he takes one of the bags to help as he leads them into the space of his ranch. he rounds the granite countertop in the kitchen, placing it there, before reaching for plates.

it stands atop the rocks, once more firing a CONFUSE RAY at the blaziken this time. and, with its other arm, it fires a SMOG right in its face.

as he listens to the elite four tell their story of another life lived, he nods every now and then and does his best not to judge. but when they bring up one point in particular, he can't help but chuckle.

from what he's seen of the man so far, he can't say he's surprised. he always knew they were similar; he just didn't want to accept it.

it almost feels jarring to know how she'll respond to anything he says, having learned enough about her from both their time together in person as well as his time spent in that virtual game. she'll continue to run from any form of responsibility and he'll continue to chase because he wants to win.

finally, as though he'd been holding it back ever since he set his eyes on her in the mists of the border, he barks out a laugh that rivals the volume of hers but not its venom.

lips affixed into a grin, he pulls his hand away, feeling her burning grudges alight his skin.

her vain attempt proves true. her shove rocks him, certainly, but all it takes is a bit of tension to hold his ground in stubborn defiance as he has shown time and time again. not even death and a clear mind could change that, it seems.

he gazes down at her, ignoring the pounding of her fists against his chest. proving to be a nuisance, he reaches a hand up for her wrist to try and get her to stop throwing a tantrum.

"nothing i say."

his thoughts are dragged away by the sound of his arcanine's cry as it's struck by a SHADOW SNEAK. he turns with a renewed sense of urgency, letting go of her in favor of palming a pokeball on his belt. a red beam recalls his arcanine, leaving him defenseless.

WO-CHIEN is paid no mind to nor her words. he turns back to look at her, determined.
