"I can tell." He replied. "Things have been off the rails lately even without rocket." He shrugged. But of course rocket was out there, he should know, though he couldn't share such something privy as such.

A wild ludicolo came dancing into view; it seemed jovial without much intent to harm. It came dancing towards the reuniclus, circling it as though performing a tribal ritual dance. The reuniclus, with its curiosity, follwed suit with the dance. Cell began by waving its hands and bobbing up and down to imitate the ludicolo's movements. Perhaps he could try Chloe's initial approach, given that it seemed friendly enough.

Alek chucked a ball towards the ludicolo, and much to his surprise, it was kind enough to agree with its capture. "Huh." He raised his brow. "Well there goes my last catch." He said, pleased with his haul for the day.

"It's been a great pleasure to meet you. I'm afraid we haven't found what you were looking for, but surely if you keep at it you will." He said. "And I'm afraid science has no breaks. I'm sure my colleagues are in search of me now so I should probably take my leave."

With that said, Alek gave Chole a wave.

"I went for fish and got bugs." He groaned. "But this one's fine."

He gave his transformed ditto a thumbs up, followed shortly with a point towards the scyther that appeared near the lake, most likely to investigate the ruckus. As the Peggie's own carvanha took care of the ape, Alek's own carvanha-turned-ditto had its own action packed moment.

The scyther seemingly sensed the hostility, as such, it preemptively struck with a quick attack of its own towards Xerox. The ditto made use of its then carvanha sharp fangs to crunch at the bug. After which, the ditto jumped backwards, covering itself in high pressure water, and launched itself forward as its aqua jet came crashing towards the scyther.

"And I'm fresh out of balls." He sighed, choosing to throw his finall pokeball towards the then weakened bug type. The ditto flopped its way towards Alek and returned to its original form, though it sure is raring for more action. "My loss." He shrugged. "I'll take my leave. I think I need to get checked." He added, again with a shrug.

Alek stood with a groan, his wet clothes weighing him down, and went on his way.

As they await for their order to be made, Alek listened to the story Cogmo had provided. He lived a simple life, it seemed, something he never truly experienced much as a kid. All of his past memories were of books and online articles, carcasses of pokemon to be dissected and examined. Perhaps his parents were partially responsible of his unhealthy obsessions.

Yet still, he was thankful for them, for if not for the pressure they instilled, he would have been another irrelevant speck on an ever expanding universe. At the very least, he was contributing for the progress of humanity.

"I've got my doctorate in science and pokemon studies. A scientist, I suppose, is what you may call me." He replied nonchalantly as he grabbed his order off of the server. Given his payment, Alek followed Cogmo on his walk, taking a bite off of his cold treat as the other spoke.

"You've got heart." He said. "It's never too late for more advanced studies. I'm sure you'd fare well given more information. I can tell by the way you look, talk, move, and treat your pokemon that you're very much in tune with them, no? Aspiring breeder? Farmer?..." Alek said, throwing educated guesses as he shared his fair bit of deduction given what information he had gathered thus far.

He paused to give his snowcone another bite. "Either way, learning more about pokemon would certainly help a lot." With his large wooloo plushie on one hand and his snowcone on the other, Alek turned to Cogmo, halting his steps. "I wish you luck. I've got prior appointments tonight, only took a break for a bit; the others insisted." He waved his snowcone occupied hand. "Suppose I'll take my leave, and good one for dealing with that scam earlier."

"That's top notch fabric." Alek assured. "Your mother knows what she's doing." With the way he talked and how he had described of their practice with regards to pokemon, the scientist from rocket could only hypothesize that Cogimo was far from the usual city slicker.

Hearing of his interest to know more brought the smallest smidge of joy to Alek, despite not showing it. Though he may usually be a tactless man who'd set no limits for the sake of discovery, he's still a researcher who has great joy when sharing his knowledge to those willing to partake.

"Eight years is an awful lot." He answered. "Maybe you'd have more luck bringing him to more caverns, let him stick against cavern walls to absorb more minerals; really just expose him to more mineral rich environments. If you're growing berries, it would probably be beneficial to let him near the growing crops to get some excess nutrients."

After answering Cogimo, Alek then leaned towards the ice stall seeing that it was now their turn on the line. "Blue raspberry for me." He said towards the server before turning back to look at Cogimo. "And he'll have..." He trailed off, as if to signal his company that was his turn to state his order.

"Galar." He echoed. "What for?" Alek pried. Quite interesting indeed. It would've been for his own best interest to know just what his ex-colleague was up to on a far off region. Something he could look into, perhaps?

