It seems the two potent attacks back to back didn’t knock out the owl. Balthazar grunts, frustrated. The bird is tougher than he thought. With a sigh he moves forward again to grab the Noctowl. This time, the HYPNOSIS is unexpected and the Electrivire finds himself caught in the lull of the psychic waves. He staggers for a moment, slowly falling back onto his rump. Heavy eyes try to remain focused on the Noctowl, but it proves too much. With a thud, the beast falls backwards in the sand, fast asleep.

Balthazar FALLS ASLEEP

Happiny squeals happily as the talons of the Aerodactyl grip her gently and stop her descent. Baby wiggles in excitement, eyes peering down at the Tyranitar below. It is probably time to take care of that nuisance.

Menhit purrs in agreement. Her drastically increased speed allows her to maneuver quickly to position herself just right. A metallic sheen glosses over her head just before her wings fold to the side. Her legs pull in, holding Baby close to her chest, A rush of wind tears past them as the nosedive send the duo rocketing downward towards the Tyranitar with IRON HEAD. Baby prepares to erect a PROTECT, expecting retaliation.

A toothy grin spreads across the Electrivire’s wide mouth. Satisfied with the effectiveness of his attack, he stalks forward towards the fallen owl. Dark eyes glare down at the motionless pokemon. It ROOSTS, attempting to regain the energy it needs to fly. Any other pokemon may have felt pity and let the Noctowl rest in peace but that’s not how Balthazar was trained. It still wanted to fight, therefore it needed to be eliminated. A large hand reaches down to grab the bird. The other hand clenches into a fist. Ice creeps over his knuckles before it juts forward and up as he lets go, a brutal attempt to uppercut the Noctowl.

Balthazar uses ICE PUNCH

They collide with the earth in an explosion of sand. A crater is all that’s left from the intense impact. After a moment, a lone figure emerges from the depth. Lex clenches her jaw in frustration. The shadow is far too short to be the Blaziken. It’s clear that it’s the Infernape. After a moment, nothing follows. Lex walks towards the pit and peers over the edge at the fainted Blaziken. Her lips pull into a sneer. Pathetic.

A light consumes the dual type, conceding the match to Greyson, “Excellent battle, I’m impressed,” she brushes a strand of hair aside while she grin at the man across from her, “Good luck with the rest of the tournament,” she turns to leave, eager to make her next appointment with some time to spare.

Lex to could hear the sweet song ring through the air. The melody meant for the Noivern did influence the trainer. She blinked, eyelids heavy as a yawn thretned to part her lips. It was the sight of the Noivern barreling towards the earth with Winter nosediving after it that kicked in enough adrenaline to snap her awake. Winter has no intention to rescue the Noivern form its fate, she simply wants to make sure it crashes into the sand as intended. Instead, a flash of light consumes it, leaving the Altaria chasing nothing but air. Her wings expand, catching her and pulling her back up.

Once the Noivern is returned, Lex finds herself surprised. She glances towards the other side of the field as Lulu’s voice rings out. Was that meant to be a compliment? Or simply a statement of fact?

Regardless, Lex returns the Altaria and replaced the sphere on her belt. After a moment of silence, she tilts her head, reaching for the one thing they have in common, “Drink?” she has a few minutes before her next battle.

This time, the SKY UPPDERCUT hits at a similar moment the Aerodactyl is forced to swerve around the dangerous stones that shoot up towards them. The weight of the Happiny leaving is enough to make the Aerodactyl falter, and a Stone Edge to make contact. The baby pokemon is thrust high into the air, a small pitiful cry proceeds a blast of ICY WIND it keep the Gliscor away while Mehit swoops up to retrieve her by grasping Baby gently in her claws.

Tyranitar took center stage, naturally. In its element, it welcomes the STEALTH ROCKS against its thick hide. The Dragpult grunts, eyes narrowing suspiciously at the slender stones that threaten to impale him. Not today! Keres is a ghost, and she intends to use that to her full advantage. Her figure flashes, melting way with the raging storm and into the phantom realm, where she’ll travel safely until she wishes to strike her blow.

In a desperate effort ot avoid being pummeled by the much larger pokemon, the small feline SCREECHES horribly to try and scare them off.

The BOUNCE reaches it’s peak. A subtle pause in the air doesn’t change the Blaziken’s strategy. His hold is tight, and although the MACH PUNCH strikes, their decent is met with a shift in the avian’s form. He attempts to position the Infernape below him, talon digging and clawing their way into the mammal’s brown fur. Gravity pulls and the goal is to slam the monkey into the sand.

The monkey’s hold is tight around the Blaziken. It would be fruitless to try and pry him off, his dexterity if greater than the bird’s. Instead, she wraps his arms around the Infernape’s body, holding him tight like in a bear hug (awwww cuuuute). They erupt in flames as the Blaziken BOUNCES off the ground and into the air with the Infernape in tow.

Light busts from the feathered opponent. The pink light of the beam baths the beach as it strikes down from the sky. It’s quicker than he is, and Balthazar is consumed by the Moonblast.

The Electrivire is left in a crater in the sand, yellow fur singed with the residual energy of the fairy-type attack. Yellow sparks crack across his limbs, rising to the antennae that twitch on his back. They too rise along with the intensity of the current. A loud crash and flash of light tears through the sky, a THUNDER aimed for the Noctowl.

The Altaria flares its wings, summoning the fae energy to drown the Noivern. The Dragon Pulse counters, but the fairy-type move is powerful, cutting through it like butter to keep the draconic energy from reaching the Humming Pokemon.

Pillowy wings beat against the air, a frustrated click of the Altaria’s beak snaps as eyes narrow, bearing down on the bat. Enough is enough. The dual type has something to prove. If playing dirty is what she needs to do, then she will. Winter grunts, clearing her throat to begin SINGing a sweet song. It rings through the air like a beautiful chorus, aiming to lull the Noivern to sleep so it falls from the sky.

The MACH PUNCH connects, forcefully ejecting the air out of his lungs and air sacs. A sharp, quick inhale brings it back as the he swallows the pain. His beak snaps together, a threatening display. The primate grips his arm, he yanks him forward. Flames ignite across his knees as he stand to full height, driving his knee up and at the Infernape’s abdomen.

At this close range, there’s not much chasing to do and Apollo doesn’t run. Especially not from a fight. After flames calm, he remains in place, meeting the Infernape’s CLOSE COMBAT with a series of quick blocks as his arms raise above his head and he curls into himself. Of course, it doesn’t save him from the potent fighting-type attack. Each strike leaves a sharp pain that resonated through his body. Despite the tough blows, he still feels light, stronger. The moment the Infernape lets up, even in the slightest, he takes the opportunity. It’s a lightning quick, swift motion. A knee buckles, lowering his body. Powerful legs drive him up, talons clenched into a fist with a strike aimed beneath the Infernape’s jaw.
