Lex is also impressed with the reaction time of the Metagross and very thankful Killian had the brains to bring them along. The redhead gripped Killian tighter as a Minior blasted right beside them. Shards of rock exploded from the center of the blast, bathing them in dust and pebbles. Metagross kept the larger pieces away with PSYCHIC.

Once Lex spotted the siblings in the distance she cracked open the pokeball. Gardevoir poured out of the sphere in an ooze of black mist. She appeared beside Lex, flying alongside the Metagross and phasing through boulders in her way, “Get ready to Teleport us!” she commanded. The Gardevoir noded in understanding, her ghostly fingers reached over to creep around her trainer’s shoulder.

She stands, crossing her arms over her chest.

Kaito sighed as he sits back down, “You’re always making things difficult,” there’s a sense of amusement in his voice, “I guess that’s half the fun with you, huh?” A sharp snap sent the Houndoom snarling, sharp teeth snapping at her heels close enough to graze the bare skin, “For fuck’s sake!” she gasped, jumping at the chair the Houndoom was herding her towards. She sat.

There was a significant silence as his eyes rolled over her slowly, “You’ve been keeping secrets from me,” he finally said, leaning back in his chair and extracting a file from the top drawer, “It seems your talents far exceed serving drinks,” he tapped the arm of his chair expectantly, watching her. She doesn’t move, only returns the glare with her own icy one, “Your work for Killian Decker has been impressive,” she stiffened at the mention of his name, Kaito noticed and smiled, “Killian’s a good friend, we have . . . mutual interests,” He stood to circle the desk, stopping in front of her. Her heart was racing at this point, what was he trying to get at? “I heard your relationship has been terminated,” in more than one way, “Lucky me to get you all to myself now,” An attempt to lift her chin to look at him was met with a swift slap that only momentarily diverted the hand before it struck out again with force.

Fingers curled into the flesh of her neck, squeezed, and pushed until both Lex and the chair were flat on their back on the ground with Kaito towering over them. She struggled before the low growl of the Houndoom reminded her of just how little power she had here, “Careful, Alexandra – I’m not Killian.”

She holds onto him tight as Metagross zooms through the destruction, leaving the League behind to deal with their own. A haunting memory of her last excursion is laid to rest when she’s certain they wouldn’t be pursuing them. There would be no one captured this time around. Injured? Absolutely. It was almost inevitable. She hopes Suzume Amemiya isn’t in as bad of shape as Rowan Wrynn was at the end of their pervious excursion

“Yes, of course,” she responds, first extracting Smoke’s pokeball to return him before grabbing the beast’s pokeball. It’s obvious what Killian has in mind when they reach their fellow Rockets.

Lex immediately regrets her promise. It’s not one she’s sure she can keep but for him she’d try anything.

The quick kiss leaves her wanting more but Killian is out of the shower faster than she expects. Lex finished her shower alone and takes her time. She’s careful to make sure every dried drop of blood has been scrubbed off her body and out from beneath her fingernails. There is no washing away the bruises and swelling but eventually they would fade.

It’s easier to get out of the shower without Killian anchoring her there. She kicks her bloodied clothes into a corner to deal with later. Lex avoid the mirrors, dressing quickly into something comfortable. She’s pulled like a magnet towards the greenhouse after slipping on some shoes at the door.

“What is this, Killian?” she asks curiously, having somewhat of an inkling of what he intends to show her based on the set up.

The weight of how bad of an idea this is paralyzes her for only a moment. There’s hesitation before she follows, but she follows, nonetheless.

Lex nods, her eyes tracing over his body carefully, waiting for a subtle movement that may give away his strategy. She’s uncomfortably aware of the nervous knot in her stomach.

She sinks into a low squat, stretching her legs and shifting rhythmically between them as they build with heat. After taking a moment to consider the question, she looks up towards Theo, “I guess defending myself, maybe?” in all honesty she wasn’t quite sure. Why is she even here with Beckett, of all people? Lex doesn’t start fights or care to let it escalate to that point.

“Almost,” she retorts with a grin as she finishes by pulling her hair into a tight, low bun. The shorter pieces frame her face as she gives the Admin the once over.

“Probably more than most,” Lex keeps herself in good shape. She’s fast, flexible, strong, with a set of almost gymnastic-like skills that aid in infiltration. She needs to be physically prepared in her line of work. That’s what made her so good at running, not fighting.

She comes prepared dressed in a sports bra, leggings, and sneakers. She’s here to train, after all.

