his breakfast is dug into. he enjoys every bite and every flavor that comes with it. he likes the eggs especially.[break][break]

and after a bit, he remembers something that threatens to pull him away from the moment. from their little bubble even if it shouldn't feel like one.[break][break]

"probably have to leave soon."

because walking all the way up the hill sounds like a monumental task, especially with how every step sinks into the snow. too tiring for him, really, but he also doesn't want this day to come to an end yet. thankfully, she comes up with a solution.[break][break]

"well, that solves our problem."[break][break]

grinning as well, he recalls his mamoswine before climbing up to join her. he settles behind her, stable and ready.[break][break]

"let's race again this time. best two out of three?"

beer pong is dangerous just because of how fast one consumes glass after glass of beer. not that it matters much since danny drank even before this, so he's already faded by the time he has to do this particular dare that would've usually horrified him.[break][break]

thirty seconds. he can do that.[break][break]

it's extra awkward because there's no music so he fishes his phone out and quickly plays the first song on his spotify. he doesn't know if it's fitting because everything sort of fades into the background as he starts his dance.[break][break]

he approaches her, then mounts her as his hips move to the beat of the song. should he hold eye contact? is it weird? he does it anyways.

despite the clear intimacy of the moment, there is still distance between them from things left unsaid. he doesn't want to address it at the moment so he lets it linger, doing his best not to mind it as he sticks some bread into the toaster.[break][break]

with the bread toasting, he moves to prepare the rockets, washing them under the sink briefly before shifting to plate them.[break][break]

it does not take him long until the plates are ready, each one with toast, rocket to the side, as well as a dollop of garlic aioli.[break][break]

it's much harder to explain than he realizes. it's easier to show her but he can't catch up in time and it's by some miracle that she avoids smashing into a couple of trees. he's relieved, to say the least.[break][break]

eventually, he slides to a stop next to her, then reaches out to grab her shoulders to help stabilize himself.[break][break]

"woo! that was fun, huh?"

the news is a revelation to danny made more so by the fact that this is his first time hearing about it. which means this is not real-time news.[break][break]

he rolls onto his side, facing nagi.[break][break]

"what do you mean? when did you leave? what the hell, why didn't you tell me!"

he leans forward, hands grabbing the end of the table as he waits idly for her to read out her dare. when she does, he's glad not to have stumbled forward because it does catch him off guard.[break][break]

when she drinks, he feigns a sad look, then waves it off.[break][break]

"yeah no, that's cool. cool cool cool cool."[break][break]

she sinks her throw. he groans, sighing as he picks it up to read it.[break][break]

"ugh. give the other person a lap dance for thirty seconds or take a drink."[break][break]

the choice seems easy.[break][break]

"fuck it. i'm gonna do it."

well, she's definitely okay, so his worries fade very quickly fade away.[break][break]

"kinda! you're really good at this, too. well, before you crashed, at least, but wiping out is normal!"[break][break]

before he can exchange more words, she's off, speeding down the rest of the hill as they start their race.[break][break]

"shit—come on, pilo! hurry up!"[break][break]

he hops, then uses the momentum to start sliding down again. his mamoswine sticks close behind, pretty much sliding down on its belly.[break][break]

who will reach the base of the hill first?

"oh nice! i believe you. in that case, i'll leave the eggs to you."[break][break]

he pulls out the carton and places it on the counter next to them. he gestures up at various cabinets, speaking as he does so.[break][break]

"the bowls and pans and stuff can be found here and here. i'll work on the rest of our breakfast, then!"[break][break]

the rest of their breakfast includes toasting the bread, washing the rocket, and he goes the extra step to make a garlic aioli spread that he imagines would compliment the dish well.

he nods his head repeatedly as though he actually knows what he's talking about. if he sells it enough maybe his friend will believe him.[break][break]

tossing the bottle back into his bag, danny falls to the sand with a groan, quick to stretch out and attempt to relax.[break][break]

"how's your job, by the way? i feel like it's been forever since we hung out."

danny's tinder profile is sacred so it's a good thing she swipes past it and opts for twitter. what she decides to tweet isn't too out of the norm for him so he doesn't mind it much. it actually makes him laugh when he reads it back.[break][break]

"you know, i'm surprised he doesn't have me blocked yet."[break][break]

with a huff, he picks up the ball and chucks it with full power into one of her cups. it sinks.
