Overeagerness was the downfall of many a man, one of whom happened to be Miles today. His training regimen would be cut short due to what the researcher would call an equal mixture of carelessness and bad luck. The combination led to a sprained ankle and an early end to his hike. The culprit was a loose stack of stones just off the trail which upon being stepped on led to a harsh tumble and the rocket's current predicament. That said, there was more than just a silver lining in his accident, a trade-off for his sprained ankle came in the form of a fossil pokemon, one he'd wished to study and get his hands on for a long while, even prior to his time at Devon. A fossil pokemon native to the Hoenn region, an Anorith had been uncovered underneath the stones he'd callously trampled upon it was needless to say quite the find all things considered. Though the ancient bug was none too happy to have its resting place uncovered and was clearly looking to deal with whoever had disturbed it. A request Obelos was more than happy to oblige.

It wasn't a particularly long fight though watching the two ancient pokemon go at it in the present day was something vaguely poetic to watch while the hurt trainer patched himself together. Miles would give a command every so often managing his focus between the two issues through the tyrannic pokemon seemed to have a more natural advantage over its enemy. The battle ends with a particularly powerful crunch knocking the Anorith out. Seconds after a familiar orb would fly towards the bug its red-light encapsulating the beast leaving only the orb in its wake.

While his regimen had been cut short for the day, it was a more than worthwhile trade.

Attempting to catch the bug boy

This didn't sit right with him, but the job was just that, the job. If he didn't do it at this point someone else would, better him to hold the weight. The mix of anger and sarcasm on the comms served to calm the rocket, a reminder that if nothing else he wasn't alone in all this.

A number of devices had been placed inside the guild, the devices while small let out a frequency unique to bug pokemon apparently rocket had been developing these since their time in Kanto, It would enrage the pokemon and cause them to swarm the tower leaving ample time for the team to get their job done. The devices could only run for about 90 minutes individually a fair tradeoff for their size. By the time the ranger's realized what'd happened, the rockets would be long gone or so dictated the plan.

Miles would pull up his own half mask, its design was that of an Arbok its fangs particularly sharp in the illustration. It was the mask that determined his codename. "Viper to all. We know our roles we know the mission. We get in and we get out. Nothing fancy, nothing unnecessary, avoid combat if at all possible."

His fingers glide over the button and in a click, the synchronic humming would altogether stop leaving complete silence.

All at once, chaos would erupt. Bug pokemon of all sizes and species would swarm the tower all in an attempt to stop the frequency. Any poor soul unlucky enough to get in their way would be in for a fight. Rocket, League, Civilian it didn't matter.

"Mission Start."

And with that he too was off, calling forth an Aerodactyl the hooded rocket would make his way toward the guild from the skies.

Like the many before him, and surely the many after his hands were now stained.

He says it almost on reflex, the Hoennian's disdain for corporations even upon joining rocket was as thinly veiled as could be, the monopolizing tech giant, in particular, served as a particular source of ire for the former Devon employee. When the highly ranked rocket draws the case from his person Miles prepares to decline only for the holder to reveal a very customized assortment of lollipops, if he wasn't so surprised he'd be impressed. There's momentary hesitation before deciding to partake under the pretense of " When in Johto...' And surprisingly enough it was a choice that wasn't followed by instant regret, a rarity these days.

With lollipop in mouth, the grunt was ready to take steps in, all the while figuring out the best way to begin his personal mission. He had half a mind to be coy, but oscar clayton in the Twenty-Three words he'd spoken since their arrival seemed like a man who'd appreciate a straight shot.

He'd begin moving into the complex a creaky door leading into a dark hallway, shuffling from surrounding rooms every so often, it was charmingly classic. It's only when the researcher adjusts the rocket-issued visor that he decides to breach the topic on his mind.

"With all due respect sir, I'm under the impression that with your strength this job is essentially benign. It could have been done without any greenhorn grunt at your heels. An insinuation. "Am I wrong to assume that my being here was less a directive of 'Rocket Beast Clayton', and guided by Oscar Clayton, CEO of Infinity Industries?"

"I'm far more inclined to believe the latter, though I don't believe it was another pokemon or something of the sort. I think the conditions on this planet happened to be perfect for life to thrive after millennia of random occurrences. Lips curve upward as he finishes what he felt was a satisfactory answer, "Not the most exciting theory I know, but I'm far more curious as to your answer, seeing as you've kept silent for this long.

Gina Grey was a dangerous woman, being able to entice the researcher with one of the few things that he felt was worth anything. Knowledge.

Dr. Reyes work is second to none and while she may be allied with two actual human monsters, her work ethic is inspiring and while they work in completely different sectors miles has read her various works as well as her thesis multiple times, not because it's related to his own practices, but because she's just that damn good and watching someone even younger than he succeed is inspiring. Much like Applebees you perfected the appetizer, but the second course (post) didn't quite hit the mark.

The mountain pass leading toward the Rusturf Tunnel was a rather cozy place for the new Rocket. He’d been a couple of times now and slowly it was becoming a go to spot to train, to get away from the hustle and bustle of his new criminal life. As per usual Obelos lead the charge into the foggy rock pass, Though the man noticed as he moved about the stone hills and valleys that they were much easier to navigate. It made sense, every time he’d left the pass he’d come out a bit stronger both as a trainer and as a person. Something to take pride in as he certainly wasn’t the most athletic rocket. It was something the man was trying to bone up on seeing as every mission thus far had left the man in something close to a coma. He’d thought his fieldwork prior to rocket would have given him at least half a leg up when it came to the sheer physicality of his new career, but he was dead wrong. Nothing a little consistent work couldn’t fix however.
