The Salandit hissed. That thing really should be reeling by now, shouldn’t it? But somehow, it kept coming back to annoy her! There a fiery kick, one that slightly singed her, and she only knew how to respond in kind. Grabbing that burning leg with both hands, it then tried to keep it there while spewing a mighty flamethrower from its mouth!

Evette, in the meantime, noticed the number of participants whittling down. There were only five Pokemon left standing. Those two, a hiding Ekans, the Octillery and the Pikachu. At the very least, they had made it into the top category here now.
Then again, only the last ‘Mon standing counted, right?

That was…unexpected to say the least. Sala had expected an attack, not being hopped upon. Which, naturally, kind of irritated it to the point where it fired a heavy toxic at the Scorbunny while it was close like that, just out of pure spite. A fight, it could take. A hunt, it would want. But being used like some springboard? No, that just would not do.

To add to all that, however, there was an octazooka impact, not 3 feet from her, than another a little behind. Apparently, the Octillery was either after them now, or was hitting their area for some other reason now.

So this was really her. Not very surprising. Eve was fairly decent at recognizing people she had met before, after all. It, too, was an acquired skill, courtesy of her mother. The ability to recognize fans was apparently important, though she had yet to run into any situations where it truly mattered.

But, well, it was nice here. And this girl recognized her, too, in a rather cheerful way. At least with this one, she had apparently left a rather positive impression, nice. The Wailmer certainly greeted her rather enthusiastically. “It is nice indeed. And yes, I figured I give the little one some more battle experience. It is an odd looking fellow, so its peers always shunned it, I think. Seems like it wants to prove itself.” She nodded towards the discoloured Remoraid in the waters.

These Pokemon definitely had some anger management issues. Ghastly, too, but she had an excuse, she was a ghost. Well, so were some of his, but his team seemed to completely consist of those. And now this battle was devolving into Dartrix and Ghastly Sucker Punching one another until one of them keeled over.

So far, Ghastly was holding on, but how long could she? Really, Eve was close to recalling her but stopped herself, figuring that Ghastly simply wanted to defeat at least one of them before going out. That was something she could respect. “I think all cool was lost long ago in this battle.”

Not so good, really. Swablu was hurt quite a bit – and Chandelure was a fire type, so it took lessened damage from the Moonblast to boot. The little guy tried valiantly to stay in the air, but Eve could see that it was having quite some difficulty with that. Given that there was that super Metagross on the field, too, she decided to recall it just moments before it could faint from the damage.

Instead, Ghastly returned with a vengeance, once again rotating in and immediately Sucker Punching the Chandelure. That was decidedly becoming a thing here. And she was not quite sure why.

Huh? At first, she figured that using fire on a steel type wasn’t that bad, either. However, she was fairly certain that the light coming from there was not the result of the inferno. While that probably still did some damage, it was instead the Metagross….evolving? Honestly, she hadn’t exactly seen something like that before. It was….strange to say the least.

But it also resulted in a massive psychic that in turn straight knocked out her Chandelure, which she recalled. Nothing one could do about that. Instead, her Swablu returned to the field. Her plan slightly derailed, she had no other options but go on the offense and hope that she, too, could take out whatever rotated in next with Swablu’s Moonblast.

Well, that was some damage at least. Ghastly was burning now, but that was somewhat fine. She would have to deal with that. However, if she predicted this directly, then the next rotation would lead to the Dartrix coming out. And since she was now switching to Chandelure, well, that bird was already burning. Time to add more fire to the mix then.

“Inferno,” she simply said, decidedly trying to sound cool in the process. That was its hardest hitting attack, after all. And after spreading many status effects, she figured that now was the time to go and try and finish off one of the enemies.