"I wouldn't mind." He shrugged, it was where he's headed after all. "I've left Devon not too long ago now" He stated as they head towards the cafe, returning readily available information of his own whereabouts so as to not be rude. "A few weeks ago. The new ownership had not been too kind." He added. Though it would've been far too obvious for someone like Devon, who knew of his little projects and methods, as to why he had been laid off.

As alek entered the rustic cafe, fresh aroma of ground coffee filled his nostrils; a soothing fragrance coupled with a comfy setting. Alek went straight towards the counter, leaning forward to view the menu. "Espresso and two lemon bars for me, and for my friend here..." He trailed off as he looked back at Dakota in hopes that he'd tell the barista of his preference.

Two knocks. Alek stood before the door labeled as Cillian Quinn 's office, the other underboss beside Chu-e Choi whom he had the pleasure, and nuisance, to meet only mere days ago. Held on his left was a thick black folder, filled with paper to a point where the strap that held it close was struggling to keep it shut. These were files and test results from the larvitar Chu-e had tasked him to examine; a soft-copy of such files were also available on the flash drive he kept on his pocket.

Speaking of larvitar, the pokemon was stored on its own pokeball found clipped on Alek's belt, intended to be returned in time with its test results.

Two more knocks. "Alek Xanders from the science and research department." He said out loud. "I'm here to deliver larvitar's test reults from two days ago."

On a second thought, maybe he did need an appointment.

"I am." He replied. "I research and study pokemon, specializing on biology. How's the ranger life?" He asked in return. He was truly curious on how they operated, after all, they were part of those who are able to arrest them should they be caught goofing around.

Alek found along the shore a psyduck, dazed and seemingly confused as its kind usually is. The reuniclus turned to Alek, and with a nod, followed through by giving the duck a shot of psychic. He knew that it wouldn't do much, which was perfect as he didn't want to damage the pokemon too much.

The duck retaliated, however, with fury swipes slashing away at reuniclus' slimy body, doing little to nothing towards the cell-like pokemon. Annoyed by this, the reuniclus gave the duck it's signature pounding with its hammer arm, finally weakened, Alek threw an empty ball towards the water type.

"I could only get one more." He said as he retrieved the ball. "Let's see now if we could get you what you're looking for."

"Ah" He sighed. "I'm very thankful." He nodded. Alek pressed on one of his pokeballs slung around his belt. With a flash of light came his grimer. "I'll have grimer reabsorb the sludge." The grimer squirmed as if to agree.

As it seemed, Novak was interested with his little side project. Seeing as they were both colleagues, he had thought that it wouldn't hurt to divulge little details here and there. "Quite frankly, I'm not sure." He admitted. "I was sure it was a dud. I'm trying to make a fast acting poison, one able to quickly spread on a person's system. I did some tinkering on grimer's sludge. Traces of muk and grimer sludge are known to grow and form new grimer overtime so I tried to fiddle and see how I could hasten the process without granting the sludge the sentience of a grimer during the process. The sea water must've served as a catalyst to produce the result."

He blabbered, hoping what he said was enough information for his fellow man of science.

"Not bitching." He clarified with a grin. "And most certainly not drowned, I'm very much alive." He added.

He gave sight of her attempted capture for the poor beaver, yet again, missing the sight of a bug type that scurried on nearby.
"Bah." He spat, watching as his ditto-turned-carvanha swam the depths of the river. He coughed once more, now clearing what's left of what's inside of him. Slowly, he was regaining his strength; though he was more than sure that he'd be sick the next morning with what transpired.

"Come on there, just one more." He exclaimed, cheering his ditto on.

Priam didn't even bat an eye after what he had said. He shrugged. The ditto reverted to its original form turning back into its usual slimy self. Alek plucked a ball off of his belt and pointed it towards the ditto, recalling to its storage. Thinking it would've been for the best to leave just as the young man did, Alek took off.

He didn't give his fellow rocket much more to hear and went out on his own, he was far too swift for him to even catch, either way. Still, he was unable to catch his name; something along the lines of Prime Conman, he thought, or whatever it might have been.

The pokemon continued with their task at hand, spewing out streams of water towards the burning shrine like firefighters on duty. As they went on, Alek took a peek at what Priam had in hand. "Where did you-" He stuttered, eyes wide as he took sight of its supposed composition found printed along the firework's packaging. "Where'd you find these?"

A single glance and it was enough for Alek to identify how powerful the supposed fireworks were. Its contents were highly compact, allowing enough power for such a small cracker to hold. "Well that's no firework, I tell you" He sighed, waving his hand up for the ditto to notice, signalling it to make a louder sploosh of water to cover his speech.

"Fireworks don't usually have nitroglycerine." He said, wearily. "Those are mini 'nades!"
