If there's anything she's learnt from being in this line of business, it's that details are what helps to make the bigger picture. Loose explanations of at the wrong place there at the wrong time only feel like an excuse to stop her from getting involved in something that's far too dangerous for her to manage.

But what's to stop her from pursuing the truth if she doesn't get it? It gnaws, claws, digs and bites at her anxiety-ridden mind: A desire to want to be there for someone, kept out of reach by the one she wants to help the most.

"Explain it properly. Clearly, there were other things that happened during the invasion." Before she falls to the ground in a heap, Lumia draws up her own chair, sitting gracelessly as she tugs her knees to her chest. "You can't keep me in the dark forever. How is she?
Numb. Uncertain. Fearful.

The question goes unanswered. She's rather quiet, even when compared to her usual soft-spoken demeanour. The kitchen drawers slide open and shut, polished spoons picked out and gently placed on the table. None of her usual companions will enter this room, all herded away by a watchful Dragapult and most likely resting in the greenhouse by now.

Family time is important. Always has been and always will be in this household.

"Be careful... Be careful? Who's the one not being careful here?" Her voice is barely raised over a whisper. As always, never one to raise her voice at anyone no matter how indignant or emotional she gets. "Who's the one that went to Sootopolis and got involved? Who's the one who's risking their life and meddling in dangerous things?"

Her fingers press hard against the wooden table, the tips of her fingers turning red as she supports herself whilst her knees threaten to buckle under her. She swallows her breath and averts her gaze but it's hard to hide the tears that drip upon the counter.

"You don't get to tell me to be careful when you can't even practice what you preach, Laurence Anderson."

The longer they spend wandering through the streets, the antsier Ren seems to get. They have no clues as to where these lost puppies are and he can't help but feel unnerved by the strangers that watch them pass by. This is Rocket territory. This is a dangerous place to anyone associated with the League should members of Rocket know that they're there.

"Relax. No one knows." Even if she can't quite put up a fight, Lumia knows that she doesn't really need to. Or rather, she naturally assumes that she doesn't need to. Despite her blood ties to Laurence Anderson, barely anyone knows that they're cousins. Part of it can probably be attributed to how tight-lipped he's been about her existence. After all, who would assume a dull, simple child like her to be related to a notable Head Ranger and the avatar of Articuno itself?

If anything, even she had been caught off guard when he admitted to it. She had simply assumed it was some kind of inside joke within the ranks of the League and brushed it off. Now that she thinks back on it, Lumia feels like she should have caught onto it sooner.

A gentle nudge against her shoulders is a rare but welcomed gesture from the Dragapult, a strange crooning indicative of how seldom he shows affection. "I'm fine." Patting his head, Lumia pulls herself back together. "Let's just... focus on rounding them up, okay? Lars... we'll worry about him later."

Barks catch her attention, intertwined with tiny growls as they echo down the alleyways. Perking up, the girl starts running in the direction of the sound, faith breathed into her steps as she dismisses her worries to the winds. For now, getting these lost pokemon back to their owners is her main priority.

Try as hard as she does to unsee this reality, it becomes hard to consistently forget the situation she's in - A little bird happy to remain in her little bird cage, oblivious to the tragedies of the world around her. She's okay in a world of stasis, okay to remain in a world that never changes. Change may be a wind that blows throughout the region but it certainly isn't a breeze that blows through her closed windows that often.

When the delivery man arrives, she's all but surprised. Somehow over the course of a few precious minutes, she's found herself numbed to her emotions, sweeping her uncertainty and doubts away as she placidly helps to shift the ice cream into the kitchen.

How is she supposed to begin dissecting any of this madness? More importantly, what expression should she put on for a cousin who seems so distressed? She's always been a listener, always opened her doors to the worries that plagued others but never has she had to deal with news this heavy before.

As the day continues to slip by, she's waiting patiently by the door, the shop closed to all who pass by and the visitors waved off with an apologetic smile. No fidgeting, no toe tapping, no sound save for the soft ticking of the clock on the wall - When she finally spies his silhouette upon the horizon, she still hasn't figured out what expression she should make.

"Come in."

There's barely a creak to the door, barely a click when she closes it to the world beyond. Just them, just her -

All in this little bubble, all that she ever knows.

Sootopolis has been taken over by Rockets - That statement sits so heavy on her chest that just trying to process it gives her a far share of headaches. All she sees are League dissenters and the unfortunate who are trapped in this situation, whether by connections to this land or by promises made to their families. All she sees are people trying to rebuild their homes from ruins in the aftermath of both League personnel and Rocket members going wild. And it is by family tradition that they will not stand by when others require assistance.

Having delivered the final bouquets of flowers to the bereaved and the grieving, Lumia scrolls through the list of requests she's gotten from visitors to her shop - Sootopolis citizens who often order from her store or are directed to the businesses who are still willing to provide their services to them; Each group leaves her with requests that she simply can't refuse. But she can't complete all of them in a day, she'll definitely be making more trips to the city with the numerous orders of flowers still flooding in.

If Laurence Anderson were to visit her store at this very moment, he'd find a note left upon the counter, guarded by a feisty Noibat and a tired Axew - Out for deliveries and requests in Sootopolis, will be back soon. She only hopes that he won't ever get to see it.

"So we better move quick, Ren. There's a whole bunch of dogs that need to be returned to their families." Her hand settles upon her carrier bag, slung across her shoulder to ensure that it can't be snatched. Her Dragapult merely sighs, uncertain of whether this is a good idea but more than ready to render assistance should danger arise. "So we've got a Lilpup, a Furfrou and a missing Poocheyena? Can't be that bad, can it?"

Hopefully not.

Is what she should have said, had she understood what Ren was actually achieving with the action. Instead, she's stuck shrugging at her cousin as the Dragapult sighs and slams his tail under the cover to keep it shut. To kill a fire, everything begins by ensuring there's no oxygen to burn, regardless of the base it's created on - This is a fact that has been shoved into the dragon's mind by a very concerned duo of florists.

"Well, it looks like it's settling down? So anyways, I don't think I'll have any dinner for you if you plan on staying over tonight!"