“Beckett,” she greets with a small smile as she lets the leather jacket slip off her shoulders and fall onto a nearby bench.

Exploding Minior rained down on them from above and when all hope feels like it is lost, her faith is renewed by the light of her life beside her. Perhaps it was the mild concussion talking, but he glowed radiantly in the aftermath of the explosions. Shadows contour his sharp jawline but it’s the resolve and fire in his brilliant blue eyes that that has her stunned. Killian’s confidence was infectious and authority intoxicating. It was a weird time to be reminded just how grateful she was to be his. She’d follow him anywhere.

Lex watched in awe as her King, in all his glory, solved their predicament swiftly with the help of his Orbeetle. The pokemon’s PSYCHIC makes quick work of the fallen pillar, clearing a path for them to make it out of the main chamber safely. They were met by Killian’s Metagross. Lex quickly returned her Zororak but allowed the now regular Gengar to buzz around them protectively. He’d have their back if any of the League tried something stupid.

He reached for her and Lex was happy to oblige. She hopped onto the Metagross with Baby on her back. Her arms looped around Killian’s waist tightly. She found comfort in his touch, despite the chaos, and a sense of safety now that he was about to get them out of there. Lex remained vigilant for obstacles and threats, only mildly distracted by the overwhelming love for her King as they off rode off into the explosions.

The Gastly hung close to her shoulder, as usual. His cool mist was comforting, especially at times like these. The tension in the elevator was thick and heavy. It weighed down on the cocktail waitress causing her to fidget with the hem of the short skirt. Levi could feel it too. His eyes kept flashing over to steal quick glances at the redhead when he thought she wouldn’t notice. She always noticed. His eyes were easy to read. Without the sunglasses, he was an open book.

A familiar chime sounded when they reached the penthouse suite, Kaito’s office and part-time residence. Before the elevator door even had a chance to open, Levi’s thumb held the button closed. He was nervous, she could tell. His brown eyes glanced towards her, “Lex, please just . . . behave this time,” his tone was stoic, but his gaze begged her for a promise she couldn’t keep.

He didn’t want to have to beat her again.

“Put your glasses back on, you look like an idiot,” It was easier this way.

Levi scowled in frustration, tilting the sunglasses back down over his eyes. He cared too much.

Smoke hissed violently at the sight of the Houndoom greeting them when the door opened. The two didn’t get along in the slightest. Surprise, surprise.

“Shut up,” she snapped quickly, waving a hand through the Gastly’s form to encourage him to disappear. Levi led the way through the foyer with the Houndoom hot on their heels.

His office was large, dark, and disgustingly elegant. It reeked of cigars and pine. He was waiting for her behind his large desk, a hungry smile spread across his face, “Thank you, Levi,” Kaito stood as if pretending to be a proper gentleman when a lady walked into the room. Lex could see through the bullshit, “You may leave us, shut the door,” he smiled, rolling his shoulders while dismissing the grunt.

Her stomach dropped. Nothing good ever happened when he shut the door.

Lex was staring wide eyed down at her own limp body beside Killian’s, “I . . . Don’t think so?” She didn’t feel dead . . . but she wasn’t sure. Lex was happy someone had a clear(ish) head on their shoulders. Without Killian Decker, she would have probably just stared at them blankly until they left her in this ethereal plane.

She copied Killian’s moves and gracefully swung herself on top of one of the other Spectrier. Lex had very limited horse riding experience so when the phantom took off down the mountain, she yelp in surprise and clung to the ghostly reins and squeezed her thighs, desperately trying to stay mounted on the pokemon.

“Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck,” Lex groaned while crawling along the rocky, dirt floor of the cavern. She was an absolute mess at this point: wild hair, dirt smeared across the bare part of her body and blood coming from . . . somewhere that must have gotten scratched up during one of her new multiple strikes from the Explosions. Where the hell did all these Minior come from?!

Killian’s displeasure didn’t help make things better. If only she held on tighter or had time to put it in her pocket. Whatever. It was over now, < HAP HAP! > Baby called out from behind a piece of rock that fell when Lex struck the pillar, “Baby! You little miracle!” She was pointing at the amber shard, “Got it! Let’s go!”

Lex tucked Baby back into her backpack and gave the pokemon the shard to protect. As they made their way back towards the tunnel, a Minior fell right into their path, “Shit!” Lex spun to cling to Killian as Baby put up another PROTECT around them. The rubble from the blast bounced harmlessly off the barrier but a pillar had fallen in their path, completely blocking their exit, “Fuck,” Lex didn’t have any pokemon big enough to move it.
