Things went into motion. Not necessarily the way she wanted to, but it seemed the group was intent on not splitting up for one reason or another. Some might’ve said a wise choice.

Anyhow, she joined both men down on the ground, landing just as Guillermo was finding a surprise-hole. Alexei soon followed. But while both men were busy exploring the hole, she would in turn look at the distortion.

The winds swirling around were beginning to slow down. There probably weren’t long left on that.

The exit or entrance to the Ultra Sea made for a vital point of contention.

Elinor knew this.

And so she had joined the guards here alongside Josh Devlin. Pokémon at the ready. As they had taken formation around the portal. Unfortunately the place was waste, with little cover, but ample room for speedier fighters to take advantage of.

Clad in proper protective gear, she waited, restlessly even. She needed action, and she needed it now. She feared that the longer Rocket got to move around, the bigger their advantage would become.

Luckily a message suddenly popped through the comms. Sighting of Rocket movement heading their way had been confirmed, and from the sounds of it. They had some precious cargo.

Elinor came to a halt, Aggron did the same as it noticed the sudden stop from its trainer.

Lars’s words had pulled her out from what haze had clouded her vision of what they were supposed to do.

For a moment she felt awful for what she had done. But as her eyes fell upon her victim, she felt fear edging an angry blood frenzy on. Vision trembled for a moment, before being pulled to an approaching voice. A familiar voice. The familiar sensation was not pleasant.

He returned her words, and it stung. The sting annoyed her. She would not deign him with a debate this time.

But before she had a chance to reply or act a blaze of fire swept the floor forcing her and Aggron to dodge out of the wave, splitting away from her cousin. She sent a worried look his way, before turning the now anger to Jayden and his companion.

If she remembered correctly the Rocket that stood before her was rather adept at aerial combat. So she would stick to the ground.

“Bury them.”

With a loud roar the Aggron sent another wave of ROCK SLIDE toward the newly arrived Rockets.

The HYDRO PUMP missed, flying straight into and through the trunk of a nearby tree, the loud creaking of wood giving into pressure announced soon to be fall.

But a single Double Team wasn’t about to get the better of Swarmpert. It shared a quick look with the Clodsire, the latter giving a quick nod. And with that Swampert punched the ground sending a powerful devastating EARTHQUAKE throughout the battlefield.

Luckily Elinor was protected via her Solosis and its psychic powers. Still, she looked toward Josh making sure he wasn’t getting hit as collateral.

Done with the Stealth Rocks, Clodsire went into action, joining Swarmpert in summoning an EARTHQUAKE.

Cute. Cute wasn’t often a word used to describe Aggron.

But still, the goofy steel behemoth knew how to be gentle amidst all the nervous patients. While smaller cute Pokémon ran around winning the hearts of the patients Aggron was a bit more hesitant, when it moved about.

But that was only until a young boy saw Aggron walking around.

Before long the boy was poking, prodding and playing with the Steel tail belonging to Aggron. Aggron was eager to play along, tail wagging, trying to dodge the next poke, but ‘failing’ before gently letting the kid jump on and raise the boy a bit into the air.

When it came time for the boy to be jabbed by a needle, Aggron accompanied him, even poked him with its sharp claw, convincing the boy that if he could handle that, then a needle would be no issue at all!

Of course Elinor hovered nearby, making sure her Pokémon didn’t get too eager.

Once at a safe distance, Elinor would wait for Lars to join her.

She hoped he would. But she had an inkling that he would stubbornly try to do something dumb.

A sigh of relief escaped her as she saw Ro dragging its trainer along before unceremoniously dropping him on the floor.

“So, that could’ve gone better.” Elinor stated quite frankly.“With how little it wanted us in there, had been any other Pokémon I’d be inclined to think it was nesting.” She spoke, half in jest. Though for a moment she wasn't sure. She didn't even know if Legendary Pokémon reproduced.

But then she noticed the look on Lars’s face. It was a look of realization. She had an inkling suspicion that it wasn’t of the good variety.

LOCATION: SHOAL CAVE -> ARTICUNO'S LAIR

A smirk spread on her lips as Josh confidently made his claims.

“A pleasure to meet you, Raikiri.” She gave the mythical Pokémon a greeting smile. “You are getting closer and closer to Raikou, eh?” She almost teasingly jested at Josh.

However, they were here to do battle not to banter.

Josh showed off his squad. And she returned the favor.

The first to appear was a proud aggressive looking Salamence with a fancy almost glowing pattern, followed by the Steel Behemoth Aggron and its equally steely serpent friend Steelix. A Shiny Kommo-o followed not long after alongside a Clodsire and a Swampert. A powerful looking squad, though admittedly the Clodsire looked a bit derpy.

“Likewise!” Elinor proclaimed as she motioned for Clodsire and Swampert to take to the field. The Solosis by her side threw up a green barrier, ready to defend against the eminent destruction.

