Was he for real? They had perfectly safe trainer boxes like this, where they could give orders, recall Pokemon and all those things without truly experiencing any issues. But since he had to be out there ontop of his Pokemon, he almost fell off. In fact, her eyes widened more in surprise that the people organizing this would even remotely allow this, rather than him getting into trouble.

That was not exactly, well, surprising. She sighed as Gastly took the confusion. But he was rotated out anyway for her own Chandelure, so it had time to get that out of its system. In fact, she was kind of banking on that herself. “Will-O-Wisp,” she ordered it and the ghost sent a burning light at its opposite – so that it could continue burning while it was rotated out. Then, she turned to the trainer. “You do not have a lot of control over your Pokemon, now do you?”

HE brought two land-locked ones and one swimmer, interesting. That would be something more tactical, Eve could already tell that much. But for now, she just courtly nodded with a faint smile. Just because this man had decided to forego manners did not mean that she had to, as well. “I am Evette, by the way. And my first move is to make it rain.”

Right on cue, the Lapras would begin to cast a Rain Dance, causing the watery goodness to also come from above, as soon as Eve was out of range of the move itself. Remoraid, in the meantime, would take the cue and fire an Octazooka from the distance at the Lycanroc. Eve then nodded to the Zorua besides her, which hopped onto the nearest island, still a good ways away from the enemy team, and started with agility to bolster itself and to dodge the probably incoming attacks.

Honestly, she had not expected him to do this. People these days usually did not, well, apologize. Like, at all. Oh, they rationalized, they explained, they argued. But a flat out apology? That was rare. The boy, despite his odd behaviour sometimes, seemed to have had a decent upbringing at least. Eve had stopped, watched, and nodded now with a sigh.

If he could go out and apologize, then she could at the very least honour that with acceptance. “Apology accepted,” she thus started. It was a bit blank and dull, but just because she was approving of his reparations did not mean her feelings would suddenly turn around completely. “I guess I overacted a little, just storming off. But I came here expecting a battle, not a farce. The Pokemon of others are not toys to play with, even if yours can move them about like dolls. It is one thing to win. Another to make fun of an opponent int….gross ways. We might battle here, but we are not barbarians.”

The Blitzle recoils, hurt, but is also hit fully and square by the Blizzard. Trying to somehow rush through that, it swiftly Flame Charges the Weavile, hoping that the fires will counteract the cold before anything worse happens.

Meanwhile, Ponyta hides behind the Pyukumuku, crouching down defensively while the small blob protects itself with Harden from both the Freeze-Dry and the Blizzard. It does get hurt and frozen, but succeeds in protecting Ponyta, which reacts by neighing and sending out a powerful Flame Wheel towards the opposing team – which also helps Pyukumuku thaw out more quickly.

“The pleasure is all mine,” she replied with a little bow. It somehow felt appropriate, given that he had so much pressure and, well, presence, even when talking casually. It wasn’t anything problematic or dangerous, but she certainly could feel it anyway. It was always that way, really. She did tend to feel about people more than she really reasoned about them, most of the time.

And this didn’t feel half bad. “I can certainly agree to a good old fashioned duel. And since you have Zappa, I guess I will bring out the Rappa,” she explained, using slang for once just to make the pun. Then, she called Toxcricity forth who gave her an odd look. “I know, I know. Rap is definitely not punk enough for you. That was just word play.” He sighed in response, but accepted his master’s explanation regardless.

Heh. That was commitment to style, if nothing else. Cute personality, cute style of dress, cute Pokemon. Eve had to admit that she didn’t really do that. While she had two of those down, she tended to catch whatever struck her fancy or she came about that looked interesting. As such, her current choice was not exactly too coherent in that regard. Flabebe yes, it was all Kalosian, basically a national Pokemon at this point. Of course it was, mother had sent her that as a gift. But Bagon was anything but. She only had the little girl because she had apparently been dropped by her parent. Poor thing.

