If she hasn't been eaten so far, then she can only take her chances in following these strange pokemon that have been trying (rather unsuccessfully) to convey their intents to her. Sniffling, she tries to rub away her pooling tears, forcing herself back to her feet as she follows Astra's lead.

"Where did you even come from?"

The past? Some cave in the present? A portal to the future? She can barely keep up with any of the strange happenings in Hoenn, if she has to be real. All she knows is if they're somewhat capable of doing things, then she should probably leave them to their own devices or rely on them.

The more she watches how this strange pokemon reacts to her words, the more convinced she grows of this little pupper trying to send her to her demise. Barking this loudly? When there are other monsters around? Is it trying to call for backup? Then what about the Yamask beside it?

She chokes up, unable to understand the barking nor able to find a voice to silence it. Having sensed her trainer on the verge of breaking down, Astra carefully takes her hands with her feelers, trying her best to listen to the strange little one. And failing rather miserably.

Perhaps, it would be best if she tried to explain their situation, the Sylveon trying to convey the whole notion of being lost as best as she can. But really, how sure can they be that they'll find any help from these two?

Given how many times she's visited his place, it comes as no surprise that Lars can identify her without so much as a glance in her direction. Still, she can't help but wonder whether that's indicative of just how often his other guests visit.

Wait, who was invited again?

She doesn't recognise the first figure that steps in, but the second is a face she's grown to know. Though, Elinor Anderson seems a little frazzled. Has she just come from whatever work she's had to do? All Lumia feels like she can do in this unfamiliar situation is to pour a glass of water and offer it to those who just arrived.

Oh, the sheer panic that courses through her veins when she sees Astra's ears perk up. A part of her wishes to scrabble away but the other half of her brain screams that there are more creatures waiting for her to come running out of those bushes.

This is it! She has to stand her ground and fight! She can do this! She has to do this if she wants to get out alive!

But then she meets the gaze of an unfamiliar pokemon, her body freezing in place whilst her Sylveon latches her ribbons onto her wrist.

"I'm not edible! Please! I don't taste good! I swear!!"

It is... but I love doing it! And well, it's probably about the only thing I'm good at... I can't really cook and I'm not the smartest cookie in the class, but I can probably tell you quite a bit of useless floral facts!" She pauses, looking at the curious Dragapult and the plant it beholds.

"Leucospermum catherinae, the catherine-wheel pincushion. They kind of look like fireworks, don't you think? I probably need to make a new space in the greenhouse if I want to make them flourish..." Pressing her fingers against her own cup of tea, Lumia wonders if she should add some sugar before drinking it.

"Anyways... I'm sorry if I don't have much to say. I rarely get visits from cousins... N- not that many know about me to begin with! I don't exactly have a big-time career like you and Lars do either... And I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to fight off some major threat to the region, really. So uhm- Thank you, for all the work you've been doing!"

It's rare for the culinarily-challenged like Lumia to pull off miracles in the kitchen, but on the rare occasions - such as the seventh time of the month where her dragons have called her toaster crusty and proceeded to trash the 30th(?) fire alarm of the year - she does manage to pull off said miracles.

This time, it takes the form of a pot of creamy salmon soup and a box of stuffed cabbage rolls; A little something from the recipe book that her mother had stowed in the kitchen. And under the watchful eyes of her Kommo-o and Dragapult, the goods are delivered safely to Laurence Anderson doorstep, the two dragons squinting through whatever windows they might find as Lumia skillfully lets herself in.

Spying Alpha watching the kitchen, she places her index finger to her lips and smiles. There's no need to interrupt the man while he loses his shit in the kitchen. Instead, she guides Ren and Nithe in putting the dishes down, carefully arranging the table so nothing gets dropped by accident.

Take a deep breath.

Pretend you know what you're doing.

Look around you and assess the situation.

"I don't know what I'm doing." Comes a hushed whisper, a young woman desperate holding onto her Sylveon as they cower behind a large bush. What had began with going into the forest to check on the local ecosystem had become an unpleasant surprise as the sky was swallowed up by shades of purple and black.

Monstrous howls echo all around, thudding footsteps crunching fallen branches and leaves nearby. Though she can't see them, she knows that whatever is out there is most certainly larger than any normal pokemon she's ever encountered and most likely aggressive on sight.

"There's no signal..." Her phone is quickly shoved back into her pocket as soon as she gleans this bit of information, her heart pounding in her ears as she swallows a sob. Was this one of those... distortion things that Laurence Anderson had been warning her about? What was she supposed to do when she encountered such an anomaly again? Get out of the area as soon as possible?

"What do we do, Astra??"

Would he appreciate it? Her worrying over the things he refuses to tell her, probing into matters and burdens that he wishes to take on alone... She isn't even sure that she can offer the help he needs if he ever does ask for it.

"Huh? Oh, yes. They're not always Hoennian, so they usually ask for plants that don't quite grow here. And we help to ensure that we aren't introducing any invasive species when we handle their requests. Or well, I do... since they're not around at the moment."

There's a slight pause in Lumia's movements as she looks to Elinor Anderson, a glaze in her eyes as if she's thoroughly processing what the councilwoman has just said. And when she finally breaks out of it, she finds her words sitting uncomfortably upon her tongue.

"He's been getting injured lately... but I haven't gone to visit him since he usually tells me not to worry."

Perhaps, to spare her of having to tell the nurses at the counter that she's related to Laurence Anderson. But that thought never once crosses her mind, even as she adds a sugar cube to her tea.

And well, they don't usually tell me where they're going. They always say it's a business trip of sorts and come back with a list of new clients."

No preferences means less expectations hoisted upon her shoulders, less eyes on her means less people who witness her mistakes. And perhaps, that is what draws even a hint of a smile on her face as she quickly slips through the doorway to her kitchen. Having learnt from the whole predicament of causing house fires when operating a stove, Laurence Anderson had kindly made her life just that bit easier by providing her an electric kettle. And in doing so, he had probably saved the lives of dozens of innocent fire alarms.

Chamomile tea is the first thing that draws her attention amidst all the other containers in the cupboard, probably due to how easily it calms her in any kind of discussion. With a few careful movements from pouring boiling water to steeping the leaves, she somehow manages to prepare a teapot without any incidents. And this is met with half-enthusiastic claps from Ren, the Dragapult now hovering more closely to ensure that she doesn't drop it.

"Well, he visits every now and then when he isn't busy..."

The cups are placed on the counter, steam dancing off the rims as liquid gold slips from the teapot's spout. For a brief moment, her lips twitch but that is quickly brushed away with the loose strands of hair falling across her cheeks.

"Checks in every now and then since äi- I mean, mamma and pops left for their trip."

Looking for her? Had Laurence Anderson done something and not told her about it? What would it be this time? Getting hospitalised after an attack? Or forgetting to submit some quarterly report on the rangers? Or maybe he was the one that committed tax evasion...

"O- oh... hmm... Lars hasn't ever told me about you, even when he comes for dinner every now and then..."

What if she's just making a joke to see how gullible she is? Even if this were supposed to be some kind of prank, surely a councilwoman wouldn't have this much time to do such a thing, right?

"Uhm... d- do you want some tea? I don't really have any fresh baked cookies though... Oh Ren, there's still some fruits in the garden, right?" Tidying the loose pieces on the table surface, Lumia readily slides from behind the counter. And she keeps looking towards her hands as if trying to count something on the spot. "Do... you have a preference? O- or maybe you like coffee better?"

The name Laurence Anderson makes her stop abruptly, her distress melting into confusion as she tries to piece things together.

"I- Well... uhm... yes? Technically? He's my cousin and all... Were you looking for him?"
