She was taken by welcome surprise as Callan asked his question.

With a warm and bright smile, she replied. “Yeah, I would love to.” She quickly closed down whatever she had been working on, before getting up from her chair.

For a moment she was about to leave with Callan, then she realized she had forgotten something. She quickly turned to the two Pokémon as she said. “Can’t leave you two here alone.”

And so she returned them to their Pokéballs before expectantly turning to Callan and musing. “Sooo, where did you want to go?”

She turned her attention from her Gardevoir and over to Chu-e, arms hanging by her side. Elinor’s eyes, like those of a Pyroar carefully watching its prey, followed as Chu-e raised his hand.

What followed next was quick, almost imperceptible. But she saw it. There was no mistaking it. Though it was thin, almost as if he tried to hide what it truly was, Elinor would still manage to recognize that shade of crystal, alongside the words he spoke previously it was all but confirmed.

Chu-e was an Avatar…



His soft admittance was deafened by her heavy breaths. Anger gripped her heart tightly. Her gaze grew hard, as her face contorted in anger. Teeth grinding against each other. Hands tightening into fists as her nails dug deeply into her palms.

“So YOU are its avatar…” She felt her temperature rising, her body trembling in the process.

“Why…” Without realizing it, she took a step forward. “Why…” And another step. “Why!” Elbow bent, right fist raised, had it not been for Gardevoir stepping in between the two, she would’ve let her fist fly. Camera be damned.

But Gardevoir stopped her trainer from doing something she would regret. She pushed Elinor back with gentle force creating space between her and Chu-e. And though Elinor knew Avatars held no more power over their patrons than she currently wielded over her Gardevoir, one singular question managed to escape from her.

“Why didn’t you stop it?”

Her eyes widened in surprise as the new character appeared on her screen. She’d picked the Route without much thought, and now she was offered the company of, if her memory served correctly, the big bad cointosser from Mt. Pyre.

Not sure I like people trying to profit from that event…

Elinor was not amused by the thought, but would pick OPTION NR 1: Heads. Curiosity got the better of her. She wanted to see where this was gonna go.

The amount of OTOME gaming Elinor had done by now was probably about to become an issue. How would she return to the world of the normies when the gaming fad was over? She probably wouldn’t be able to. These were all thoughts she had as she began on the newly released Dahlia-route.

And as the scene was set, Elinor could honestly say that she had never seen a more relatable depiction of Dahlia Goode. Honestly, beginning on this OTOME route made her wonder what the real commissioner was doing right now. Would she also be indulging in some light gaming?

Anyhow she tapped OPTION NR. 1: Shake her Gently.

And awaited the games response.

“Yeah, the interview is the easy part.” Elinor agreed.

And as Josh reminded her of the battle they were going to have, she was visibly pleased, not only with the reminder, but with the news of Aslan's prognosis. “Don’t worry I haven’t forgotten. Rest assured I can wait for as long as I need to. A proper recovery for Aslan is vital, no matter how long it takes.”

And the Absolite was important too, but you know, Aslan was a living breathing being, not a rock.

Anyhow, they finished their eating while watching the game go into overtime. And as Josh was paying his part, and Elinor was paying hers leaving a considerable tip in the process, Goldenrod managed to win the game.

A loud roar of excitement emerged as the fans, Josh included, began to celebrate. Elinor even joined in the celebration songs.

“Same, Same.” Elinor replied, taking a sip of her drink before she continued.

“As for resolutions? Hmmm.” She looked thoughtful. “Maybe to do better as a member of the Council?” She said, she hoped that unlike the usual resolutions at New Year, this one would last past January.

“But I suppose that’s a bit vague. How about you? Do you have any resolutions?”

She gave Matias an acknowledging nod. Even with his reputation, cruelty of that type didn’t seem to fit his image.

And then she listened to his explanation. “A wise choice. Honestly, I am embarrassed to admit that it took me far too long to realize that investing in a ranch would be a wise choice, so I’ve only recently come into possession of my own, and its operations are still being properly set up.”

Even with people frantically selling out during the Meteno-crisis. Moving the kind of money needed for such a purchase, and properly setting up operations still took far longer than Elinor had anticipated.

