Eve, too, winced. “That was…violent,” she commented, feeling a pang of guilt for hurting something so cute. But it had joined the fight. That meant it was willing to take a hammer to the face. Simple as that. While not merciless, she was the kind of person who accepted the world as it was and battling with it. After all, if he wanted to save his Pokemon from further farm, he could always recall it.

But Eve was not going to just let this go. Not when she had the advantage.
The Blissey was reeling.
The Hattenna was angry and tried to shoot Chespin in the back.
And Foongus, being a loyal sort, decided to stick to the plan and once more released its rage powder.

That probably would get it knocked out, for sure. But they’d still have the advantage that way. “Knock it out for good with a Body Slam!” The smaller Pokemon didn’t have that much body to slam, but it was riled and roided up, so it would hit the Blissey in the stomach as hard as it could, unless stopped.

This time, the Sucker Punch hit and, as Ghastly’s confusion slowly wore off, it gloated about that at first. However, then the pokemon balor did something quite super effective – it managed to take the fun out of it.

It kind of started to cry. Well, threw a tantrum at least. For the Ghastly, that turned things from funny to kind of sad, so it floated away, slightly dejected and unsure as to what it should do. “I guess Ghastly feels that this is just kind of cruel, so why don’t we let this wear off first? I mean, it’s not much of a battle if both sides keep punching the poor boy there….”

They were opponents here, sure, but that didn’t mean they had to be jerks about it after all.

At first, it fell asleep. But then it was put on fire, so it woke up quickly thereafter, only to almost faint from that attack alone. Fire was quite effective about these kinds of Pokemon, after all, but somehow, it managed to hang on. Probably not too bad, since going out in a single attack would have likely hurt its pride more than it needed to.

It survived, for now. “Use synthesis,” Eve instructed it and the battered fungus started to heal up a little more. In the meantime though, Chespin was finished bulking and psyching up, instead wishing to offer some payback to those who hurt its partner. Thus, it surged forward, turned part of its arm into a kind of hammer and would try to Wood Hammer the Blissey in the face, to stop it from singing. The little one was way too worked up to sleep, but that song did tug on its consciousness, so it was trying to get rid of that.

“Oh, right, pictures are fine. That’s the one thing I actually use my phone for, other than, well, calling people” Eve added, not wanting to be rude here.

These two had kind of the same energy, didn’t they? Ghastly barely got off the ground again, before it, too, started laughing at the other ghost Pokemon for getting it wrong. Then, it smirked, and instead tried again, eyes closed, and would seek to full-body Sucker Punch the bigger Pokemon in the belly. That ought to work, it figured, at least from a short distance like this. But who knew whether or not that would in any way work?

“Does this sort of thing happen to you often?” Eve’s words were jovial and gentle, as they often were. Clearly, she did not mind her Pokemon making a fool out of itself. How could she, anyway? That was how it would learn, hopefully.

Well, he was friendly too. A friendly bear of a person. She offered a more delicate hand in return, slightly unsure about that at first, but she figured that he was gentler than he might look. People like that usually were.

“Evette Moreau,” she replied, making sure to articulate it proper in order to show the right kind of pronunciation right away. No one had any right to get it wrong when they only ever heard it. In the meantime, a Heliosk appeared, probably the Pokemon that he was going to use. “Do you have any preference as to how to go about this?”

Well, this was a man. Though compared to the likes of John the Doug, this one was a lot more of a man, if she could say that much. She probably should revise her terminology at some point, really. But that was the first thought that came to mind, really. However, thanks to her training and upbringing, she didn’t show much reaction to that other than her usual, pleasant little smile as she approached.

White dress and sandals herself, she at the very least fit in with the place’s aesthetic anyway. It was getting late, so this was probably the last fight for this particular day. Suited her just fine. “Good evening, monsieur. It seems like you are waiting for someone. If it is no one in particular, then it is probably me, I would say.”

“I guess so,” she replied, smiling. “But that means I can’t really answer your questions too well, if you had any concrete ones.” Usually, she was pretty open about things and ready to tell others as much as she could. Yet, it was difficult both without a proper question and without really knowing what it was all about. Oh, well, nothing she could do about all that.

Battle first, anyway. “Doubles are fine with me. I got others that I am still getting used to, myself,” she replied, sorting through her balls so far. She’d only bring out one, though. Chespin was already following them and he would be one of her choices. One of the only male Pokemon she had, incidentally. For the other, she chose her Foongus. Those two looked like they could work together somewhat well.

