Her fingers curl, digging deep into his shirt. A subtle tear of fabric can be heard as it gives from the weight of his upper body, “Where is he?!” she demands again, louder this time. A toned arm shakes, rattling his head in her frustration.

The captain’s body falls back to the deck with a loud thump when she lets go. He doesn’t know. She believes him. No one knows Kaito better than Lex. She believes the mobster wouldn’t be so reckless. Even if the captain did meet with Kaito, the location would be meaningless. Contact information? He wouldn’t let that slide. Kaito would find them when he was ready but . . .

Lex would find him first.

The hand on her shoulder doesn’t calm the storm. It does remind her that she’s not alone, “No. Kaito’s a dead man regardless . . . We’ll find him,” her gaze turns towards Killian, resolute in her revenge.

Electricity snaps and cracks. In a suddenburst of light, the energy disappears, letting the meteorite fall quite suddenly into her arms. Thank Arceus she was ready. Her knees buckle sightly beneath its weight. It’s quite dense and surprisingly heavy for its size. Lex grunts, adjusting beneath it before she lets out a sharp whistle.

The ghosts rush back to her. The Gengar disappears into its sphere while the Gardevoir hovers closely. A spectral hand rests on her shoulder. The other extends towards Killian, waiting for him to take it before they disappear in a flash of light, TELEPORTING back to their home in Lavaridge.

The direction the guard was in, of course. After the Rotom’s instructions, it doesn’t take long for the duo to find the lab in question. This has already taken too long. With each passing second, there is the chance of discovery and that meant failure. Lex didn’t fail. She also didn’t leave things up to chance. Sure, a MIST similar to the one earlier would give them cover, but with so many bodies in such a small space . . . resistance was likely.

A shadow races across the floor, melding with hers. For a moment, there’s a violent struggle between the Gengar and Shadow Gardevoir for dominance beneath her in the form of pulsing shadows, “Enough,” she snaps, studying the route to the meteorite.

The ring she wears from Killian pulses with a dark purple energy. The same energy swirls in the shadow beneath her. With a sharp motion of her hand, a Mega Gengar rises from the floor. As mist fills the room, Smoke lunged forward on strong arms, quickly followed by the Shadow Gardevoir. The duo engage with the scientists, firing off over-powered HYPNOSIS left and right, “We have to be quick,” she warns Killian, knowing Rotom will have to disable the energy for her to grab the stone. Once she has a hand on it, it’s time to leave. Lex plants a quick kiss on his lips before disappearing into the mist.

Lex rolls her eyes, clearly unamused by his lack of enthusiasm, “Fiiine, see you around, Roach,” she spins and wave a casual hand, walking back towards the battlefields for her next scheduled battle.

A sharp whistle sounds and the Liepard reluctantly looks towards Lex. It’s a beat before the feline actually obeys and slowly trots over to the redhead’s side. A pokeball sucks the Liepard back into it’s sphere. She saunters over towards Roach with a smile and sunscreen in hand, “So, about my prize,” she grins, handing him the sunscreen.

It’s a mean PLAY ROUGH, and the Liepard is not merciful. He hops away when he’s content with the damage, ears still pinned back. His tail flicks in the air expectantly. Another growl warns the Cubone to stay down. He stands between the pokemon and its weapon.

The bone thwacks the Liepard across the face, forcing his head to the side. It’s a slow, deep growl that rumbles through his throat as he slowly turns back towards the Cubone. Without warning the cat scream, lunging at the Cubone with another PLAY ROUGH filled with vicious swipes ad hisses.

The feline twitches its tail, watching expectantly and waiting for the Cubone to give up and stay down. It seems that the little pokemon has more fight in it than the Liepard was expecting. He frowns as it rushes and strikes its feet with another HEADBUTT. He stagger back from the force of the blow but retaliates quickly with a swipe of his sharp claws.

The series of events that follow are unexpected. Between Tyranitar getting crushed and Giglith getting thrown across the arena, it left just the giant feline and the Dragapult.

On the cusp of victory, Keres squares up against the ginormous opponent. The Dreepy settled on her fat head get ready. A surge of draconic energy swirls around the ghost. It filters into the Dreepy like gasoline into the tank of a car. It primes them, gets them ready for their debut. Keres fires them directly at the Meowth like torpedoes They find their mark, exploding against the chest of the feline and driving it backwards, causing it to fall and crash against the ground, unconscious.

Huh, that was unexpected.

Keres the Dragapult uses DRAGON DARTS

Well, the Gigantamax Meowth was unexpected. It grew taller and taller until eventually even the Tyranitar paled in comparison. Keres could see the disturbance from her phantom realm. The world around her is morphed, but recognizable. The sandstorm rages, but she floats through it like mist.

The Dragapult decides to aid the Tyranitar in its offensive against the large feline. When the hyper beam fades, Keres explodes forward from her hidden world, forcing a powerful burst of ghostly energy to knock the cat onto it’s butt, its slender body rocking to and fro from the light headedness the two attacks caused.

Lex raises her glass in turn, “Cheers,” the whiskey goes down easy, like it always does. The burn of the mediocre booze isn’t as pleasant, especially in this heat, but it does the job. She pushes the glass back towards the bartender along with some cash, “Good luck the rest of the tournament,” she gives Lulu a small smile before turning to leave for her next scheduled match.
