He shrugged. It sounded fine to him. Alek sat a few feet away from the young lady as he took off his pair of leather shoes, allowing both to drain clean of water. From his belt, Alek plucked one of his pokeballs. Out came Xerox the ditto which he then ordered to transform, copying the carvanha the other had under the water. "Hope you won't mind me borrowing the look." He uttered, not that her reply even mattered as the ditto already did what he does best.

The ditto inched its way towards where water met land. Having found a suitable place to shift, it then morphed, copying the likes of the lass' carvanha. Alek hurled more water came rushing out of his mouth. "Fish me a good one." He sighed, wearily, as the ditto who took the form of carvanha swam off close to the original.

Thud.

The carvanha would hit something, but it wasn't any pokemon. On the surface, bubbles could be seen, rapidly rising from underneath the water. Emerging from the water was Alek, heaving and gasping for air as he spewed water off of his mouth. He gave himself a few seconds to recover before even thinking of moving. Slowly, he made his way to shore. Alek coughed and wheezed, his clothing rough and ragged as he's soaked from head to toe.

With his soaking wet long sleeved top and pair of slacks, it was evident that the man had no business to be underwater. His signature mask, however, was nowhere to be found. Perhaps carried by the river off to God knows where, thankfully, he has plenty of spares on his room back at the sub.

He gave the young woman nearby a rather blank stare and a moment of uncomfortable silence. "Are you fhiiiish- hinnnng" He heaved and wheezed. After another bout of intense coughing and pounding of hid chest, Alek finally cleared his thorat. "No need to ask. Fell down the river not far from here... something trashed the water while I'm in." He shrugged. "Hope you won't mind if I continue my search here."

Alek could only imagine how horrid its stench might have been, thanks to his mask, he was more than safe from suffering the misfortune of taking a whiff off of the trubbish that came his way. The scientist shrugged, the creature did present itself to be a rather interesting creature made of trash. As he sees it, the trubbish may be a good way to dispose of his more hazardous trash.

Out came his grimer off of its pokeball. Knowing well that trubbish kind were natural preys to grimers and muks, Alek made sure to introduce his grimer as early as it is to avoid any unwanted ruckus. A single mud bomb followed shortly by a sludge shot did the trick. He knew well that these attacks didn't do much damage for the trubbish, confident that hitting it with such only weakened it enough for the trubbish be caught much easier. "Hope you've got it off your system. Do not try to eat it."

It should recover once he had returned to base. He hoped for this new addition to be of great use should it ever be needed.

"Air filter, voice changer, identity concealer, and a snazzy style." He answered curtly. "And yes, I'm well aware that I'm not supposed to wear it in every waking moment, but what can I say, It's already part of my brand." He shrugged, shamelessly sharing his thoughts despite often being mocked by those who'd hear about this fondness of his. "It helps to get a high-tech mask when you're working with a sentient sludge."

From the rack beside the table he operated on, Alek took a pair of syringes. Injected upon larvitar's softer, fleshier spot; three vials worth of blood were extracted from the larvitar with an additional vial for his own cause. Without a second to waste, the vials were immediately stored and cooled. Before he continued with sampling of larvitar's skin, Alek thought it was best to nab the chance to learn more of what rocket's ladder was like. It wasn't everyday that one had the opportunity to have a somewhat casual conversation with an underboss.

"I hope you don't mind my intrusion." He said. "I'm just curious what got you to where you're at now on rocket's whole food chain, is all." A bold man he was, addressing one of his bosses with such informality; not that the underboss gave any mind to his tone, though.

With care, Alek transferred the larvitar over towards the electronic scale. "Something specific?" He replied, his attention divided between mon and man. "I'd say you're far too kind sir, but I'm never fond of flattery. I would be lying if I said that I've got nothing in mind. I'm currently interested with acquiring a rotom of my own." He said as he recorded larvitar's weight. With that done, Alek brought the larvitar to a much less cluttered table than that of his own. "But if it's deducted from my pay, well, I'm sure I could manage to find one myself."

From his drawer, out came a tablet which he then aimed towards larvitar. Much like a pokedex, the tablet gave the larvitar a scan, unlike that of the usual dex, however, the tablet offered no more and no less without all the flashy lights, sounds, and nonsensical hearsay a dex had to offer. The tablet gave a reading for larvitar's physical dimensions, assured to offer utmost accuracy; it even gave him a 3d mesh of the larvitar, allowing him to check immediate physical irregularities should there be any without the need to toss and turn the sleeping creature.

He could already tell how Chu-e may think of playing with such device. He made sure for his tablet to be out of reach for his underboss, just to be sure, he thought to himself.