In the meantime, Doug the John seemed to be sorting out some blood with his ‘Mons, so she let him do that. “Sure thing,” she agreed to her priority. Not like she was going to let him have that anyway for this somewhat simple game plan. “Rage Powder and Bulk Up, let’s go,” she instructed her Pokemon. One to draw the enemies into attacking the Foongus and only it, while Chespin used that time to become stronger.

Well, that seemed to hit hard – in both directions. Ponyta took a good chunk of damage as well from this and decided to run away instead and disengage, much like the had practiced. Instead, Blitzle took centre stage, now fully charged. Pyukumuku, too, changed its target and lent a helping hand to the zebra instead, further increasing its power.

With full speed and almost reckless abandon, the Blitzle then charged the Weavile directly, once it misses the Ponyta, seeking to take out this more offensive thread while the Glalie still recuperates from being hit. The Avalugg thus could set up, certainly, but they couldn’t be everywhere.

Not again? She arched a brow at that exclamation. Was this a common occurrence in this tournament? So far, it had seemed like at least half the participants were taking this seriously, so she’d figured that something like this would have been the exception, rather than the norm.

Yet, it seemed like he knew these sorts of things. And, apparently, he was used to them enough to just lean in and accept what was going on, rather than trying to fight it. Well, that was what she was going to do as well.
Ghastly, meanwhile, was hovering through the air almost drunkenly. Upon seeing that curse going completely haywire, it laughed before launching itself at the opponent in a Sucker Punch – but in its confusion it missed and ran itself into the ground, hurting itself.

Cutie? Well, that was forward. Granted, with the white dress and sandals, she probably invited it on that day. Yet, among her opponents on that day of the tournament, he had been the only one to hit on her. It wasn’t really something she was into too much, given that she preferred that to happen in a bit more indirect or classy style, but she did not mind it either. One of the things that had been trained out of her had been the act of getting embarrassed about such things.

Now, she just took the compliment. And the option of taking the first move as well. For that, she sent out a trio of lesser-used Pokemon, which nevertheless felt appropriate for this kind of battle. Pyukumuku in the back, which would use Helping Hand on its center partner, Ponyta. That one would, in turn, Flare Blitz whatever was in the front here. In the meantime, her Blitzle would use Charge to prepare for a dangerous attack of its own next turn.

Trigger happy was good. Well, kind of. Salandit quite enjoyed seeing the Scorbunny like this, especially after it was hit by the poison in the back. Sadly though, with that good came also the bad of random embers flying everywhere. Being a fire type, Sala was not hurt too much by that, but it still hissed at the pain. And then there was the small, but not inconsequential matter of the building now being on fire which was also not optimal.

Ah, well. Not like she had a choice. With the small building theatrically burning down, Salandit used its Dragon Pulse to blast open part of the wall near where it had seen the Scorbunny try to get away, hoping to hit it with the attack or parts of the destroyed stage, before rushing outside with a hiss, quickly looking for a new hiding place.
After all, there were still Octazookas being fired all over the town, currently driving the Bulbasaur that had disengaged from its opponent towards the Pikachu.

Ghastly saw the Confuse Ray coming. So, it did what it always did. Instead of trying to use that to its advantage, the Pokemon instead tried to make things more chaotic. Or rather, it wanted to. Momentarily, it seemed to hesitate, something Eve noticed. “Go ahead. We might as well,” she noted, letting the Ghastly do what it did best instead.

It caused chaos. Instead of dodging the Confuse Ray or otherwise preparing to mitigate it, the Ghastly instead decided to start up another Confuse Party and used that very same move as way, ultimately hopefully confusing them both and creating pandemonium.

And thus a little bunny wandered into the lizard’s lair. There was a snickering sound to be heard in the dark, as Salandit enjoyed what it saw. Not just the success, either, the agitated way the other reacted was nice too. Emotional, quick to anger….yes, that was something she could use.

Slinking through the darkness, her dark body clearly acted in her benefit as she moved about. “Sala….” It said, quietly, a hushing whisper through the shack. There wasn’t a whole lot of space here, but she wanted to give the other something to latch onto – just so it could swiftly scurry through the dark towards the other side, readying up a Venoshock to fire at the Scorbunny, once it would probably go to randomly attack the wall.
Bright and colourful Pokemon like this….they always had such trouble with the dark.
