Salandit had a choice. Staying here and holding onto its prey might ensure its demise, certainly. But it was already exposed. The ink to the face made that perfectly clear. She had a choice here between capturing its prey and preserving its health.
And like any good predator, it chose the latter. Yes, some might call it cowardly or something like that, but when she let go of the bunny – instead Venom Drenching the area beneath to poison it some more and hopefully taking it down that way – that was just what seemed logical.

After all, one could not eat when one was alive. A good predator knew when to cut her losses. And so, she rushed back into the ruins of the house that Ekans crashed into, hoping to find some shelter from the barrage there.

So, it was more a ground type than an electric type, it appeared. Though, admittedly, she did know that this was not one of Zappa’s types. She just found it interesting how that Pokemon decided to escape the electricity.

However, the ground was good at conducting things other than that. Like, say, vibrations. “Stop that advance with Boom Burst,” she ordered, which made Toxcricity swiftly start huffing his chest and then emitting a very loud, well, booming voice at the other Pokemon.

“That is, well, surprising would be the wrong word,” she replied, smirking. Obviously, he was trying to win. Who wasn’t, in a Pokemon battle? The only people she could think of were those who might get paid with some reward outside the tournament to throw a fight, probably being led into some spiral of nefarious deeds and probably ending up in prison where they might get shiv’ed to death.

Wow, that went dark quickly. And a bit meta, too. Best back to the fight at hand. Here, The Zorua was taking this cue to start running and to jump off of the little rock it had been on, instead seeking to get to Riolu’s little island to bring the fight to it with some Night Gaze. That, incidentally and accidentally helped it escape the shattering of the stage.
Lapras, meanwhile, takes the opportunity while not being focused to send some green sparkles to its allies, Life Dew healing all of them, while Remoraid, wincing from the Gigadrain, sent another Psybeam at the ghastly anchor beneath the waves.

This was now fairly evidently turning into a battle of attrition. The Ponyta and Weavile were trading blows, Ponyta being hit by an admittedly not very effective attack and Stomping in return. It was not in good shape either, certainly, but it was still holding on and was determined to see this through one way or another.

Pyukumuku on the other hand…din’t have any attacks. In fact, all it could do was help allies or hamper foes. Or protect itself with Harden, of course. Hence, it did just that again – hoping that Ponyta could win her fight so that she might offer some relief.

“Well, I guess everyone being confused does not help with anything related to strategy,” she noted with a light smile. It had not exactly been her intention to cause that, but it had happened. Might as well lean into it, at that point.

But since everyone seemingly got out of this without a broken ego at least, this was a win in her book. Well, she could not speak for his Pokemon, but Sam at least did not seem to worry about that. “It certainly has been different than the other battles I’ve had here before. I can attest you that much.”

Heh. That was kind of impressive. Eve had all but expected to get rejected there. It was more common than not, really, especially with other women. Not everyone was as free-flowing and malleable as she was in that regard, and she respected that. However, it was often difficult to find that out without asking, so she’d just did. It was a no harm, no foul kind of situation in her opinion. But it was a tad bit embarrassing.

Especially because that girl kind of did not just reject her, but him as well, despite giving him a brief little kiss on the cheek. Eve could certainly understand that momentary speechlessness he spoke of and she had to smirk at the antics, involuntarily. This stuff really was getting to her, wasn’t it?



Well, nothing she could do but disengage. “Ahh, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. This is a day of oddness, reverie and mistakes, after all,” she replied, before downing another drink. Maybe not the best idea, since she was already feeling a bit tingle, but that was fine. She just had to make it…somewhere else. Maybe. Unless she found another refill as she went…

Well, that was….something alright. Eve wasn’t quite sure how to feel about this. On one hand, yes, Ghastly had won this. And the little ball of gas happily swerved left to right in order to savour this victory. It was still moving a bit uneasy though, the lingering effects of confusion clearly still being active.

But this had been such a weird fight. Eve really was not sure if they won it as much as they might have gotten randomly lucky and ‘survived’. At least it kind of felt that way. Ah, well, she didn’t want to be a bad winner though, so she noded with a smile and accepted the hand offered to her.
“Yes, definitely seems that way. Though it might have just as well been yours. That did appear at least somewhat close, if you ask me.” Eve wasn’t completely downplaying her efforts. But she was aware that all things considered, she hadn’t exactly done a whole lot in this battle.

Eve arched a brow at that statement. Given that this Metagross had grown into an odd, overgrown version of itself seemingly at random, she would not exactly say that it had completely kept its cool or anything like that. But she didn’t say that out loud. “I guess Ghastly is having a little tantrum, too,” she replied, seeing that one try yet again to headbutt another ghost in submission. However, that was much easier said and done.

And when it caught a Shadow Ball right as it tried to Sucker Punch the newcomer, well, that simply was it. Ghastly, despite its efforts, fainted and had to be recalled. “But it does seem like the team with issues won here today.”

And then they suddenly came. Both of them. Eve was a little surprised at that, given that it seemed antithetical to how this battle had progressed so far. But that was just part of fighting with Pokemon, wasn’t it? Not every action made sense at first glance, and the power of surprise could turn a battle in and of itself.

And that just meant she had to react quickly. “Pyukumuku, Helping Hand once more, Ponyta, charge it down!” With that, there would be another boosted Flare Blitz at the Weavile, in order to take that one out first, while Pyukumuku braced for impact from the incoming Avalugg.

That Noble Roar worked pretty well. Naturally, Toxcricity was pleased with itself, but the strategy seemed to work out rather well so far. With this Pokemon, Evette clearly had a much different strategy in mind than usual.

Thus, she would not attack. At least not yet. Or rather, she wouldn’t try to hurt that Zappa just yet. Instead, a different kind of zap was incoming. “Eerie Impulse next,” she ordered, and this time it was Toxcricity’s scales that lit up, sending out a wave of electricity designed to further neuter her opponent’s offensive power.

“It will only be a draw if neither of us wins until then,” she replied, smirking. It was a bit of a dangerous ploy, but she could already tell that his team was more offensively powerful, with being able to call forth spikes underwater and such. Remoraid dodged most of those, only being grazed a little bit, but otherwise, it was fine – and it turned to fire a Psybeam at its attacker.

Similarly, Lapras used the brief interrupted from the switching of places to prepare an attack of its own, using Brine on the waters around it in self-defense of sorts, against both the Lycanroc and the incoming Riolu. Zorua, in the meantime, continued to Nasty Plot, for no one was engaging it right then. It probably should do something soon, but the situation did not quite call for it yet, the little one estimated.

That…thing just kept on kicking her. Annoying. Once more, she hissed, when those kicks found her face. But she held on, regardless. That little Rabbit was not getting away from her. In fact, now that it was so close and already singed from her previous attack, she was going to simply double down on that and use yet another venoshock at it, in the hopes that all that poison would eventually bring it down properly.

It couldn’t keep that up forever, after all. In the meantime, there was another loud, different hiss and a charred Ekans fell from a miniature water tower, just electrocuted. Two by two were left in this battle royal. And the Octazookas were suspiciously quiet, at least for the time being.

Phew. The Blizzard was over, at least for now. Two Pokemon were out, leaving two on each side. In fact, it left two teams that were, in some ways, mirroring one another. Much like Weavile, Ponyta also used Agility, in order to allow it to keep up. And Pyukumuku, it used its own harden in order to prepare for the next exchange. Since there were only the two of them left, they would have to act a lot more strategically in the future, if they wanted to retain any chance of winning. After all, without Ponyta, they couldn’t win anymore at all, for obvious reasons.