“I presume you and Eva Morales have people taking care of it when you aren’t around?” Elinor asked.

Meanwhile a curious Treecky snuck up to Elinor and the Kommo-o that had returned with the grass-monkey. Fearing that it might well be next, it prostrates itself before them, hoping to garner favor with these forces of nature.

The consumption of food was an afterthought as Josh spoke. The worries he held now that he had seen what Rocket and their Avatars was capable off was something she related to far too much. Unfortunately it was the reality they lived with, and there was nothing she could say or do that would hide that truth away from someone whose eyes had been opened to the truth.

Elinor gave him an acknowledging nod. “Yes, we must keep busy while we wait for a lead to appear.” She smirked. “But champion, eh? Well, I suppose I will have some proper competition then.” Josh wasn’t the only one aiming for the Champion rank.

And so she ate some more and watched the game played.

“A bonus football?” She had no idea what that meant, but she presumed it was something good.

While Elinor had yet to form a complete opinion on thalia black so far she seemed lovely enough. And with a surname rivaling her own to boot. Elinor would not be about to push her away any time soon.

And so she continued to converse.

“It’s treating me exactly as you’d expect.” She sighed, mild tones of boredom in her voice. “The Daily grind is rough but boring, with the occasional bout of excitement when you get to do something grand like this to work on.” She gestured towards the whole event.

While her personal part in this was small, she was not about to forego what little honor she could claim.

“How is the professional Swashbuckling industry treating you?” She politely asked.

But she pondered if there’d be time for the answer. Time was ticking on after all, the Event would soon come to an end and so their little group would have to go their separate ways unless either of the two had no plans of their own.

But that was neither here nor there. It would be a bridge that they would cross once they got there.

For someone who considered themselves Pokémon connoisseur, Elinor had not visited the Safari Zone as much as she ought to.

But this was about to change. With a Warden’s Ticket in hand did she waltz into the place and demanded to be given the finest of Safari Balls.

Before promptly being handed the same set as everyone and thrown into the wilds.

Oh boy howdy! Was she excited either way!

And so she found herself walking through the lush natural environment, waiting for any ol’ random Pokémon to jump her.

When Elinor woke up this morning, flying away from a literal Carpet-bombing was not what she thought she would be doing today.

But here she was.

The wings of the Hisuian Braviary beating frantically as waves of ESPER WING blasted through tree-tops. Altitude was the name of the game, it needed to get as much of it as possible as the Celesteela kill-squad flew toward them, spreading their white incendiary gas over the forest.

How’d they know it was incendiary? Simple, the moment the first bit of it touched one of the many jungle trees here, it burst into explosive flames, leaving naught but a charred tree-corpse in its wake. Elinor wasn’t about to see if Humans were exempt from that effect.

And so, here they were. Hisuian Braviary finally blasted its way through the thick tree tops. Emerging like a war torn flying beast of burden, Pokémon and trainer covered in leaves and branches. Elinor could only hope that her fellow members of the expedition were as quick to get into the air as she was. (Honestly she had no doubt they would be quicker)

But even in the air, they were not completely safe or so she thought. The Celesteela still came toward them, flying at full speed, but not changing the height at which they flew.

But in the air, Elinor could see what had angered Celesteela. In the distance the swirling mass of a SPACE-TIME DISTORTION announced its all too familiar presence.

But the question now was. Should they stop the Celesteela’s wanton destruction or simply let them pass?

As always Elinor was to be found in her office toiling away at the stacks of paperwork, endless emails.

Luckily she wasn’t alone. An Illumina Bagon sat in a comfortable chair, tablet in hand tapping away at some brightly colored Candy-Crush copy.

But it wasn’t the only one. Atop the chair a perky Chatterbox of a Chatot sat singing a rendition of one of Elinor’s many newfound shower songs (Thank’s Callan Young for opening her mind to new music) and yes it was using her voice. Of course, it would only be noticeable for anyone who entered the office.

Speaking off.

Callan entered the office finding Elinor mid-stretch in her office chair. Gray business suit stretched along accenting her form lightly. She finished her stretch as Callan asked his question.

“For once, I’ve got the afternoon off.” She beamed him a smile. “Do you have any meetings?” Perhaps this would be an opportunity for the two spend time together.
