the first and second options would likely lead you to get caught in a loop with either side unwilling to compromise. she's stubborn the same way you are, you remember. to get the desired outcome, you realize you have to beat her at her game. you have to back her into a corner until there's no escape but to surrender to you.

at one point in time, matias would have considered himself a god. he felt untouchable and invincible; not saved by divine intervention but by his own making. everything fell under his command because he could control it all.

that's partially a lie. it's difficult for him to filter which thoughts are his own and which are influenced by external, otherworldly factors. it's easier to assume they're all his own, ridding him of the need to filter them altogether.

he avoids kyle's gaze and focuses on the dog instead. he's not unfamiliar with the breed, only the level of interaction and care kyle's expecting him to give it.

surrounded by lush trees, complimented by a serene lake, and backdropped by rolling mountains, he could think of worst ways to spend a late afternoon.

throughout the whole story, he listens intently, drawn to the way eddie's voice sounds; the inflections, the pauses; while also invested in the story, much to his surprise.

at the end of it, he could only chuckle.

"that's a real long way to call me gorgeous but i'll take it."

his hold on the bouqet grows a little tighter.

he turns, smiling.
