”

And that was the truth, but Josh didn’t need to know that, for she had told him something else entirely.



MISSION: STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION
LOCATION: Shoal Cave

Elinor was not blind to the effects her question had caused.

“I understand.” Elinor spoke. She didn’t want to push, yet she knew she had to in some way as it seemed Callan wasn’t intent on actually doing anything. Because it sure seemed like he had arrived here with no purpose.

“But can you at least tell us, if that secret of yours is a secret you can’t tell us because you don’t trust us or because something bad will happen if you do.”