Both Pokémon did so enthusiastically.

“Go!”

And with that command both Pokémon sprung into action. A torrent of water burst forth from the Swampert’s mouth as the HYDRO PUMP lunged toward the Pyroar.

Meanwhile the Clodsire busied itself by spreading STEALTH ROCKS throughout the battlefield.

Ultra Deep Sea. She didn’t like it. But necessity demanded she was here.

Something called Seal Stones had gotten Team Rocket’s attention. And she wasn’t about to let them have it. She needed clues to its whereabouts, and for that she needed to catch someone who knew something.

And so she had taken to the waste cave-like world. For once clad in proper lightweight protective gear, by demand of her head of security.

She was currently chasing down what appeared to be a singular Rocket Grunt, lost and afraid. From time to time she would see glimpses of his fearful gaze as he confirmed that she was still chasing him. The Koffing floated by his side as fast as it could, but it was lacking behind.

A desperate command escaped from the grunt, quickly followed by a huge SMOKESCREEN from the koffing.

“Oh no you don’t!” She growled

With a quick pop her Aggron was released from her Pokéball. “Don’t let them escape. Rock Slide!”

With a loud roar countless rocks, both large and small were fired with incredible force through the smoke. Quickly followed by a loud crack and a bone chilling shriek.

The smoke dissipated.

The Rocket was on the floor, clutching a clearly broken leg as he howled in pain. His Koffing hovering protectively above him as Council-woman and monstrous-steel behemoth walked toward them.

“Do not resist.” She commanded.

While the fight was clearly already over, a purply ghastly aura coated Aggron's claws. As both trainer and Pokémon approached with clear harmful intent.

A tremble began in her body, which quickly grew to a shiver. The cold was starting to bother her.

Somebody was watching her. She could feel it. She figured it was Articuno.

No sooner had the thought occurred to her, did the ear shattering screeching noise emerge into the Icy nest.

Lars called for her to get behind him. And she did. This was no time for recklessness. But it didn’t take long before even that wasn’t enough, as he began to usher her out of there. Seeing how the frozen energies began to freeze the place, she was not about to go against his wishes.

Elinor ran for her life. Her Pokémon followed. As they exited the nest once more.

She heard the yelled words from Lars, and it sure sounded like he didn’t exactly get an answer.

She had hoped it had all been a part of her imagination. But as the little figure came into view, her hopes were dashed as she stood before Eris, crying.

It felt like a dagger had been jabbed right into her heart and then tugged around.

Before she could even say a single word, Eris had already spilled three sentences. Dumbfounded for a moment Elinor could do naught but pull down her mask and say “Hey, hey it’s alright. I am here. Everything is going to be alright.” as she extends her arms offering Eris a hug.



MISSION: STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION
LOCATION: Shoal Cave

Her feelings for Josh were a mixed bag. At times he felt like an annoying little brother, too eager to throw himself head first into dangers, and at other times she saw him trying like her to be a beacon of hope for the people of Hoenn.

For all of his flaws she couldn’t help but feel grateful for his presence in Hoenn. And with that in mind she planted seeds of Gracidea in Route 117 in a grove near where she was about to do battle. She noticed someone else had been digging here recently. Perhaps Josh has been here before me?

With that thought in mind and a smile on her lips she would make her way to the field of battle. But only after having released a few Pokémon to patrol the area, instructing them to keep people as far away as possible.

After all, you never knew when a bumbling fool of a trainer would stumble onto their battlefield.

She reached the field of battle. A Solosis floating by her side, with the sole purpose of protecting her from the destructive attacks they would unleash today.

She gave Josh a greeting wave. Solosis gave the young man a greeting nod.

“I hope you are as ready as I am.” She sounded confident. “How do you wanna do this, single or double battle?”

They hadn’t discussed that. Her team would not change either way.

The whimpering voice of Eris was clear. Elinor tried to follow it as best she could, and it grew clearer with each passing step.

Unfortunately she couldn’t help but think the worst as she came closer. She had heard what Josh had done to her. And she had heard nothing since.

What if this is the Ghost of Eris?

While the notion was silly, the idea took root perhaps enough for even the dream-mist to react to.

“Eris, Eris?! It’s me, Elinor. I am not here to hurt you.”



MISSION: STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION
LOCATION: Shoal Cave

The Minccino began to gesture toward the mist as it grew large and larger.

“Is someone in there?”

The Minccino nodded.

Then Elinor heard the voice. A familiar voice, though it sounded surprisingly far away. She couldn’t believe it. It would be so unlikely that it seemed almost impossible.

But if someone was in danger, Elinor had a duty to go and save them, be it because of her Ranger status or position as Council member, she would throw herself in danger either way. She bent down letting the Minccino climb into her shoulder before taking on a mask, offering herself what little protection she could from the pink mist before she jumped headfirst into it.