But maybe battling would help it grow. Once it was a Brutalanda, maybe Eve could just release it back into the wild to look for her mother or so.
For now though, battle. “Well, ready or not, we are doing this indeed,” she noted, nodding at the other. Then, she raised her hand in a somewhat royal, yet delicate gesture. “Focus your energy, Bagon. And give us Grassy Terrain, Flabebe.” While the former closed her eyes and concentrated, the little Fairy plant spun in place, emitting a green energy that then spread to the whole arena, covering it in ephemeral grass in the process.

Rocks, really? Salandit somewhat prided itself in the ability to even poison those with its corrosion ability. But it was annoying to be hit by those, especially when the Pokemon pelting it with them was so hard to grasp. She was getting annoyed, trying to track that stupid thing, but didn’t really know what else to do.
“Sweet Scent,” came the order from far away, but Sala could make it out regardless. Yes, that was a good idea. Even though the rocks hurt, she concentrated briefly, before then exhaling a particularly enticing odour, one that would hopefully make the Scorbunny a bit more sluggish, a bit more…palatable. That was what it had used in the wild to attract prey and keep it confined, after all. Not much use as a trainer’s Pokemon most of the time, but maybe today.

That bunny did look rather delicious after all. And since it was a fire type, it wouldn’t get burnt too easily when roasted, too. Mhm….

Finally. An arena with water. Given that Lapras was one of her first Pokemon, Eve really had wanted to use it but…it just felt bad bringing the big lady to a land-locked battle, so that it would flap around on the ground. This one though was mostly water, interspersed with rock formations and little islands. That was perfect.

Plus, it also helped with her battle plan. While waiting for her opponent to arrive, she allowed Lapras and the shiny Remoraid to swim around a little, while Zorua was sitting next to where she let her feet dangle over the platform. She didn’t quite let them get into the water to not make it go stale more quickly for other participants.

Plus, she was wearing sandals and a white dress. She really didn’t want to get too wet with that ensemble. But it felt good during a hot day like this, so she just enjoyed the weather and the day whilst she waited here.

“Evette,” she replied with a tilt of the head, introducing herself. Somehow, she tended to always move towards saying fewer words than her conversation partners, even when she didn’t really have a reason to do so. It was a bit odd, maybe, but she figured that it was just something she happened to do. Plus, it was always good to respond in kind in such situations. They were country-woman, after all. That much was clear.

Plus, she had no reason to say too much. “And don’t mention it. I am in no rush.” Honestly, she was not. There was no award for winning quickly. Or losing quickly, for that matter. So, she had all the time in the world to be nice towards this young lady, who sort of was already responding in kind, after all.

Plus, if the girl was more comfortable with the battle, it would probably be a better experience, anyway. A double battle was fine by her, anyway. Since this woman was obviously a bit inexperienced, Eve swiftly reached for two of her lesser used Pokemon, calling forth Bagon and Flabebe. “Double is fine, of course. But you probably should get your Pokemon out before letting me have the first move,” she replied with a light chuckle.

“Astronaut training?” Briefly, Eve found herself confused at what was going on there. However, the other pretty quickly showed her just what he meant by it.

And it was distasteful, gross, and also kind of insulting. Especially if that was not something he had chosen at random. Blushing slightly, Eve looked away while Chespin puked, quickly losing consciousness….

…so, she just huffed, puffed, recalled him and started walking away. That….that was simply not something she wished to take. Not after what had presumably happened at the bar before. Eve had no idea whether or not that guy had seen, but she suddenly did not really feel like it. John the Doug had had any number of choices to handle this.
And he had chosen quite poorly, in her opinion.

“Ah, well, if you can’t get there, bulk up some more,” she told it, since Chespin seemed to be unable to get out of the psychic for the time being. Eve figured that it would have to let go eventually to attack again, thus presenting an opportunity to move in. Chespin, at the very least, seemed rather eager to do that or faint trying. He had been itching for a chance to prove himself. Probably par for the course when one was the only boy in a whole team of girls.

Though in her opinion, success was secondary in that. “I never had a Blissey, but this little one is fairly tough, too. Though he definitely hasn’t finished growing just yet.” It was only at the beginning of its evolutionary line, after all. Likely, he would grow even stronger over time.