"Sampling's next." He sighed as he wore a disposable mask, replacing his usual beaked one. "Super secret you say, huh? Well whatever this is, it's going on my resume." He shrugged. "This mon yours?" He asked, hoping to stir up enough small talk for the underboss to slip a tidbit or two.

For a moment, he did ponder his options. The furry little bug did seem like a good find. Perhaps he could find good use for it, but surely he could find better, no? Leave it, he thought, as he turned his attention off of the bug. Sure, it's cute, but does he ever care for that? Sadly, the furball had to continue its life wading through the vile outskirts of Slateport; really though, would Rocket's lab be any better?

Alek shook his head and went on with his way, passing the venonat as it scurried off to nowhere. He gave the derelict place a better search, hoping to find a more interisting, more useful catch. Surely there's something here, a bigger mon perhaps? He skipped through piles of rubble and rubbish, headed deeper into the outskirts.

"Not long at all, no." He sighed as he met eyes with a certain stranger. Meeting someone along the way was inevitable, he did suppose. "And a solid advice." He nodded. It was much appreciated indeed. Just as dusk came to be, the pokemon around the area did seem to start and show themselves.

The ever so vibrant politoed caught his eye, the fluttering ribombee not so much. From within it's pokeball out came his equally green Cell, the reuniclus. Alek gave the politoed a point, a gesture enough for the reuniclus to know what its master wanted

With its big slimy arms, the reuniclus gave the toad a might hammer arm, whilst ensuring that it won't leave the politoed damaged beyond Alek's liking.

"Oh, uh..." He turned his attention towards the female beside him as he threw a ball towards the now weakened politoed. "Please, do help yourself. I suppose you're out to hunt as well?"

A swarm of flaming hot dogs eh? Sure he had time. Alek traversed the woods in hopes of nabbing one for his cause. Rumor has it that a golden one was present amongst the pack. Officer Jenny would've loved to see it, whoever it may be; not that he knew of any officer named Jenny. Aimlessly, Alek threw a ball in on the swarm.

The outskirts. The slums of Slateport. If not for his decision to join Rocket then it would've most likely been his home. Abandoned amd derelict, it was the state of most structures found in and around the area. Shady figures watch with glaring eyes as he walked on by, perhaps it was his mask? Alek took no notice of those who stared, instead, he went on with his stride.

He passed the more populated area and headed towards the more barren, more forgotten corners of Slateport's outskirts. Few pokemon scurried on to hide as they sense his presence. By the look of things, the state of the area on which he stood seemed wholly unoccupiable, save for pokemons who presumably took residence in place of those who abandoned the area. The place did reek, though it was nothing he's not used to as he handled much worse at the labs.

"Alright." He called forth. "I'd love a good specimen or two, please."

Alek, for a few months now, had lived underwater inside a rather large submarine. Knowing his living conditions, it would've been a good idea to capture at least a pokemon or two able to swim and survive underwater. As it was long due, he went on towards the more secluded areas of Slateport's beach, long ways past those who's out and about enjoying the water. Alek had high hopes to encounter more specimen for him to examine, after all, most aquatic pokemon do tend to have such curious compositions.

He kicked up sand with every stride, dressed a bit less formal than usual, yet still much overdressed for where he was. He wore a tanktop sure, though he still had his slacks on. At the very least, he wore a pair of flip-flops knowing well that the sand would've ruined his leather. And thank God, his mask was nowhere to be found.

The sun was setting, what a marvelous view it was. Though he wasn't there to see sights.

"C'mon." He uttered to himself, yawning shortly after. "I just need an interesting find..."

Panic. Unrest. A valuable lesson was learned that day; never dump toxic waste out on the ocean if it's heavily modified, otherwise, who cares. Alek eyed the purple sludge through the nearby observatory. It couldn't be that bad, right? Wrong. "The toxin's half-life was far longer than expected..." He mumbled, his panic eased for a split second only to marvel at his work. "Impressive. But still..." From a small beaker's worth, the toxin now dispersed up to as much as a barrel's worth. Should he do nothing about it, it could easily compromise their location for catching eyes and even bring upon the potential to corrode their hull.

He stood beside the observatory, eyeing the airlock hatch provided within the wing for scientists to use with their marine related projects. He had to take care of it. But first, if he did wish to clean things up like nothing ever did happen, he had to find a willing accomplice -er helper. Someone other than those of much higher rank, of course; God forbid they find out what he did.

"Hey there, uh, friend." He grimaced, struggling to recall a name as he picked upon the nearest individual he could vaguely recognize. Alek took his beaked mask off for proper courtesy, but just this once; he truly needed his trust. "You're a man of science yes? I've seen you around. Could I ask a tiiiiiiiiiny favor? Just a little thing, yeah?" He smiled. "Brilliant minds should work together, no? I just got this small problem with my work. Just a teensy tiny problem."
