In the end, their choices only mattered in the ways of how groups were formed. For the purposes of this little evaluation, they would be facing that threats which they knew - Makes most sense when you think about it. Or well, even without thinking too hard on it, really.[break][break]

They could worry about the threats unknown once they'd proven themselves capable of handling what already stood in their paths.[break][break]

Now comes the first hurdle of this test, searching for teammates who he's never personally met. Having read up their profiles and knowing vaguely of their existences, he starts by finding them through a process of elimination. Until he sees that dark cloud floating right above the crowd, almost like a tagged assigned to some NPC in a video game - Unmistakable and most definitely eye-catching.[break][break]

He makes his way over without a hitch, making his presence known by keeping as steady a gaze he can muster on River Marx himself. Then, when they finally meet gazes, he'll offer a nod. Not exactly a polite introduction, but beats making his teammate wonder just who's on his side for the precious few minutes they have before the test, right?

It's like watching a playground spat, the others bickering it out over what's the correct answer whilst attempting to knock each other down a peg. Gerald Kaiser, on the other hand... That answer of all three is definitely a valid option, though he isn't quite sure whether he should be lauded for his bravery or scorned for his indecision.[break][break]

Not wishing to tie himself up in circular discussions, he steps up to the plate and presses the third option.[break][break]

What a colourful crew awaits him when he slinks into the room - The maniacs, the unconfident, the conspiracy theorists, and... the social butterflies? In many instances he's seen in Rocket, a loud bark doesn't necessarily equate a vicious bite. And in the true spirit of a organisation set on clawing away for the pursuit of strength, many are quick to douse the wild spitfires before they grow out of control.[break][break]

Many of these names are familiar to him, not so much their faces though. Keeping updated on the registry of incoming members and emerging faces enables him to occupy his idle thoughts with a little game of match, vague descriptors tagged onto each figure as he files it to the back of his mind.[break][break]

Like little sparks of lightning kept within cracked glass bottles, Xenon Antheil and Hitoshi Inoue immediately stick out to him as ticking time bombs in their own ways - Ideally, people to avoid... but if his sources are right, the latter might prove a valuable asset in terms of brawn. While Alba Evovae suggests that this trial might be death matches, Ashley Shepard seems to hold a hint of doubt (Or perhaps, he's simply reading the atmosphere wrong).[break][break]

If anything, he figures that it'll be testing their mettle against their thoughts, a trial prying into the weakness they had all given in the interview. Following the whole motive behind the formation of SPECTRA, they're probably going to be facing off fragments of legendaries that best corner and force them to grow.[break][break]

Hesitation, huh? His fair share of work is already cut out for him.

With regards to the region as it currently is? Necrozma? I suppose that the unidentified legendaries in that dating game also counts. We have information on many of the legendaries that have aligned with the League, dealing with them just requires a proper strategy. But if we're dealing with the unknown? Eh.

You really don't have to make a late entry a fashionable one. Not that Lykaios would have been able to pull it off if he tried. At best, he'll be ignored. At worst, he leaves the impression that he's some sort of clown that's been paid to entertain the crowd and will be haunted by it for years to come. Alternatively, someone throws pie like they did in the previous meeting and everything bursts into flames.[break][break]

No, he's good being a shadow upon the walls. He feels like he hasn't missed much as he slips into the room, careful to stick to the edges so he doesn't interrupt anyone reciting their thoughts on the current topic being discussed. Speaking of which, the topic is one that most definitely draws his interest - Not so much out of self-interest but rather because it's one that he knows might be of interest to the higher-ups.[break][break]

Articuno has sealed itself within Shoal Cave and Laurence Anderson's bond with it has dwindled. Perhaps a visit might be in order, if they think it's a worthy investment of time and resources. There are calls to reunite the legendary birds, interest in beings such as Regirock and Registeel. And apparently, Project Sapphire is a bridge to this - A rat race in against Rockets in reaching the legendaries first...[break][break]

This would be like any other gathering he'd been to - Just pop in, do what he needs to do and disappear without a trace. And with the sparkling conversation going on as he slips in, he finds it quite easy to slip his gift onto the table: Neatly labelled with well wishes for the recipient, but lacking any sort of tag from the sender save for a sprig of athanasia tucked into the gift itself.[break][break]

With all the decorations set up and guests invited, he can't help but think that maybe, just maybe he should go up to the one who'd organised this and thanked them for doing something for jayden cross. But they've never met before, and so his little thought dies as quickly as it comes, the door clicking softly behind him as he takes his leave.

For all the unaddressed complaints of ranger pay grades being far too little for what they are assigned to do, the higher-ups sure seem happy to splurge on get-togethers. Still, if it's free food and a chance to loosen tongues, he's not going to miss it.

On the other hand, his Ninetales is more than happy to wander a little, tottering up to Salem and offering him a toothy grin for his outfit. Years of being undercover has taught him that observation is one of the handiest skills you can possess. Deep breaths and steps back point to an aversion to fire, whether due to traumatic history or simply unexplained paranoia. However, prying into such matters doesn't suit him - He can listen but he isn't quite as capable at handing out advice where needed.

Why is he roped into the most mundane of day-to-day tasks? Give him a case to investigate, ask him to settle a swarm of invasive pokemon or take down some troublemakers - Sure, those require effort but it at least occupies his mind better than having to run after wily pokemon and catch them. But his problems don't just end there, because they never seem to be content with being just that.

It's not so much a greeting as it is a way to catch his supposed partner's attention. Yuna, on the other hand, makes somewhat of a grand entrance, cutting between both Meowstic and Eevee to snatch the ball right out of the air. Her tails flick in contempt, her chest puffed as she drops the object right before the duo, earning herself a sigh as her trainer gently places a fist on top of her head.

How he's glad to hear a whistle, even if it isn't one that's calling the winner. It means a way out of this hellhole and a straight trip out of this obstacle course lest he create more disruption. For a moment, he swears that he spies a pout on the Ninetales' face, raising an eye at her as he scruffs her by the neck and carries her right to the finish line.
