Well, that sure is no Unown, is it?

In fact, Dionysus seems almost... confused by the sight of the Chimecho that approaches it. Maybe that much is to be expected, though. After all, the DRK Triad Unown do a whole lot of hunting, trapping, and even killing other pokémon (most legendaries, let's be honest), so they probably don't expect other beings to be particularly friendly towards them.

Then again, Unown probably don't care at all and Mars may just be projecting all of this onto them.

Most of the time he doubts they feel any emotion, but if they don't, why would all of these Unown choose him and go against what the DRK Triad claims to be the will of Arceus?

THREAD SUMMARY
In the aftermath of PAAA, Mars stops by 's new office in Team Rocket's headquarters ("coincidentally" Mars' old office from back when he was Admin) to congratulate him on his promotion to ADMIN — champagne in hand and everything.

While the conversation starts off lighthearted, Mars soon addresses the topic on if they should keep their new relationship hidden within Rocket, given that Barnaby uses an alias (Bee) for his work for the syndicate. They agree to do so, but in the process of this Mars mentions that he understands Barnaby's predicament, because he too goes by many aliases, including the name the public knows him by.

Barnaby finally learns about the Marzán family and Martín Marzán's past, yet even when having done so and understanding the danger that comes in being together, he still wishes to aid Mars in his wishes to avenge his lost wife and son. Mars thinks putting an end to the Marzán family is the only way to keep Barnaby safe, and that in itself has become a driving factor for him.

It's clear that Barnaby has become incredibly important in Mars' life, and in the end, Mars tells him how proud of him he is.


WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Honestly I could go on for AGES about Mars and Barnaby, so where to even begin? There are a multitude of reasons why this thread is important, starting by the fact that they had only just confessed their feelings to each other the night before PAAA, and with everything that has happened, this is the first chance they have to explore this new relationship of theirs... right after the world almost ended.

It really shows the trust they have in each other and how much effort they're willing to put to make this relationship work, to the point that Mars told Barnaby about some of his most painful experiences (which in Hoenn on really knew about before). Mars realizes that he doesn't want to keep secrets from Barnaby or lie to him, but he also worries about how Barnaby will react to all of it. He's surprised when Barnaby still chooses to be with him and goes as far as wanting to help him achieve his goals, and I think that in itself shows how strong their bond is.

Beyond their relationship and the huge revelations made, this thread also marks a huge achievement for Barnaby. Mars is proud of him and of everything he has accomplished, and he truly believes Barnaby will be a great Admin.

Dove really is such an amazing writer, RP partner, and friend ♡ Every thread with Mars and Barnaby is a joy, and I love exploring their relationship and their feelings for each other. Thank you for making Hoenn such a great place for me, and thank you for this amazing ship ;-; I truly adore them and a huge part of what makes them so great is that it's a ship with someone I care for and trust. I always look forward to all our threads, and À La Tienne is one of those I'll always look back to particularly fondly ♡

It had been just recently that Mars had found himself discussing the uniqueness of Meteor Falls with . Now, here he is again, visiting the shrine that is as if the last standing vestige of the Draconids that had once inhabited in this cavern.

It's not belief that had led him to this place, his own beliefs are much different than those of the people of Hoenn.

So, what is it then?

Perhaps simply the Unown-? that wanders nearby, unseen and disguised, watching the swimming Dratini and the Bagon whose Salamence mother probably dwells nearby. Mars sees what it sees, and he also sees the bell before him.

A slumbering Tirtouga doesn't seem all too pleased with the light produced by the Dragapult, being woken and soon attempting to bite down on the tail of the phantasmagoric dragon. Xanthos hisses, tail becoming incorporeal, and of course, his retaliation comes swift in the form of his PHANTOM FORCE.

These jogs at Mount Pyre may seem strange to some, but to Mars, they serve multiple purposes. Exercise, search, disconnect, take a moment to himself. Himself and the Unown, of course. It's always himself and the Unown these days. Well... it has been that way for a while now, hasn't it?

Today, it's the Unown-D that had been partner to Father Winter, here on this mountain where it had betrayed him.