Calm Mind, huh? Good. That would mean that it was ready to take an attack. The more tactically sound move would have been to concentrate either on that one, or on the other opponent while they were separated like that. However, that would feel a bit rude in this context. And she did not necessarily play to win. Not like she could become some kind of champ or anything, no.
So, she could settle for only winning in ways that would not leave others hurt. Well, aside from the Pokemon, but those signed up for it. And even then, she took steps to mitigate that a little with a trainer like Luka.

Thus, instead of the exposed Buneary, she had her Flabebe aim at the more entrenched Musharna. “I hope you are ready, because here comes a Solar Beam. Also, Bagon, protect Flabebe.” The little dragon would make sure to do that, directing its headbutt into the Bounce, hurting both melee fighters, while a huge, boosted solar beam came from a very small Pokemon, towards the one with the calmest mind.

Darn, it didn’t fall to the ground. Some Sky Battle this was. Ah, well, one asleep, one still burning, that meant only one of the three was currently without a status condition. And since Swablu was rotating out now for a recovered Ghastly, that one decided to pay the Chandelure back for what happened before.

Before she had flames thrown upon it, the Ghastly instead Sucker Punched the Chandelure – or it tried to at least. Either way, it was definitely going to feel rather smug about this maneuvre. Payback was and had always been something incredibly important to this little ghost for some reason.
Probably had something to do with how it had become a ghost in the first place.

It was happening now. Eve was more preoccupied with watching him finally being forced onto the ground. Honestly, she’d been both worried and intrigued, all but forgetting about the battle briefly. Fortunately though, he did manage to land somewhat – even using the suit he so didn’t like at all. Eve wasn’t sure if she could do that, if needed. But that didn’t need be tested anyway.

Unfortunately, he Swablu was now facing a Metagross, trying to grasp it with Psychic. That was enough to snap her back into the battle. “Quick, do the thing,” she calls out to Swablu, referencing their original game plan.
And so, Swablu, despite being held by the psychic….started to sing. Because if a Pokemon fell asleep while flying, it would lose. At least Evette believed so.

Heh.. She suppressed the urge to scratch her neck. Him just stating that so brazenly made her suddenly feel quite self-aware in that regard, which was a little bit embarrassing. But it was still a compliment, and his laugh seemed genuine. So, she accepted it.

“Well, it is nothing special. Also, Noble Roar,” she replied and ordered, with Toxcricity roaring loudly at the lizard, hoping to either stop it in its tracks, or weaken its attack so that it would do a lot less damage.

This wasn’t going so good, with this Blizzard going on. Ponyta could work its flames against that, staying warm, but Blitzle was clearly suffering. In fact, it needed to be recalled now, after being hit by the Night Slash as well.

However, Blizzard did have an Achilles’ Heel. It couldn’t be kept up forever. Especially not with Pyukumuku around. “Spite at the Avalugg,” Eve ordered and the little ball of darkness fixated its unaware eyes on the other Pokemon intensely, trying to fully break its concentration and stop the Blizzard in its tracks.
Meanwhile, Ponyta surged forward, trying to Stomp on the Glalie to take it out completely.

Another sigh. “Ah, well, just don’t do it again,” she noted, waving as if to show him that he didn’t need to bow anymore. That reminded her entirely too much of that one wealthy fan of hers who had wanted to kneel before her or whatever. Creep. That man had been a creep.

This boy wasn’t though. He seemed earnest about it all, at least. Hence, she would leave him off the hook without further reparations. Well, mostly. “Either way, I would suggest that you now offer me some refreshments to go with while I look at these pictures you spoke of?”

So, he seemed to not take his Metagross into consideration, hm? That did make sense, since he would have to get off of it then. Though she did wonder what that would mean for the battle going forward. Certainly, it would have to come in at some point. At least as long as she did not lose all her Pokemon beforehand.

Fortunately, Chandelure was able to take the Sucker Punch for now. And with a bit of a furious gleam, it unleashed an Inferno right at the Dartrix before it was rotated out, once more being replaced with Swablu, which had somewhat recovered by now, ready to better deal with whatever would come at it next.
